  • @CookieMama90 im in the process of learning too. didnt know there were 3 kinds of SL. i grabbed a CSL book. just getting done with the introduction. should i return the book and get ASL instead? is there that much of a difference?

  • I love this video.. I am deaf! But I have CI I can talk! :)

  • I am a hearing person. My language is english. If my mouth was taped I would feel devastated. I loved this video. Awesome work. Keep up with the Deaf advocacy.

  • The first time I saw this video, I had not learned any sign language at all and I had no idea about any schools trying to make Deaf children speak. I've learned a little and now I can understand most of being said. Also, my ASL teacher (who is Deaf) has told me about how she grew up in a school where signing is wrong. That's ridiculous.

  • I enjoyed to watch your vlog. It's very great vlog. I agree with you 100% and I support all deaf american!!! God bless you....

    Luis

  • Awesome video but why is not subtitled? Whoa, I jumped at hearings for their lack of education in deaf awarenes. I begged them to put words on their song, their videos of any kind and much more. I am deaf, please have heart to put words for hearing to understand your plea.. Peace..Teamwork is a best tools.

  • Language is an important aspect of learning. How can a person learn how to talk if they have not learned a language first? Really, I am confused over the debate of ASL vs Speech/Cochlear. Should it not be ASL, English AND speech? The more a person knows....the more choices that they have. I've seen the results of narrow focused teaching....4th grade reading levels in a High School graduate. It's time that both ideals begin to work together.

  • I really like it alot.

  • Could you add subtitles to this video? I'm trying to learn ASL, but i'm not very good right now.

  • omg i know her Caitlin Lynch it is natalie why sign i love it it is not werid this is cool i knew

  • Greetings, sir. I just finished ASL 101, and I would like you to know, that even though I am hearing, I understand your point completely. I have, in fact, asserted to my professor that I feel that everyone should learn ASL. It's a beautiful and useful language, but most hearing people don't recognize that fact until they give it a try! If you put CC on this, for those that don't know ASL, I will share it on my Facebook wall. Thank you for presenting Veditz' message in fresh new way. :)

  • @pastryvegan I'm in the process of learning ASL. I, too, think that everyone should learn this beautiful language. I understand that many hearing people don't recognize that fact, coming from a close-minded family. Thank you for the video!

  • heey there i noticed there s only one video while it seem like ya all capable of making so much more films to impact and expose the true meaning of being deaf and its own culture to this world of unknown people such to those hearing people, which often happen to have deaf child unexpectedly, and this video is what they need to watch instead of knowin more of cochlear implants. so excellent vid by the way .. loved how ya emphases that it is given by God and we r still blessed with able to see.

  • I'm a little sad. A CODA friend shared this with me but because there are no subtitles or information in your description I did not understand the message. I do know some sign thanks to my CODA friend, but not enough to interpret. Could you please put something in the description to let those of us who are not wholly engrossed into the deaf culture understand this message that is so important to you?

  • CODA Sam loves it !

I'd like to share it with my H/H and Deaf kids at school. Please let me know when it is captioned. Thank you for sharing !!!

  • This is a powerful message you are sending across the globe.

My hearing parents discussed whether I should get an implant or not when I was little. Fortunately, I didn't get one and that was the best decision they ever made. To the parents who are raising them, you are doing an outstanding job! No matter how insignificant this video may be to the world, you are actually making a difference preserving Deaf culture and our very own language.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Bravo, amazing video. Hopefully those ruthless people who are interested on or encourages cochlear implant understands this.

  • This is a awesome video, I am deaf and have Cochlear Implant... I have been using American Sign Language since I was three years old and still use it.. Even though with this video it shows that alot of people take offense of the deaf that they MUST wear Cochlear Implant and stop signing and expect you to talk.. This is NOT true.. people can make their own choices weather if they want to be completely deaf or have CI it does NOT matter make your own choices

  • @yourock206 I'm taking Deaf Studies in college right now and what they're telling us is that most of the controversy comes from the fact that in some places they have deaf people make an agreement not to use ASL if they get a cochlear implant and that quite often hearing parents think that oralism and cochlear implants are the best way for their deaf children to be "normal" and to function properly in the world, which we know is not true.

  • @22Di44 Good comment. thanks.

  • very good

  • god, you people. i'm so sick of the whole sheltered, isolated society. i'm SO sick of it. i'm deaf and i do know how to sign, but i think knowing how to talk right is VERY important. get over it. today's technology is getting better, so doctors will have kids to learn talk first then sign. :)

  • @uhurstupid Did you read others? Everyone loves our video but not you. you are one of few stupid people that made stupid remarks. If you dont like our video, dont watch the video then. We are not isolated society. You must be brain washed by the group that had been obessed with closed society or isolated society theory. We are simply protecting our language. We are blessed what we have. I do pity you.

