  • Indeed. And Ghandi was quite conversant with the teachings of Aristotle, who said that a nation's greatness is best assessed by examining how it treats its weakest members. Or something to that effect.

  • So what Ghandi once said could be re-phrased to make just as much sense:

The greatness of a nation can be judged by how they treat their sick.

  • Nice bit o film - I like the feeling it creates. It could be cut a little cleaner though, makes a hell of a difference!

I think the relationship user and doctor is especially interesting in cases where there are non-drug related emergencies the users have to go the hospital for. This is really an untold side of the story and one that deserves attention.

make this into a documentary - tell more of the story...follow them!

  • Thanks.Actually, I shot this in a 2-hour period at the needle exchange where I've been volunteering for the past 9 years (and where I've been a client myself). Then I spent about 30 minutes editing it into a piece I used the next day in a lecture to medical students on how they might incorporate harm reduction into their "moral careers" as physicians. It wasn't really meant to be an actual film, but I posted it anyway because I like the content. Yes, I'll be developing a film out of it. Thnx!

  • I have dealt with much of the same stuff, I know what it's like to deal with prejudice in the medical community. If they find out that you have been an IV drug user, all of a sudden they do treat you like you're a second rate citizen. If only there was some kind of policy that they had to adhere to. Great Vid.
