  • Hello, Im Peruvian. I understand English but sometimes its hard to do it without looking the person who is talking -some synesthesic thing, I believe- Will be great if you could put English subtitles so I will be able to get the mesagge.

Thanks for this, by the way.

    Good vibes.

  • I wonder who today is the public science educator. Michio Kaku is good, but just doesn't quite have the humanist message.

  • its too bad he never lived to see the one night fractal formations. He lived in the time of simple mostly Simple UFO shaped circles. He was a god damn genius though. Contact was a better book then the stupid movie, I cant believe I read that damn thing lol

  • Sagan is my hero!

  • The key to success? A sensual, sexy smile and a turtleneck sweater.

  • his death proves.. there is no god!!

  • What a great human this guy was!!!! Makes me proud to be of his species!!!!!

  • Great CS vid. Watched him since I was a young boy. I never stopped being impressed.

  • Carl Sagan was the man!!

  • Long Live Lord Sagan.

  • I would have loved to smoke a joint with this guy, and just talked. And yes, he was a pot smoker. It's strange that so many consider science 'lame', or 'geekish'. We live in a world where stupidity is rewarded, and intelligence prosecuted. The 21st century is bound to be a rough ride, if things continue as they are...

  • ...oooopppss...for mistake i voted you down,,,,i didnt mean it bro.....im a smoker too ;)

  • No problem. Keep puffing...

  • @pillsareyummy True true true. Sagan a pot smoker?

  • @helloimRickyD Yes, Carl and his wife were pot smokers...

  • I wish i could have met Carl......he had a beautiful mind.......He died in seattle Washington which is about an hour away from where i live.

I'm 17 going on 18 and he's a inspiration to me :) And not many kids my age know who Carl Sagan is :(

  • its nice to read your comment and be able to speculate, just like Carl would do i guess, if we will ever live in a planet just for us who think like him.

I mean : one planet for those who want to fight and destroy other people , one planet for those who believe in capitalism, one planet for those who like Carl, and so on..

I am sure we could live in such a world, but would it be boring? i am sad i will never know

  • Thank you :)

  • no shit, even with religion gone there's still a high chance of humanity destroying itself. as long as humans exist, there will always be conflict. because ideas won't die, and some people will always have a different opinion about a certain something. i'm beginning to lose hope and starts to think that maybe, just maybe, the only way this world could achieve true peace is for the human race to be totally wiped out. i just hope it won't come to that.

  • I agree that we're a primitive species, that we seem to be incapable of productive progress for the sake of humanity. You have to admit, even though we would fight anyway, religion is a big factor holding us back.I think greed is the biggest problem mankind faces,it's much worse than religion.Aliens showing up at the worlds capitols in peace might be the slap in the face we need.Mankind might look at eachother in a new light.

  • It takes intelligence to be a wit - and Sagan is certainly that!

  • Thanks for uploading this recording! Do you know when this took place?

  • It was a few months before he passed away in 1996. His last public speech, or so I've read.

  • @Vollercaeie I thought it was from the CSICOP in Seattle in June of 1994, no?

  • Did they pass a fatty around before he spoke?

  • yes

  • Presumably, but there's no sound of crunching crisps or chocolate...

  • EXCELLENT.

    CARL SAGAN is an inspiration.

  • very funny.

  • Thanks for sharing this, I hear it every now and then. Great inspiration

  • Carl Sagan was incapable of composing a dull sentence.

  • and carl sagan lived on forever, in the hearts of men across the universe...

  • don't take it literally... *sigh*... when we start to populate other planets, hopefully...

  • There is an invisible man in the sky who sees us all, dance puppets dance!!

    Smile ure on tv.

  • Nah, not a chance. Humans are too idiotic and stupid to avoid destroying ourselves. I'll be very surprised if we don't. We're nothing more than a bunch of dumbass, hysterical, chimp-like things that scream and kill each other over imaginary friends.

  • Humanity has only one chance: dumping religion. Unfortunately, I'm not confident that humanity, as a whole, could ever rid itself of this horrible crutch. Even where silly old religions are being dumped, they are being replaced by even more idiotic "new age" garbage. /sigh.

  • You're absolutely right. It is our ONLY chance. I wish I knew why people cant get rid of this crap. I just spent the past hour or so skimming parts of the old testament and yea, some loving being this god is ::Sarcasm:: In addition to it all being bullshit, the god isn't even a loving entity for crying out loud! You should check it out (deuteronomy in particular) if you haven't.

  • What year is this?

  • 1996.

  • is the year of his death?