  • @handybit i think person maybe strick oralist. i am deaf but talk but perfer sign, easier communicate. at my school in groups i only catch part of conversations even if i can talk good, but when with deaf friends group we can all talk and understand all whole conversation. talking maybe good, but ASL is so much easier to communicate and faster so no misunderstood. i LOVE this video so much.

  • @uhurstupid - I thought your comments were a bit harsh, but I also agree that whether we're deaf or not, we ALL have to be careful about consciously and unconsciously defining ourselves and determining our capabilities based on what our society defines as acceptable and unacceptable, strong and lacking. Sometimes, we have to redirect our energy and stop trying to get people to hear us and simply... BE. Sometimes, we have to decide to simply create the existence we desire.

  • Speecheless...wow....

  • Beautiful VLOG!!!!

  • Like this very much.... however why dont you subtitle this so that hearing parents of deaf kids can see this and realize they're suffocating their kids if they are denied sign language?

  • HELLO! This is an AMAZING video!! If you could please add CC or subtitles that would be GREAT I would LOVE to pass this along to some of my hearing friends who don't know ASL. Thank you again for this beautiful video!!

  • What a touching! I love it...BRAVO!!

  • what a stupid video who care if the kid dont sing or talk they could use boths

  • dis is interesting , i was learning sign language a year ago after the

class i havent been practicing, so i forgot a bit

    iwish there were subtitles

  • BRILLIANT! it proves enough that i do understand you fully because I'm from UK, I can understand your story very clear, How come? I'm from Deaf family and BSL users as i dont know awful alot about ASL only little but i do KNOW alot about 'SIGN LANGUAGE' as it's my first language!!

  • excellent show!!

  • Hello Handybit! This is CHAMP video! I really enjoyed!!! I hope you make many more meaningful messages like this one! *smile* Great acting by everyone!

  • Hey Handybit...LOVE this video, very creative and crystal clear!! You ought to make subtitles, not "someday" but soon, pretty please, this needs to go out to the hearing world as well...as this message is very important. Make more vlogs like this, if you all can, very creative!! :-)

  • hello everyone. thank you everyone! I would like to put subtitle on this video. Hopefully someday I will make it happens. Again thank you all for nice comments.

  • @handybit - Please do! This is one instance where hearing people are impaired! We need subtitles to understand! ;-)

  • @handybit I love this video.. I am hard of hearing and it's been many years since I was able to communicate with someone who's deaf. I understand about 70% and it's interesting ! Thanks for sharing!

  • i see a almost sing but was cooooooolllllllllllllllllllll!

  • this is cute video. Your girls cute and excellent signers. I loved the story... Natural is the way to go!

  • Great shooting, editing, and acting altogether! This is a powerful message that everyone should view!

  • This is a BEAUTIFUL video! I have always felt this way! i am an only hearing child in a deaf family and signing is my 1st language, and thank god it was! Keep it up! you are natural, normal, and beautiful!

  • im learning sign language and really liked this video , i actually understood 95% of it yay (:, also it was creative. i loved the beginning.

    asl is so wonderful (:

  • Ah! you are no better! Ttotal of deafness in wife and my family tree are 26 in counts

  • AWESOME!!!! I LOVE THAT!! *faves!* Make more awesome signs especially how the attitude is at the end with background going in speed of light :)

you all gotta feed me that kind of inspiration! :) I'm pretty dull / blah on my signs compared to others because I was picked on by deaf people for the way I signed so I toned down :/ However I was told that I have cute small hands. That's all I have gotten in the positive feedback area.

  • My husband and I say BRAVO! It's true blessing to have signs!!!

  • very nice vlog thank for upload this ... i like it very much

  • FIST KISS!!! Best 5-Star Vlog to represent us deaf people why it's OUR language that we are very comfortable with. We need no friggin' C.I.s or any oppression to learn to how to speak. Thanks for creating this excellent vlog. I am gonna be sharing your vlog with others. WayToGo! Michael ~

  • Wow!! this capture my attention very well!!! YOU sure did great job..

  • agrees! Hearing are allowed to learn foreign languages, be it spanish, italian, french etc but when it comes to sign language we DESERVE to be recognized like any other language in the hearing world too.

  • LOVED IT!!!

  • handybit, I just want to say that your video is awesome. Very strong message! I grew up just like your kids (being told that signing is so wrong) I am so sorry you have to deal with nasty comments!

  • handybit, I just want to say that your video is awesome. Very strong message! I grew up just like your kids (being told that signing is so wrong) I am so sorry you have to deal with nasty comments!

  • Great Vlog, its very important for example, I am proud of deaf kids had great expressions.. touch my heart! :}

  • Wow!!! I am so fanastic with many facial expression, body language, NO cochlear implants!!! Natural life to lead you to see the beauty of earth!!! I love my deaf life!!!

