@witness124 what "some other guy"? It's from the movie, see the video description. It's a double role, DH plays and sings both DonG and Leporello, it's set in two times and places and one reflects in the other. All the characters appear both in the cinema and in the metafilm. It's very interesting, and much fun!

Musically, speaking he has added a new dimension to Mozart by stripping the stereotype of light and frothy music by imbueing it with a dark and slightly sarcasticly rich voice and spirit

@bodiloto intendevo di vivo, anche a me piacciono moltissimo quelli che ha citato. e aggiungerei Tibbet e Bruscantini, ma sono tutti morti e sepolti, purtroppo, e noi melomani dovremmo fare di necessità virtù, pena la morte della lirica. Prendiamo il meglio di quello che c'è, che so bene essere nella maggior parte dei casi peggiore del passato, che altro si può fare? P. S. a inizio secolo scorso quest'aria era cantata arbitrariamente, al limite del ridicolo, anche da grandissimi baritoni

@bodiloto Gentile Bodiloto, quest'aria cantata da Battistini è sinceramente ridicola. Provi ad ascoltarla e mi dirà. Per quanto riguarda Bruscantini può essere stato discutibile in Don Giovanni, sempre che si privilegi il " fiume di voce", per me che preferisco fraseggio e musicalità, Bruscantini è un grande, e in quasi tutto il repertorio da lui affrontato. Ascolti il suo Scarpia, ad esempio. Dei grandi cantanti che cita Lei io personalmente trovo grandissimo Peppino Taddei. Un caro saluto

Per Scarpia ci vuole la voce scura,bella,la voce di demonio,una voce sadica...La voce di Bruscantini era piccola.Sei simpatico,ciao

@bodiloto Prendo Antenore Reali per farLe un esempio: forse era il baritono con il più gran volume di voce che io abbia mai ascoltato, ma era povero di colori, con fraseggio piatto e sempre uguale. Ecco, Bruscantini era il suo esatto contrario: voce non esaltante ( ma non poi così poca) ma interpretazioni assolutamente magistrali. Poi,c'è chi preferisce il suono e chi l'interpretazione( ma non solo quella, beniteso), poichè il " recitar cantando" prevede, appunto, in primis il canto. Cordialità

Purtroppo Scarpia come personaggio può avere tantissimi "visi",non e detto che un barone deve essere elegante e nobile.Spesso sul palco la cosa più importante e il colore della voce,perché la voce é lo strumento attraverso quale il cantante cerca di trasmettere il personaggio del compositore.Reali aveva questa voce che con l'orchestra vero Pucciniano diventava una meraviglia. Proprio nel Te Deum Reali era sublime!Ciao.

Taddei e la "compania" erano Artisti complessi cioè non soltanto avevano bellissime voci ma ognuno di loro viveva il personaggio nel suo modo,nella sua interpretazione personale!Questi mostri sacri conoscevano lo stile vero Pucciniano e tutti rispettavano la tradizione! La voce enorme la avevano tutti ma nessuno la usava 100%,erano veri Artisti,e conoscevano il mestiere.Da 25 anni e Raimondi canta Scarpia...

Una voce bella,grande,piena di armonici una volta registrata perde tutta la sua bellezza,nello stesso tempo una voce piccola ma fonogenica una volta registrata diventa una "meraviglia",cosi la menzogna artistica si trasforma grazie al microfono e ai tecnici del suono nel......."arte". Ciao.

since I found this video I can´t stop hearing it. I love don Giovanni and I had heard a lot of versions of the opera but no one is greater than this one. this artist has a great maner of singing, he sings in a perfect way. I wishing him to come to mexico to sing in some opera or give a concert.

I can't stop listening to his voice! I don't even know how he can breath. He really is amazing. I also believe it would have been difficult for him to make it more "Brilliant and full of colour" as blichilde said since there is not much in the scenery he is acting in, including other people. I think his expressions are the most he was able to do.
