English has many different vowel sounds, but American English uses fewer. This means more words rhyme in American English than they do in normal English, which makes song-writing easier.

e.g. Hot and Hut don't rhyme in English, but they do in American.

Also, many American vowel sounds are more open (requiring less effort to enunciate) and are thus easier to sing.

@SpiritmanProductions I can assure you that they do not rhyme in any part of the USA. As far as American vowels being more open, I cannot think of any vowel sound that is more open at the moment when compared to RP. So, maybe vowel sounds in other British accents?

As to why British people do not have accents when they sing, this is because they are mimicking the original (American) singers. They deliberately sing like that.

This was amazing, but it would've been good to see something else from him, 'cause I think that would've made him even more memorable, and shown more of his vocal range. So many of the singers in this comp over the years have just done the same song in the final as at their audition, and to pick a different song might have given him the edge he needed to win, 'cause he certainly has the talent. That said, the contestants don't have much time to choose their songs.
