I saw Doyle at a Taylor clinic in Corpus Christi in 1997 or 98. Just amazing and a really nice guy. He told the story of how he got to jam with Grandpa Jones! I need to go cry now...
for those of you who said they quit guitar after listening to this, don't do it. Some of the greatest songs are very quite simple. Guitar is something you'll never master. There's always room for learning!
When i first heard you play Doyle it was at Harvest Christain Fellowship in Riverside. You were playing songs from your Hurricane, Earthquakes and Tomatoes CD . I never heard a acoustic guitar player as good as you.I like it so much i bought the CD,,well i am sad to say that Cd was stolen from me...Then i thought about it , the songs blessed me so much that the peson who took it would also blessed too.God Bless Doyle Dykes .
Now you know why that guy that wrote the tune, United Breaks Guitars, was so pissed about them breaking his Taylor. I don't know if it was a T-5 but I heard that that caused a temporary sales increase for Taylor and they did give him a new guitar. That's a good tune but Doyle here is in another league - he's one of the greats!
@ChristianEvolution Its a modification of the B bender technique. Its like a wammybar without the wammybar. Just press down on the strings you wanna bend near the tuning pegs.
I saw Doyle in Central FL last year. I ended up purchasing his signature acoustic Taylor guitar (DDSM.) This is absolutely the best playing/sounding guitar I've ever owned. He played and signed the guitar for me. The problem I have listening to Doyle play the guitar is my ears can't listen as fast as he plays.
There are people on YouTube that play so well I wouldn't even get my guitar out of the case around them. I been playing 46 years and some of these guys make me feel like I don't know anything at all.
if you are one of the 8 dislikes on this video, go find a cliff. this is amazing. even if you don't like the music, you have to understand the true talent. it's like sexy-U2-ragtime-banjitar shizzle. wowzer.
I have to agree how can any one not like this man's playing and ability, superb, wonderful... as many superlatives as you can think of do not do the likes of Doyle, Tommy Emmanual and the late great Chet. long may they continue to amaze us.
the guitar is super ace. its a freak. if you play it punky its got great chunky attack. stick it through say blues driver and crank it up in electric mode it just comes alive in your hand. that one looks a little flash but in pure wood finish its ruff and ready. It means you can take it to new ways of music. these guys play it sort of 'pro'. forget that! its a future guitar. ...new values.. hot!
@sandmansam We all feel that way...Guitar playing, like life, is described best by these three words. Success, Failure and Redemption. Just remember to NEVER STOP playing!
Taylor T5 , beautiful guitar but somehow don't like how it sounds. I woudn't say that it's an electric-acoustic guitar, it's rather a half electric - half acoustic one ( a bit "handicapped" ). I was planning to buy one but not anymore. Dissapointed ... after I've watched almost all the videos on youtube about T5...
lol i had a dream he was in my house and i asked him to play guitar for me and he kept saying no so when i woke up i got a video from him playing guitar on youtube as an message
Doyle rocks! He could play in Slayer just as he is without changing his tone, clothes n haircut. Ppl would go nuts hah imagine that?! Never happen but its wishful.
To a couple of the other posts, I love to play it unplugged.
It does not have the volume and depth of a full bodied acoustic but, it has a beautiful tone. The individual notes are very pure and clear.

can you get a pedal which gives the electric sound to an acoustic amp? If so, what types are the best
