Yep you got us, just bunch of pussies. But you are welcome to come show us how it's done. I'm sure a local chapter of the SCA will hook you up with some loaner gear so you can demonstrate just what a badd ass you are. Or you can just chill and be an internet badass. Your choice.
@bigrt7490 Are you kidding? That's like training for a gunfight by shooting live rounds at living people. How can you learn when you're dead? I'm not an SCA member but I understand train/practince/spar like you fight so when you do use the real thing you use it well. Please, think before you type.
It's called "sword and axe" and no I'm not being sarcastic. We almost always refer to the fighting styles with that form (primary and secondary) sword and shield, sword and spear, sword and dagger ect. You could refer to it as "florentine" after the school of two weapon fighting popular in Italy in the 17th century but its not really accurate as florentine is specifically about fighting with rapier and dagger.
Very good form by both. I wonder if the Baron takes Eskrima. It would definitely help in learning these moves. Although, you will have to practice in your armor. I want to see how the Baron is with a Shield Heavy.
This is the only SCA vid I've seen where the fighters display any form. Most of the time it's two wankers walking flat footed and straight backed, whacking limpwristed at each other with the tips of their swords. paying no attention to the fact that a sword is not a stick, and would actially have only 2 functional edges (not a light saber--can't cut in 360 degrees). Loved it. Makes me wanna fight.
Like anything we have a range of skill levels from rank amateur to expert. I havent seen many great fighting vids on youtube, much of that is cause like anything else, the great moments often happen when no one is taping. Another thing to consider is that like a lot of martial arts at the high level it can be very subtle. When you get two very good fighters together, the fight is often rather "dull" Lots of maneuvering for position, and slight feints that can't be seen in a grainy video. -J
I disagree entirely. Where I'm from, these two would like like arm-flailing psychos. From 0:14 - 0:17 they both just throw shots left and right and hope for the best, arn't even looking to see if there is an open shot. Looks amateur to me.

Wow, awesome form. I thought I was the only guy who actually fights two-handed. Looking to getting involved with the SCA. Well-shot video too.
