The detention must not be a "mere" punishment. In civil society, detention would have to mean REINTEGRATION! Actually, in many countries in the world (remember: from countries like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Libia, etc... to countries like U.S.A.!) detention aims at cruel punishment. However I am very bothered about a friend on death row that actually saved my life after I was a victim of a crime. How about letting those who saved someone live, or does that not count? The death penalty was designed for revenge, nothing else. Taking the life of a killer will never bring back the life that he took. It is all for pure revenge. Some people can't get passed that. The death penalty is as barberic as it is. The idea would be more conceivable in a third world country but in the U.S., should not even be tolerated. What it shows the world is that america (a police country and super power) will still have its' untrustworthy side.

You ask, "What do I know about death row?" I worked on death row, in Texas. I was there when Juan Soria severed the arm off of a 76 year old Chaplain who's only crime was to trust an inmate with his hand. This man was there to pray with inmates, and his arm was nearly severed off by an evil person. And I have to live with that forever.

There are two things that get me about death penalty: One, no state can ever be one hundred percent sure it is executing the right person (rather than an innocent person). Two, wouldn't it suck a lot more to spend a life locked up rather than getting killed?

the maximum sentence for murder should be life with the possibility of parole. i believe the longest someone should be denied day parole is a year maximum which in that time is more intended to decide what role you will play and should work on bringing them back into society.

My cousin's dad is in prison for attempt of murder, battury, assult with a deadly wepon, assult and child abuse. He tried to kill my cousin and his mom. He gets out of prison in 2032. I wish he would get life in prison, because when he went to court i went two he yelled at my cousin and his mom saying "When i get out of here i will come hunt you down and kill you and Gahzi" (Thats my cousins name) He went to huntsville, texas prison and was beging to go back to his old prison.

People who land themselves on death row obviously deserve some sort of punishment. However, killing someone will never bring back the person(s) hurt or killed by the inmate. Additionally, it costs more to execute an inmate than it does to house them for the rest of their life. Lastly, isn't isolating someone for the rest of their life without possibility of parole is much harsher and crueler than the death penalty?

When i go to the store. I know i am going to pay X for Y. this is a fact of life. If i kill. I should accept that there is a chance i am going to have to accept X for Y. You have to pay for FAR more expensive trials (capital trials ALONE cost more than a LWOP sentence), appeals (which are necessary because 138 people have been released from death row for being proven innocent; some came within hours of being executed wrongfully), and time on death row:

You should read In Cold Blood by Truman Capote; it's a good book, but it also presents ideas from the opposite view. As far as the law goes it has to be black and white in order to prevent chaos, but our views of criminals don't have to be. Boxing people off and saying they are different from the rest of accomplishes nothing.

No, it's sad that here in the US the offenders are the ones with all the rights. The victims never asked to be killed. Where were THEIR rights? I work in juvenile detention, I guarantee you the kids we have locked up, HAVE IT BETTER than a good percentage of the population. Clean bedding and clothing every day, 3 hot meals, protection from harm, school, counseling, and help-groups 5 days a week, along with rec, and a library. And some of these kids have done some despicable things.

However I am very bothered about a friend on death row that actually saved my life after I was a victim of a crime. How about letting those who saved someone live, or does that not count? The death penalty was designed for revenge, nothing else. Taking the life of a killer will never bring back the life that he took. It is all for pure revenge. Some people can't get passed that. The death penalty is as barberic as it is. The idea would be more conceivable in a third world country but in the U.S., should not even be tolerated. What it shows the world is that america (a police country and super power) will still have its' untrustworthy side.

You ask, "What do I know about death row?" I worked on death row, in Texas. I was there when Juan Soria severed the arm off of a 76 year old Chaplain who's only crime was to trust an inmate with his hand. This man was there to pray with inmates, and his arm was nearly severed off by an evil person. And I have to live with that forever.

My cousin's dad is in prison for attempt of murder, battury, assult with a deadly wepon, assult and child abuse. He tried to kill my cousin and his mom. He gets out of prison in 2032. I wish he would get life in prison, because when he went to court i went two he yelled at my cousin and his mom saying "When i get out of here i will come hunt you down and kill you and Gahzi" (Thats my cousins name) He went to huntsville, texas prison and was beging to go back to his old prison.

People who land themselves on death row obviously deserve some sort of punishment. However, killing someone will never bring back the person(s) hurt or killed by the inmate. Additionally, it costs more to execute an inmate than it does to house them for the rest of their life. Lastly, isn't isolating someone for the rest of their life without possibility of parole is much harsher and crueler than the death penalty?

You have to pay for FAR more expensive trials (capital trials ALONE cost more than a LWOP sentence), appeals (which are necessary because 138 people have been released from death row for being proven innocent; some came within hours of being executed wrongfully), and time on death row:

You should read In Cold Blood by Truman Capote; it's a good book, but it also presents ideas from the opposite view. As far as the law goes it has to be black and white in order to prevent chaos, but our views of criminals don't have to be. Boxing people off and saying they are different from the rest of accomplishes nothing.

I can feel pity, but at the same time some of these guys have kidnapped and murdered children and had no pity on them, all they wanted was to have sex with the kids or women, they only wanted to fulfill their own sexual sick desires... If an innocent man is here, its a travesty, and Im sure no one believes he is innocent.. if we are human for the sake of innocent ones, we should capitulate...

No, it's sad that here in the US the offenders are the ones with all the rights. The victims never asked to be killed. Where were THEIR rights? I work in juvenile detention, I guarantee you the kids we have locked up, HAVE IT BETTER than a good percentage of the population. Clean bedding and clothing every day, 3 hot meals, protection from harm, school, counseling, and help-groups 5 days a week, along with rec, and a library. And some of these kids have done some despicable things.

Take a look on the innocent project site & c how easy it is 2 get a murder conviction. More people in Texas are being exonerated due 2 DNA 136 this yr corrupt officials put them there if u have $300,000 u may get off otherwise ur lawyer will sleep thru the case. There's no truth & no jusice in America.

You should read some of the crimes these people have committed. I have 4 kids, I can't imagine one of them going through the things that some of those poor kids have. Anyone that can walk into a room a kill a kid with a fuckin hammer is a monster. Killing a kid with any method is something I can't harldy think about. If DNA puts them at the crime scene kill their fuckin ass and move onto the next one.

Wow, some 22 year old college student from France, makes a video aiming to draw from the public.....sympathy, for the variety of monster that one must be in order to qualify for a spot on death row. This video is so wrong it defies any measure of sanity. I think most of these ultra-liberal, know-it-all, bleeding heart college students should spend a lot more time listening and learning, and a lot less time making noise with their absurd, naive opinions, about the world around them.

We all make choices in life. Ive wanted to fucking kill someone on plenty of occasions but never have because I know all that I would give up. Give me a break. I dont feel bad for these fucking losers one bit. We all have trying times in our lives. They treat them like this is so that they dont put up a fight when it comes time to put em down. I say they stop all the appeals and put em down quicker while they are still scared so that they can actually feel the fear of their repercussions.
