Wow, and to think i was just fascinated by how Herchey's kisses were made.

The heli shown in PDI is one of ten the UK MOD bought 9 years ago,the MOD had Boeing instal non standard avionics+computers that turned out to be useless.The heli's sat in a hanger for 9 years unable to fly.Recently the MOD has put them into the workshops,stripping/rebuilding them and fitting standard computers/avionics etc costing £1million+ each,this was done due to heli shortages in Afghanistan and also to recoup the millions spent buying them.Note the "Experimental" painted by the crew door.

@silver760 The non standard computers and avionics that the MOD had Boeing fit turned out to be unable to do the job and were blighted with faults and incompatability with other MOD equipment,they tried many software changes to no sucess and in the end they were condemed as being too dangerous to fly due to faults.This is why the MOD had to strip and completely rebuild the heli's down to the last nut and bolt.Alot of parts were time expired even though they had never flown!! Typical uk gov.

Having worked there in the past, I know firsthand, they make the highest quality aircraft to be found anywhere. However, they could be made less costly, if they would cut back on the internal politics and game playing.

@azngangstr0 i guess you maybe joking but if not , most big factories have the workers riding bikes to get around .

I wonder if that is one of the chinooks that are grounded in the RAF because of "software" problems?
