  • I wonder if anyone who saw this on Tracy Ullman could have possibly guessed that it would go on to become the most successful scripted television show of all time, animated or otherwise.

  • @xxxrollingrockxxx2 no.lisa is always.the smartest

  • was bart the smart one before?

  • This is really creepy, actually

  • I'm glad that this is up so we can see it but I'm also hoping someday somebody can upload a better quality version of it.

  • @TheBookWorm1718 I'll do so soon...

  • I Hate Videos Filmed On A Computer Shit Quality

  • First appearance of Bart.

  • Alright. Now that the flame below is over, its my time to shine. DIS WUZ RILEE FUNEE. HRD 2 BULEEV DIS WUZ MAYD EN NINETEEN EHTEE SEVUN.

  • People with Parkinsons who film their televisions with their cell-phones should be banned from YouTube.

  • @Ultranothing Actually, it's: Person with carpal tunnel that films from their computer monitor with a flip-camera >:[ Unhappy face!

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix Oh, well...my apologies, then! Still, BAN! BAAAAN! :) Happy face!

  • what did you film this with a potato

  • @preppypenguin01 For your information, it's the latest model of potato.

  • 19th April 1987. So old, seems yesterday.....

  • It is so sick that i cant stop Laugt ;D

  • Lol'd at 0:20

    (pause it at 0:21)

  • you know what they should do? they should remake this with the modern simpsons. i would love to see that.

  • This is creepy, new simpsons are better.

  • yes he is hahaha

  • they look creepy

  • Lisa's comment becomes a thousand times funnier after getting bed bugs in a college dorm...

  • marge said and fall not will fall

  • does anyone know where i can find a better version of this? for a blog

  • Comment removed

  • this is scary

  • THIS IS THE VERY FIRST EPISODE

  • 1987-04-19 I was about 5 years old at the time, this is weird

  • goodnight [petter hmmm

  • marge actually sounds like brenda here haha

  • 0:19 Imagine having that man put you to bed at night...

  • i never liked the rock a bye baby lullaby and i wont sing it if i ever have a kid. i mean its suppose to lull them to sleep but it paints an imagery of a cradle with a baby in it falling down, kinda disturbing

  • @journeymanX You know I never really thought much about it as a kid though I do recall thinking that was pretty violent for a lullaby. But you do have to wonder who originally wrote the song, let's be real, WHO the hell puts their baby's cradle up in a tree?

  • am I wrong or I just heard Marge saying "Goodnight PETER" rather than "Goodnight HOMER"?!?

  • @neapolis88 She says goodnight dear.

  • @pruettcc oh you're right!! what's wrong with me?!? :-)

  • @neapolis88 she says "goodnight, dear."

  • @neapolis88 SSHES says good night dear

  • I think maggie is saying "good night"

  • maggie's sucking in the end sounds like fapping. thumbs up if you agree

  • @wertzustellung Awwwww, no-one agrees with you! Sad, sad face!

  • 0:21 greenyphatomstore

  • Homer and bart are surprisingly philosphical in this early version

  • @VTS1337 Yeah, seems in the later seasons they made Homer and Bart dumb because they thought it'd make the show more interesting.

  • wow maggies eyes formed into a "play" button.

  • You copied someone episode you fuckin moron

  • 0:51 Does make you wonder where that song came from, who the HELL puts their baby up in a tree?

  • I'm reading articles and stuff saying that Maggie said, "Good Night" in this short. But she clearly says, "Dada".

  • @GhostPirate6 You're thinking of another episode where they were talking about Lisa's first word.

  • @SatoshiTheHalfJapMan No I'm not. I watched this short when I wrote this comment and I have watched it with better audio on my Season 1 DVD which includes this short, multiple times. And I've always heard, "dada". In "Lisa's First Word" Maggies says, "daddy" which to me sounds completely different from "dada". I could never hear "Good Night" whenever I watch this short, it's always been "dada" to me.

  • @GhostPirate6 Was she voiced by that actress that just died?

  • @SatoshiTheHalfJapMan Yes, Elizabeth Taylor.

  • starting legend!

  • I don't get what made Bart too upset to go to sleep.

  • @bbSouthstreet he seems to be saying, "dad you totally psyched me dad, it was something about the brain and the mind and, could you be more specific?"

  • To see this at a much higher quality watch the episode of the series called The 138TH episode spectacular.

  • Back when this was being shot, Matt obviously knew absolutely nothing of what he was creating. One of the biggest TV series of all time!

