c'mon how can you tell that lol you sound like "no is not chinese is taiwanese or something" I mean I can see diference in the eyes between japanese and chinese but c'mon =_=
sha makes me feel like smiling and crying at the same time, she is really wonderfull!!!<3 She must come and sing in France (my country), I love her music, and I think a lot of europeans would really enjoy it!
Alan is amazing and even tho i cannot understand chinese or japanese, damn all the americans who make fun of asians ching chong? why make fun of us wen ur music doesn't even sound as good as ours
The Japanese version is very good as well! Like somebody mentioned before, this version has the "Tibetan cry," which is random, but actually sounds really good! Thanks for sharing!
I'm American (and white lol) and at first her saprano was really shocking but man does she have talent. Just heard about her a few days ago and I'm totally a fan now. I guess it depends on your taste.
We don't have a lot of high sapranos in popular music over here so I guess it can be a bit hard to get used to this type of music.
AMAZING!!!! i just watched the video for this, and was so taken by it I had to see how she wa slive. And oh my god! Not only a beautiful voice, she actually MOVED! Everyone else does these subtle gestures, and she actually put more emotion into her perforance with the fluid movements of her arms. Why cant more singers do stuff like that when singing a ballad...
haha, I'm Chinese myself, and honestly speaking I still prefer her Japanese songs (and versions) better than the Chinese stuff. Somehow this particular song just sounded better in Japanese, and her new Japanese album is fantastic. I can hear just a little accent in her Japanese though (particularly in one part where she pronounced "fu" funny) but wow, fantastic perf :D
I might get flamed by hardcore Chinese fans but no matter... I still prefer the Japanese version because its by Avex Trax and she did all her wonderful beutifull Chiiiyeaaaaaaaaa.... in most of her Songs meanwhile you wont find her Mandrin ver with that. Japanese Songs blends in with her Tibetian origin far better despite her chinese accent.
Not bashing, but just want to clear something out. The Mandarin version does not have the cry because most of us Chinese listeners will identify that as Tibetan/other minority's. Since this is an OST(if that's right) for a movie that has almost nothing to do with Tibet, it will be really awkward to have that Chiiyea in there; it'll be like putting a cowboy "yeehaw" in the middle of a movie based on the Victorian Era.
Not really , if it is base on Three Kingdom era yes then Tibet is involve. Meanwhile your term "yeehaw" is way off , this is more like suprano wailing + mordern songs fusion for the chinese which isn't awkward unless chinese are too close minded to accept new age/alternative songs/music. Look at Matrix the soundtrack and also Square Soft games. Your "most chinese listeners" does not count , I for one will not feel awkward and will welcome changes and creativity.
by maradin's logic, the makers of red cliff might as well add in western elements, anachronisms, and aliens to be more open minded.
obviously that's an exaggeration, but my point is that Red Cliff was a well done movie because the makers were very specific in their vision. if they wanted the movie to revolve around the distinctiveness of their music, it would be more like a 4 hour long music video. there's no need to express unnecessary issues like musical diversity since it's out of scope.
I don't consider adding Tibetian wailing to be Alien or pretty much your mixed up and screw the up the song term. I repeat It is to the ears of the listeners it does not sound wrong if she add the wailing in the chinese version it will only make it better and I am very specific as a chinese myself that understands both versions. So by my Logic is simply a good blend and I don't need your sarcasm thanks
what timing beat are you talking about?? what is it about her tapping her fingers. i dont get it? lol. and yea, its a really nice song. haunting.. lol
Its a beautiful song, other than the too obvious timing beat on the mic while performing. This is what we called universal music...good in jap and mandrin, maybe even cantonese.
One of the best live performers, in my opinion. Not a lot of people can stand in front of a crowd and still deliver like alan can :) She's perfectly in tune!
alan is an amazing singer :D i just love her. i like the chinese version of this song better :D good azz perf..well she always have good perfs ^^ haha
I agree! The Chinese version just seems to flow a little more, but the Japanese version is great as well. I love the operatic touch she added in the song.
Okay, I just watched another video of her entitled "alan live in Tokyo Odaiba VenusFort (2008.07.05)" on YT and the narrator says Shin Sen @ about 1:07.
I'm stupid and forgot to click Post Comment on something I wrote before my other comment. Just to reiterate, the Japanese language has more than one pronunciation for many of its Kanji. So 心 could be read as either kokoro or shin. I think the goal was to stay as close to the original Chinese title as possible, hence the choice of pronunciation, because kokoro is more common.
I'm not Japanese. This is something I've just picked up in my years of fangirling. Don't quote me on any of this.

i know, but it not means inevitable,
my JP friends can speank chinese
like chinese speak,and im chinese,
my friends can speak the same tone like jp,almost chinese can speak this way,
expect some parts of the china, like GUANGXI pronvince--LI JIANG,they cannot change the tone,
sometimes it depend on how long that she learned the language,Alan is the初心者,means new learner,we can know it through her pronunciation.
