I would venture to state that half the famous people out there that are celebrated and desired are not necessarily gorgeous to look at... and if someone just saw them in the streets and didn't know anything special about them, they'd be thought of as plain or funky.

Back in the 60s/70s... both of those gals had a t.v. show. Mary Tyler Moore had an edge over Rhoda and was more popular; but they were both extremely popular. They weren't models; they were personalities.

It was the 70s show called the Mary Tyler Moore Show. Mary was the main the character and she had a best friend who was Rhoda. Mary was the cute, wholesome person and Rhoda was basically seen as the sidekick. Pretty much Mary's shadow in my opinion.
