  • what kind of motor is that

  • damm is that a vacuum leak i hear and SEE

  • Excellent job guys!

  • Akman got a question...I'm swapping a turbo 5.3 into my 69 firebird, what pan did you use, and motor mounts? HELP me lol

  • @Yfz10r Cool! I used the GM Performance Parts Oil Pan sold specially for swaping LSx motors into older chevy cars. The GM Part number is 19212593. As far as motor mounts go, I just bought adapters off eBay which use the factory SBC 350 mounts and convert the spacing to work with an LSx motor. Hope this helps.

  • its not a Frankenstein, your doing a good job!!! Didi those truck exhaust manifolds fit around the steering box? i just picked some up but have not tried them yet!

  • do those exhaust manifolds clear the pwr steering box?

  • might run better if you plug the huge vacuum fitting on the bottom of the carb.

  • i like your project ...keep the vids coming.

  • nice lincoln precision tig in the background.

  • Come on???? Your building a frankenstein!!!!! Go to year one or gm performance and buy a crate motor!!!!

  • @65JD5010 Sure! if you pay! ;)

  • @akman360 Ya well how much did you pay for the 2002 truck motor????

  • @akman360 Hey I just watched your almost final video. I must say that you are extremely talented and did a great job man!!! Great 67 bird!!! Not my motor choice, but Christ man it looks good in that engine bay!!! Excellent Job!!!!!

  • @65JD5010

A frankenstein? An LS swap is bad ass. I want to do an LS swap on my Chevelle some day.

  • @disturbedone5009 Yes a Frankenstein, New style motor in an old muscle car!!!! But This one is Bad ass, not my choice to do, however they have done an awesome JOB!!!!!

  • Edelbrock carbs are good for about a year then they start to break down, you should invest your money elsewhere. Like a Holley 750 Double Pumper

  • @MrBowtie95 Yup. I'm working on a LQ4 to drop in the car right now. Only this time I have a holley 750 on that edelbrock intake so hopefully it should be tons better. The edelbrock was a dog.

  • @akman360 It should be a good motor, you'll definitely notice a jump in performance.

  • Edelbrock carbs are good for about a year then they start to break down, invest your money elsewhere. Like a Holley 650 dual feed

  • you should have swapped somethin else...those 5.3s are starved for torque

  • @randombk82894 it's getting something else in the next week or so. Either a 6.0L Lq9 or Lq4. That should have more torque.

  • @akman360 great choice...did you ever think about putting an older 455 in it or do u like the newer engines

  • @akman360 5.3s run just as good as a 6.0 i dont know what that dildo is talking about...

  • Cool

    Shoulda used a Holley

  • 6666 viewer!!!!!!!

  • of course it has oil pressure, or it wouldnt fuckin run!

  • Why didn't you leave it fuel injected?

  • I just cant beleive that you bootards did all this work your self the conversion part lol

  • chevy is nice :)

  • Congrats, by % you now have a Camaro with PMD markings on it!

You ruined a real Pontiac with a Chevy engine!

  • @ramairgto72 its still a GM engine, its not like they put a ford or chrylser engine in it thank god lol

  • @ramairgto72 its still a GM engine, its not like they put a ford or chrylser engine in it thank god lol but personally i would have dropped an ls1 with a few goodies in it instead of a little 5.3

  • @alex22192 So if its GM any engine that GM trademarked is game because? A Chevy is not a Pontiac, tho GM used Fisher body as a base for most models the cars themselves were designed and built with the Division engine in mind and even competed on the streets and sales as a DIVISION, not as a GM, as Olds as PMD as Buick as Chevy, different engines, different ideas, different options and different legends, putting a Chevy engine in a PMD car is just as bad as a Mazda engine in a Mustang! O_o!

  • Could you be more specific on the wiring of your altenator?

  • PLEASE!!!! tell me where you got that edlebrock retrofit intake. I cant find it.

  • akman360 did you use the factory thermostat? if so @ what temp does it flow? thanks again

  • awesome...... good to know that your willing to help, its like pulling teeth with other members on this topic. i see you used the upper truck water hose? did you use the lower one as well? aslo the small port on the back side on the driver side of the motor what that for and what did you do for it? can i just plug that off? thanks for all your help akman.

  • @Mld1st Ya, I used the upper truck water hose, but for the lower one I used one that I had lying around the garage that I cut down and make fit. I think the small port on the back of the motor is probably the oil pressure port. this either needs to be capped off or hooked up. there are some other plugs (if I can remember right)but if oil doesn't spray out, they're fine.

  • ok thanks, on the altenator. far as the gaskets go the ones you used are they the standard gasket type two flat gaskets 1 per head? or the single one that are four per head? dont mea to bug jus dont wanna mess this up again, I used the lm7 gaskets the first time and was sucking air big time.

  • @Mld1st They are 4 per head, usually colored orange and set in to the recessed grooves in the intake. The ones you need are FEL-PRO # MS92438. Just search that number on a site like summit racing. Don't worry, you're not bugging I had the same exact questions when I put mine together.

  • helped a lot, how do the foam seals mount and work with those gaskets, also how did you wire your altenator?

  • @Mld1st With the aluminium intake I didn't need any foam seals, it sits above the valley cover plate. There are two wires that originally came out of the voltage regulator, one of them you hook up to the single voltage sensing wire (on the three pin plug) coming out of the alternator. The other one isn't important and can be cut off. You know you've got the right wire when the battery voltage goes to 14V when the car is running and the wire is connected.

  • did you use factory intake gaskets or aftermarket? if stock how did you get the plastic clips to fit the bottom side of your intake.

  • @Mld1st I used the factory LS1 intake gaskets, they're different than the intake gaskets that came with the 5.3L LM7 (Truck motor). Hope this helps

  • what psi and electric fuel pump did u use?

  • REALLY fuckin cool man... this is really Sweet seein one of these 5.3s in a hotrod.. pretty cool EDEY makes a carb conversion manifold.. i had this motor in a 99 gmc,, the thing hauled ass in a truck with 4wd,,, you cant go wrong with somethin like this,,the newer cars make so much power compared to car n trux 10-20- yrs ago,, just find a junked GM pickup, pull the motor, and you got a nice little number that you can make some serious pwr out of, an its unique, 350 firebirds are everywhere

  • Sweet setup man, just about to get my 67 LS swap going. Picked up a 4.8 (seller thought it was a 5.3, I don't care), swapped to ARP rod bolts, installed some 317 heads to drop compression, MLS head gaskets, victor jr efi with 90* elbow, 60lb mototron injectors, edelbrock fuel rails, LS6 cam, underdrive, twin 255lph pumps (one on a hobbs switch with manual override), 15 gallon cell, T70 turbo with LS2 manifolds flipped. Just wanted something to jack with until the 408 is done. Then S480 turbo!

  • Nice work.

  • did you have to re-route the oil lines in the intake valley?

  • @edz300zx sorry...I meant coolant lines

  • I thought the LS series engines were fuel injected?

  • you can convert to carb via the intake mani and MSD ignition, or you can opt for the front mount distributor kit from GMPP

  • Wow this thing is starting to look and sound great. But are you guys using the coil packs on top of the walve colors?

  • ya, the coil packs are controlled by the msd 6LS Box. Doesn't need a distributor and runs great!

  • damn! thats awesome!

  • verry cool

  • cool guys

  • Nice work i love it
