  • Their albums are brilliant, but their live shows are... there are no youtubes that can transport you into the joyful madness, and I have looked hard. See them live. They project an energy from the stage that is so far beyond confetti and balloons... they are something else.

  • 4:20 minutes long......

  • que pedo con la voz xD

  • it's so great to see a band really try as hard as they do after all this time. they could just ride nostalgia but they don't, they try their hardest every time. < 3

  • so glad i saw them live!!

  • this is amazing but youtube does their sound no justice, they must be seen live

  • amazing, it was a bear in the Mexico City show, LOL

  • such a great performance, at our show it was a bear though not a gorilla lol

  • Great song! Long live the Lips!

  • Most of the music I like is made by people half his age

  • Does anyone else notice michael's shirt changes throughout the video, like at 1:34 and 3:14 its red, but at 2:23 its black. what the boobs?

  • the first time i heard was at a show in Atlanta on acid it was awesome a little intense but then at the part "when she's high" it got groovy it was awesome

  • Flaming Lips is the kind of band that would make Salvador Dali proud..saw them in Orlando the other day..got to say it was the best concert I have ever been to and I have been to quite a few..:) Love Wayne!

  • they are still breaking new ground and keeping their garage background alive. FUCK!

  • i saw them perform this song last night in Austin at ACL, with a bear suit instead of a gorilla. i thought it was the best song of the performance

  • I'm going to see them for the first time this Saturday. Words cannot explain how excited I am!

  • @mrmute05 Me too! : ]

  • i cannot wait to have this experience live in october! :D

  • that was like the worst crowd ever

  • @regrhcp

Seriously. Maybe 50 people were as into it as they should have been.

  • Everyone thinks Wayne has an awful voice. But if you think about it, how many 50 year-old's do you know that have been singing for 30 years can still sing today? let alone sing on the shoulders of someone dressed as a gorilla.....

  • @georgeharrisonfan789 aye aye!!

  • who the fuck disliked this video???!!!

  • Drozd's voice is just mindboggling awesome.

  • Dear flaming lips i am doing my best to listen to every song you have created by starting backwards. I make new favorites every day. Mr ambulance driver is my all time favorite. Right now im working on telepathic surgery then Oh My Gawd!!! I mysellf am from chiago but my friends and i went to Tennessee to see you perform DSOTM at Bonnaroo. • fukn awsome, just saw them do this at bonnaroo and this is the best clip of this song online. thanks, check out my channel for vids from bonnaroo and other festis!

  • i think everyone should ride a man in a gorrila suit and have rabbit people dancing in the corner

  • Favourite Lips song. :)

  • Anybody see them in Houston sunday? Fucking awesome concert.

  • Thank god, Flaming Lips went back to their roots on this album..feels so good!

  • the flaming lips..great band

  • thinks this is just crazy enough.

  • who cares? im enjoying the flaming lips!

  • Sit back and Enjoy!!!

  • @shasaki2 Yes, but it does make for a good performance. And The Flaming Lips are much better musically then The Mars Volta, stop being a fuckwit.

  • @shasaki2 shut the fuck up and if you dont like this then just dont watch it

  • @pepe7drum the back side of my nutsack smells like an asshole..

  • simply amazing, embryonic is so unique

  • @SJ363 the back side of my nutsack smells like an asshole..

  • @dappergen Then you need to take a bath.

  • ...best show of my life

  • who's that skinny kid who plays the conga and guitar? He was there when i went to see them in august and i didnt know

  • Says below its Derek Brown

  • This is absolute brilliance at its best.

  • did anyone else notice the time is 4:20?(Close enough to it)

  • This reminds me of Hawkwind...love it.

  • I love that break at 1:24, great chord progression.

  • lol!

I scrolled away for a little, next thing I know Coyne was riding a gorilla.

This band is so weird, and we need that.

  • Was that shot in Brussels maybe?

  • Comment removed

  • No. This (as with Convinced of the Hex) was shot last August as they toured America (thus the reference to "hopped on the bus"). It's probably several shows edited together and the shots with the panda look like San Diego 8/15/09. Check out my How the West Was Won playlist for more from this tour.

