My Convicts used to puff up like that almost every day. Cichlids are the only type of fish to own, in my opinion 'cuz they're pure entertainment and each has it's own personality. BTW- What's the purpose of the terra-cotta pot turned on it's side? I've seen it before but never asked why...
If your oscar is solo he may be depressed if there were several other Oscar with him when you bought him, this happened to my friend when he bought one... if you get him a buddy he will likely cheer up and be active. (Based on prior experience, that is what happened)
the convict owns. my little 4 in convict trys to fight my 6.5 in jaguar cichlid but both back down before anything happens, thank god cus the jag would probably eat the convict lol
(unfortunately I have parted with him since this video was taken...just wanted to prioritize the tank around the oscar...salvini was moved to another tank)
you can do that...just scrub, boil, and sun dry. There is no rule as to how much rock to use. What ever you feel comfortable with. Just make sure the fish has enough room to swim

Nope...about 4 inches, but very thick-bodied.
(unfortunately I have parted with him since this video was taken...just wanted to prioritize the tank around the oscar...salvini was moved to another tank)
