  • Thanks for these tips. Very helpful. ps.I knew u had Nail Magic on before u had even said anything. I used to use it all the time & I love it. I haven't used it in aloooong time though. )-: I was actually looking at the first 2 Sally Hansen products u showed us, yesterday but wasn't sure. I'll def have to try them out.

  • Any permanent product overlaid on the nail plate such as acrylic or gel etc stops the nail from absorbing keratin. Once the overlays have been removed, it takes approximately 4 - 5 months for the keratin levels to return to normal.

Overlays may look nice in the short term but they do much damage in the long run.

  • LOL, thanks I never thought of that. After that bottle finished I picked up Pre-natal vit (even though I'm not preg) and I've been taking those now for about 2 months. That's ALL I'm doing and I'm noticing SUCH a change in my nails. When I do my next vlog, I think I might mention you telling me about this though to warn others : )

  • I'm going through this situation right now myself. It's a nightmare! I'm going to try this and see what happens for me. THANK YOU for posting this! I've been looking for help from someone who has dealt with what I'm dealing with.

  • I love your nail buffer!! Where'd you get it?!

  • I picked it up at an outlet store (similar to Big Lots) : )

  • I hope it all works for you!! Good luck! You won't regret it I'm sure!

  • Man I have tried to grow my nails out but I think I need more vitamins because they always break off Grrrr,.....I might try some vitamins for that love that you are vlogging about your journey to healthy nails :)

  • I use to wear acrylics all the time. Then finally, last year over the summer, I took them off. I bought the Nail Magic and the Odorless Garlic Growing Nails and omg, they both helped my nails grow. So its been a yr now and my nails are healthy and strong. I even do my own nails, so I dont go to the salon and waste money LOL. I m considering doing Nail Tech. But we'll see! Good luck with this!

  • Nice, are you still doing your no poo as well?

  • great video by the way

  • I know what you are talking about because I am a licenced ethetician/nail technitian too and I had gel nails on for over 8 yrs straight and I went on a journey to grow my own nails and now I have my own long strong nails.

The triple strong by sally hansen works really well for me. Check out my videos , you might find helpful info that can help you too.;o)

Nail magic works well but if you check the triple strong ingredients and nail magic they are pretty similar. Good luck with your nail journey

  • Thank you so much for all the tips!! I am a nail biter and have been trying, and trying to stop, but as soon as they start getting long I bite them off again. So I am glad that you are doing this on YT, sort of like a little coach for me to help me to grow my nails! :D

  • Another great thing for your nails..is T-tree oil......I'ts especially good for toenails..

It's also good for your hair..

    It's an incredible product all around..but especially good for nails..toenails too..!~ :D

  • Very interesting! Ill be cheering you :) I have a question, so now your not going to cut your cuticles for a while???

  • I try not to cut my cuticles ... it can cause serious infections. After my acrylics I was battling my cuticles and hangnails ... I have been doing hot oil manicures and they are helping : )

  • i use hair, nails & skin from GNC and i only have to ta ke 2 a day and works perfect for me.

  • Hey E, well this is definitely a change for me. Some times it's hard cuz I miss em but I'm proud with how my nails are coming along : )

  • Great video!

  • Thank you SO much : )

  • I took my nails off a swore that I was going to give them a rest for a while. My friend begged me to put them back on for her wedding. I sttod my ground even tho it was hard and still don't have my nails done. My fingernails feel so such better Good Luck!

  • When did you take your nails off? What did you do when you took them off? Do you have any suggestions you can give? It's definitely a challenge : )

  • @deannario they have been off for about a month now. The pain I felt after i took them off was unbearable so I went to Sally'd beauty supply and bought Gelous Nail Gel it has strengthed my nails alot but like the products you tried it peels off my nails after a few days so I reapply. I really like it they don't hurt anymore and actually they seem to be growing faster. I also take gelatin vitamins and the biotin. Also The first week i took them off I put on glue ons. but now I am free. lol

  • We can do this journey together then ... : ) I enjoy having them off too although sometimes I miss them but I'm proud of myself that I'm doing this. I didn't do the glue ons. I didn't want anything on them because they DID hurt BAD too. I have a feeling it will probably take another couple months to have anything that will keep me from missing my acrylics.

  • Thank you for sharing with us.

  • Awe thank you so much. I hope it helps someone too ..

  • I'd say it is due to the stuff you are taking, more than whatever stuff put on nails. Biotin is a very important cofactor for enzymes involved in the synthesis of stuff that is present in skin/hair/nails cells and it's mostly absorbed through food. More biotin -> more working enzymes -> more cell production/renewal. Collagen and gelatin are giving you extra protein, but they are broken down before absorption, so I guess they are working more as amino acid supplements. Sorry for the geekiness :P

  • I agree. I think though that what I'm putting on my nails, the Nail Magic, is strengthening them so that they don't break. And I know that messaging them with the vitamin E oil is definitely helping. It's all working together : ) I LOVE the geekiness : )

  • I think these nail vlogs will be very helpful! Awesome that your taking us along on this nail journey with you! Good luck! :D

  • Awe your welcome. I have been doing it alone for the past month and 1/2 and I thought you guys might find it useful to see the process and maybe someone else is dealing with it too. I also didn't find any vlogs like it soooo... : )

  • i have a question about how to make nail polishstay on your nails?

  • make sure there isn't any oils on your nails. Use only non-acetone polish remover (but ones that don't contain oils). Lightly buff your nails with a shamy nail buffer or a 4-way buffer. Use a base with thin layers then your color (also use thin layers) and you should find that your polish will last a little longer. Think of your nails as jewels not tools : )

  • im going to do this with you =]

  • YEAH ... please keep me posted with how your doing ...

    : )

  • @deannario i will =]

  • okay so i have tried the vitamins and the nail magic and it has been 2 months already and my nails are still very weak and they still split. also the nail magic on me peeled so bad.

but i guess it's diff for everyone.

    Good Luck! <3

  • I'm making sure to use it on clean nails and I've been using REALLY thin layers. I don't notice peeling so much as the tips wear the most, probably because I'm use to using my hands and don't think of my nails as jewels like I should : )

  • Stupid question..what does it mean wehn you have strong ridges in you nail?

  • Not a stupid question at all. Ridges, or furrows, are usually a result of illness or an injury to the nail cells in or near the matrix (the part of the nail that contains nerves, lymph and blood cells - cuticle). I would avoid the use of metal cuticle pushers and use cotton tipped orangewood sticks. Message is your friend : )

  • Thank you for this video...very informative and good luck with the nail growth :-)

  • Thank you ... I'm hoping it helps someone : )

  • omg.....

how long did it take you to take your license?! i LOVE doing my nails & such. a license would come handy :) thank you!

  • LOL ... well when I got my license it was FOREVER ago. If I remember correctly I was in school for like 3 months. I had to complete 200 hours of study (doing actual clients) before I could graduate. I have NO idea if it's still the same. It was a fun time though.

  • Good Luck Deanna!!!

  • I will be taking this journey with you! I am trying to grow my nails out as well. I just took mine off about 2 weeks ago and trying to do this myself without having to go a professional every week. So if you don't mind showing us how you do your manicures at home that would be awesome!

  • good luck!!!! looking fab as always...