  • Loved the gorilla. That cracked me up. Shame to have missed the Lips in OKC for New Year's Freak out. :<

  • loving the gorilla haha! only just picked up yoshimi a month or 2 ago, flaming lips are my latest favourite band, next time you guys are in the UK and playing scotland i'll be there

  • Yes, this is got it goin on

  • NEW YEARS CONCERTTT!!!! its gonna be ammmaaaazziinngggg!

  • amaaziiingg i am a new fan to The Flaming Lips!!!!!!!!!!!! i only heard them a few weeks ago, surprisingly. i cannot believe i could miss this!! i loooove it =)

  • Good to hear it. I am a newer fan as well. They're music is so influencial.

  • there are 5 members here, 4 in the OKC Zoo DVD. who is #5? and is that still Drozd on the doubleneck? someone else or he has gained some weight, and i don't mean that in an offending way. great vid i can't wait for them to hit cornell...

  • @lionourgraves the guy playing the bongos, is most likely a session musician, mean he just gets payed to do the shows by the band, and isnt actually in it, he def not in the band, and yes that is still drozd

  • "The guy with the bongos" is Derek Brown (he plays guitar on other songs), a longtime associate of the band who's played with them since Pitchfork in July '09(though not Australia, Japan). He's not an official member in the sense that Coyne, Drozd, Ivins and now Kliph are, but he is a member in the sense that he's "part of the band" that creates their live experience plus he's helped them out behind the scenes for many years.

They've since added a 6th member, Ray aka "guy playing the gong."

  • I love this song so, SO much. The gorilla part is hilarious, I was so confused when that happened in London last month

  • i am so making a short film to this song

  • Was that Brussels?

  • when shes high!

  • we need a dvd of this

  • Oh ya, it's time to ride the monkey!

  • I feel extremely grateful to the Lips to have made an album so good and daring TODAY. It makes me feel very alive and I'll love them forever.

  • @mantra3000 whats the album called...I'm a new fan to the Lips and I gotta buy one of their CD's!

  • @Hammersmashed68 The album's called "Embryonic".

  • Pink Floyd all over this track, and that's a very good thing.

  • i prefer the connections that many critics drew between this and miles davis jazz fusion era... but i can see how dozens of influences could be seen, mashed into this single album... (also a very good thing)

  • It was Wayne who 1st brought up Miles (and Lennon) before they even recorded Embryonic, later saying the Miles bits pushed out the Lennon. While they were making it he referred to its sound as Miles and Floyd having a fight.

There are countless traces in the Lips' work (the 3 mentioned above consistently reoccurring) sometimes obvious but twisted, other times beyond recognition (i.e. Vein of Stars texture influenced by Miles/ Gil Evans). The Lips epitomize "influenced" and "influential."

  • @psychexfutureheart what Miles are you reffering too? Davis? btw you seem like a very knowledgable person from looking at your previous comments

  • Yes Miles Davis. I was responding to BobMillahhh's comment about Davis and Floyd influnces, but for some reason it didn't come up under that comment so it came out confusing and out of context.

Just thought I'd chime in today when I saw what people posted since there seemed to be some confusion.

Psych Explorations of the Future Heart (PsychExFutureHeart) is an upcoming publication about life, rock n roll and the Lips. See my channel for more info if you're interested.

  • The intro is very Boredoms-esque, the whole song is sublime. I've ordered my copy of Embryonic and I can't wait!

  • Ilove this clip,magical!!!

  • incredible

  • Always an amazing and crazy show. I love this song. My favorite song on the Embryonic album.

  • Is this actually Treasure Island? Don't remember him hopping on the gorilla

  • me either. I dont think its treasure island.

  • Holy cock and balls...this gives me such flashbacks of Treasure Island. I'm singing along with them! Yeah!

  • AMAZING!!!!!!

  • that echo effect yelling reminds me of this is radio clash, bad ass
