Moments of high drama were never my favorite parts of soaps, (nor marriages either!). I tended to like the quieter, more intimate scenes -'throw away' scenes where nothing happened- better. The ones about character interaction.
The first part here reminds me why I've avoided 'primetime' and its plot-driven narratives for 30 yrs or more. The 2nd half is better but... I don't remember this Silver, only the 87/88 one.
This show could have been fun to bad that the writers made Erica Kane a raging bitch. She is so nasy know the show is unwatchable. My mom used to watch at this time.
I loved Deborah Goodrich....she added spice to the story! I remember following her on 2 episodes of The Edge of Night an episodic of Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer, Day By Day and the flick April Fool's Day
@imachildofthe80s8089 . Deborah Goodrich was amazing as Silver. One of the best storylines for AMC. If Annie Lavery is Silver's daughter that would be really inspired!!!
These dramatic soap moments are sooooo much better without the background music. It makes it feel more real. Plus, today's soaps try to include 6 different sets of scenes in a 38 minute episode (after commericals are removed) which is so much more annoying compared to this. Nowadays the actors only say a couple of lines to fill up 30 seconds and then get a dramatic pause before going to another scene or another 4 minute commercial break. I long for these early days...
I loved the Erica modeling scenes. When her fake sister Silver broke the heel of her shoe, and wanted Erica to fall down the stars - classic fantastic Soap! AMC and Erica peaked in the 80s!
Love to, but can't. This was actually done in the 80's when I was more of a fan of AMC. I only did contiguous recordings of AMC scenes, and colleced here and there episodes of OLTL.
