I don't know what speakers you fit into your amp but I'm sure those aren't the original HH because you have a good sound. I also have a VC50 which sounds great. It was impossible when it featured original speakers. I tried some models and the finest I found about my taste is the Eminence Swamp Thang.
Actually I was using the original HH in this video! I must admit that I also hate those speakers, but if you notice i didnt put the camera in front of the speakers to record the video. Now im using a mesa boogie, but some time ago a played in a vc50 with el34's and vintage 30's. I almost sold my mesa. hahaha
@gustavofujiki The use of EL34 and the camcorder out of the axe can explain those good sound. It is my pleasure to upgrade and customize cheap amps. I've to say the speakers I fit into my VC50 sound particulary good with 6L6 GC and too fat with EL34. I sometime think of buying a top end expensive other one but after some électronical mods, that VC50 sounds so good...
i play virtually everything will this amp do really smooth lead settings? And metal wise will it get BIG low end? I really dont want a birttle sounding amp though, so is this not the amp for me?
The Laney VC50 is a amp that sounds more vintage. The amp´s drive is very smooth and have enought gain to play fast and easy as you can see but don´t have that big low end. Maybe the tony iommi head or mesa´s are better choices for you. =)
see im quite fussy i suppose i love that british roar but i suppose for metal i want a mesa type low end. Would it be possible with a cheap EQ like danelectro fish and chips?
Hi, I´m not selling the amp anymore. I think that this Laney has a vintage kind of sound and don´t have THAT low end that you are searching. Behind the speakers is open, so less punchy sound. This amp is amazing, but for metal I use an equalizer to boost an extra low end. Otherwise it has a very creamy lead tone for solos, as you can see in the video.
Actually, i'm using EL34's right now, though the brand is Sovtek, and i've heard those are often brighter and more harsh than other brands, gonna try to get my hands on some mighty fine JJ 6L6 GC tubes and see how the sound changes. BTW. I tried out a Peavey 6505 today and i must honestly say that your amp sounds better in the clip than the Peavey did! :O Hopefully mine will aswell with some better tubes in there :)
Nice showing of the VC50, i have one of those myself actually :) I really liked the sound you got from yours, though. Do you know what kind of tubes you are using in the amp? I find mine a little harsh sounding and like an icepick to the ears actually :/
i have an LC50. Do you know the differences between them? thanks!

Is this a good amp if you wanna play heavy metal? Or do you recommend any other at the same price.

Thanks!
Im using 6l6´s and 12ax7´s
Try to use low settings for the treble. In the clean channel I put the bright button off and the trebble only on 2,5 (maybe you can see).
To the solve the icepick , try to use EL34´s. I didn´t try it yet, but I read this tip somewhere.
Its not on in this video, but I use an equalizer to boost some bass. The final sound is veeery good =D
