Morrissey is quite an interesting chap as they would say. He's got some macho ways about him, and some feminine ways. Which matter not, cause he's a hell of a musical artist. Just an interesting topic. He's not very open or explicit on the issue of his sexuality except perhaps in some of his lyrics. My wife doesn't seem to find him attractive but my college girlfriend back in the early 1990's sure did. Hell, I think he's attractive and that says a lot coming from a guy naturally repulsed.
I have seen him live a couple of times and have his concert on DVD. The best thing for me since I was not old enough when they were together. Great music, at least we have Morrissey. Hope they could reconsider playing again, say so Johnny, Morrissey. Even though Morrissey's band kick ass on the Smiths songs.
The people who say it's a shame how much different he is are probably teenagers who were not even a thought when the Smiths were performing. Look at yourself in 25 years and tell us how much of a shame that is. He is as good as he ever was, even better.
This is definitely the version from Live At Earls Court... his voice is distinctly deeper and stronger on that album than anywhere else I've ever heard it.
Not sure about his voice sounding better now, different yeah. This is very polished. Check out the Smiths doing this from Salford in 86. Aggressive stuff.
Perhaps it is a pedantic point, but just because he performs songs that he wrote whilst with The Smiths doesn't mean he wants to perform them with the other band members. I suppose he would argue they are his words to perform with who he likes. So maybe it isn't as ironic as it seems. Of course i'd be first in line to buy a ticket to see them play if they did come back, but another part of me hopes they don't because it would ruin something don't you think?
ya desde hace 1 año estoy metidaso en lo que es new wave y estoy conociendo musica de The Smiths y en verdad es de csm su musica y bueno ahora con Morrissey tiene aun la voz y la cancion la canta excelente

yeah seriously bro, at least he's still alive unlike most other musicians from his time.
Spadevideopro 2 years ago 2
@yellowdogmike I think he also said it was a walkman in one verse.
Anyone notice he sings here 'I WASN'T joking when I said by rights you should be bludgeoned in your bed"? Bit more honest I guess. lol.
Gotta love Morrissey for his brilliant wit and lack of PC. Still going strong a quarter century +after the Smiths. Legend.