  • get a fucking tripod

  • it suks

  • MARGE SOUND DIFFERENT

  • @crazycute31 it not the same person

  • Initially, there were supposed to be several different kinds of brief animated sketches during "THE TRACEY ULLMAN SHOW"- however, because of the unexpected popularity of Matt Groening's creations, "The Simpsons" soon became the one and ONLY weekly cartoon seen during the program, from 1987 through 1989...just before they became a weekly half-hour series. The animation and voices were quite different from what we're used to seeing these days...

  • i remember watching this :P

  • You filmed this shit with a fucking calculator!

  • @micas96 Calculators, in-and-of themselves, are not equipped with video-recording capabilities.

One wonders: On how many videos did you recite this tired, old, no-longer-funny internet meme?

  • @Ultranothing Your username reflects your depth of thought.

  • @micas96 Actually, my username is an homage to a successful gag gift I'd marketed several years ago - for the person who has everything.

How does one make the leap from the pure high-brow sophistication of "[y]ou filmed this shit with a fucking calculator," to oh-so-poetically gauging the "depth of thought" of others?

A better gauge of "depth of thought" is your crude, indecorous version of an old, tired, unfunny internet meme so as to appear witty, funny, interesting or cool.

  • @Ultranothing Well, not everything you say reflects your true intelligence. I said that as a joke, not to seem sophisticated in any way, I know it is old and not funny, that's why I posted the comment.

But well, each person has their own interpretation of a comment.

  • @micas96 As well, their own interpretation of one's username.

  • @Ultranothing Yes indeed. Also, I searched for that "succesful" gag gift you marketed, and I came up with nothing.

  • @micas96 EXACTLY!

  • @Ultranothing Exactly? I didn't get it... Was it real or fake?

  • @micas96 It was real. It sold well locally, and we promoted it on eBay.

  • @Ultranothing OK then... ByeByeBye

  • @micas96 Allrighty, Whitey. Keep it tightey!

  • omigosh

its so magnificent how the simpsons have changed

    thumbs up if you agree

  • this wouldn't have done 22 seasons for sure...

  • @uzzobb Soon to be 23 XD

  • @uzzobb its up to 23 seasons now :]

  • Why does marge's voice make me want to kill myself?

  • Yo, midna, two words: hyper cam.

  • At 0:21, to me, is the birth of the idiot that is...Homer SImpson!!!

  • sounds like Marge says don't wet the bedbugs bite

  • makes me think of Life In Hell

  • We miss the original Simpsons...T.T

  • where's the version that WASN'T filmed off the monitor by Michael J. Fox?

  • @TheDudeYouHateToMeet ? i dont really get the reference(age,tv show or what?)

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix disease called parkisons that causes violent shaking

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix he's saying it's shakey

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix Parkinson's.

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix he has parkinson's

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix In the 1985 Film "Back to the Future", Michael J. Fox played the role of Marty McFly. In the scene right before he goes back to 1955, Marty is filming his friend, Dr. Emmett Brown, talking about his Time Machine. When 1955 Doc is watching the tape in a later scene, we see that the camera was constantly moving, making it hard to tell what was going on.

In short, they're saying the movement of the camera, plus the quality, reminds them of Marty's video.

  • @ArmedtotheTeethProd oh! lol ty for letting me know btw i know the quality sux

    i had a crappy webcam

  • @xMidnaTheTwilix I think we've all been there!

haha thanks for figuring it out for me...

  • Where can you find the simpsons shorts?

  • First ep ever

23 seasons....... So you dont see this on TV

  • su riza de homero! jaja es lo mejor! xD

  • homer's laugh is very scary

  • wtso(DOT)net

  • A10 / V10

  • maggie is 1 mouth old in this episode

  • I saw this in a simpsons thing with some guy named "Troy" apparently as the host.

It honestly scared me. The animation is so wrong...

  • shouldnt maggie be like 20? lol

  • DANG they looked weird back then.

Some old kids songs are just kind of morbid (no use of a better word). Humpty dumpty fell off the wall and was broken into a million pieces. Jack and Jill fell down the hill, and Jack split open his head (broke his crown). Baby's crib fell over, and the baby fell to the ground. Let your imagination put together the rest. For example, how far did the baby fall, exactly.

  • don't let the bed bugs bite you :)

    -bed bugs!?

    :D loved it!

  • homer's laugh was funny on 0:20
