@mr9396 "Good luck joining the euro, then going bankrupt. freedom, yeah right...."
If they go broke, they're going to do it whether or not they're attached to the rest of Europe or just England. But if they do it independent, at least it'll be as Scots, not as North Britons ruled by the whims of an England with an 87% share of a "national" parliament that won't even let the legislatures of Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland be genuinely sovereign within their own sphere of powers.
@N330AA "I don't support Scottish Independence because i have yet to see a rational argument as to why it should happen."
Because the Scots want it... purportedly. We'll only know once the referendum results are in. But if they do, that's all the reason they need. Fundamentally, that's what it IS to be a people, to be a nation: to have the right to formulate and realize a national will. Scotland was Scotland a long time before there was a UK--and will be long after, I predict; like Ireland.
I am over here across the pond in the States and I support Scottish Independence! There are many of us here in the U.S. who hope that Scotland will be able to determine her own destiny and way in the world. Loch Sloidh! Alba gu Brath! Saor Alba!
SNP wont give us independence. they will keep our economy in englands hands then when it suits hand it over to eu. What is the point in the SNP's 'independence' they will only change the colour of the flag. sellin our freedom, watterin down independence... official SNP policy.
Would you suggest putting on balaclavas and photographing ourselves looking intimidating holding a guns in back alleys etc while all the time hoping our mums don't catch us and give us a belt around the ear? I can't see that being particularly effective.
It makes sense from a stability point-of-view to retain the existing currency in the short-term. At a later point it is SNP policy to hold a referendum on EU membership and the eurozone, this is of course assuming that the SNP remain in govt post independence. An independent Scotland will still have various political parties and we'll still be able to vote according to their merits ... nobody is suggesting an independent Scotland will be ruled by the SNP in perpetuity.
@MrSplashcakes Wow, what a shame there's a world outside Scotland spoiling your "Scotland's the whole wee world" party. Sucks to be you. Time to grow up, now. It's 2012, not 10,000 B.C. Defence is international. Trade and finance are international. Travel is international. And in Europe, praise be, even education and labour are international. The point is to gain independence to decided for yourselves the hows, whys, and whens of those engagements--as well as who you are at home.
I diddnt say it meaning I didn't like the English or England I worded it wrong. I simply meant I miss living there, so since I miss my home I worded it sadly.
@Steely1888 "Scotland is a country , not a county" only if all Scots knew that, we wouldnt have unionists talking Scotland down. LETS WIN INDEPENDENCE!!

Robert Reid, 26, born in Arbroath, currently live in Dundee for the past 2 and a half years. I support Scottish independence because I believe it's the only true way forwards for Scotland.