  • Handybit, I did not say that hearings are better than your daughter... Please reread real carefully... How many factories were out of business or moved to other countries? Now hearing speak to computer and not using fingers to get MS works going on... Think about what kind of job your in future daughters will work? Only better or great job will open to anyone with college degree.

  • Ridor9th, you twisted my saying real good .Reread again... you just added "never"to satisfy your ego... Right now 60% of deaf are on "charity" as SSI and welfare. Look around, will you? What happen to ITU, USPS, auto factories, and manfacturings? In computer age, user do not need fingers to type, just speak to get MS works typed. So more chance future deafs work as floor sweeper or farm laborer or assembler unless deaf get degree from higher school.

  • @silentone15 Once again, you claim that 60% of deaf people are on SSI, welfare et al. I say: PROVE IT. Provide the statistical figures first.

What you did is a common ingredient of stereotypical views. All jobs are evolving as time passes, it takes a challenge for many to stay competitive 24/7/365.

Bill Gates already said that the keyboard WILL remain for ever mainly because you cannot do anything without keyboard. So your imagination runs wild about people talking to computers.

    R-

  • @ridor9th I got info from my 2 CODA daughters who work for state, as ADA investigatorat DFEH anotherone as interpreter at DoJ. I saw new technique at Silcion Valley conference. Hey Ridor, Will you please crawl out of closed or sheltered society!

  • @silentone15 CODA?! And you think they are RELIABLE?! Oh, please. You just confirmed what I thought of yourself -- DELUSIONAL.

    R-

  • Is there any way to have this translated?? it is wonderful.. hearing people need to hear what you are trying to convey..

  • Let's look at this way.. do all hearing children will eventually have jobs?? They are no different than the deaf children... all depends on each person and what talent one has to get a job...

  • Oh wow my body spread feel like going tear up my eyes all you doing good show this video clip oh yes God made the way deaf or hearing remember be strong block from cochlear implant because it is very dangerous for health also want to say thank you for you add this that show people what we are. : ) Tks

  • "Fist~Kiss"

  • Sign is wonderful but you forget about what will happen to future deaf who seek out for jobs. Can they compete with hearings? Will they live off charity or welfare or SS

( will SS be there for them?)

  • are you trying to tell me that hearing kids are having a better chance than my girls? Nah, I doubt. They will do great. Someday they will be hearings' boss just like their dad. :)

  • @handybit Pray that you reread again... I did not say that hearing kids have better chance than your girls... you just need to look around. Many factories and business are gone. That meant more competitives in finding good jobs unless your girls get college degree better than hearings.. One example... it take voice to type MSworks instead of fingers clicking on keys...

  • @handybit , your kids are going to be just fine... why? they OBVIOUSLY have great parents to support them, I watched your video recently and I wish i had that encouragement when I was an kid, all my life, i was "asked" to take speech therapy, that helped with me talking verbally but never could hear speech. I became behind socially and depression. Learning ASL is an part of my new "therapy" to catch up on the social life. Be proud of yourself that you have strong minded kids. High Five.

  • @silentone15 Where do you get the idea that Deaf people will never get jobs? Some Deaf people will get jobs, some deaf people won't.

You're generalizing people. Look at welfare, people said that too many African-Americans has welfare but statistics said that 70% of welfare money goes to WHITES!!!

    R-

  • @silentone15 Why?

  • @silentone15 i mean to say "why is that?" Also, why do you think ASL only people are more likely to be on SSI? You do know there are plenty of oral-only deaf who are on it too, don't you. (or both combine). And is it really fair for those who can't go Cochlear implant route (yes, there are people who have medical problem that disqualify them from implant) and uses ASL to communicate to be discriminated?

  • @FirefliesButterflies Oh boy! you decided without read carefully... I did not use "ASL"

I said that all deaf, no matter how much loss of hearing even ex-hearing. Dig it!

  • @silentone15 I was responding to how you think Sign wonder, but compare to hearing people, it is not good enough. I think it is discriminating.

  • @silentone15 I couldn't imagine a more ignorant response.

  • @silentone15 The only reason hearing people have an "advantage" is because they refuse to learn how to effectively communicate with Deaf people. In fact, it is hearing people who are handicapped. Deaf people generally have to jump through a million more flaming hoops than we do to open communication. We expect them to learn & use a language they can never experience (hear; try learning ANY language without ever hearing it), while those of us with vision & hands won't learn to sign?

  • I love it!!!!!

  • POWER ASL...

  • Great video! I like it! Wish it is a full open captions (not just a few) that I can share with my hearing friends. :)

  • @handybit just want to thank you for that video! Its funny u use tape on their hands. it made me cry. i remember in kindergarten my teacher threat me with tape on my hands if i dont stop signing. I am hearing but my family is deaf so signing is my 1st language. I LOVE IT!!!! please world, dont take my language ande culture away. I might be hearing but my heart is DEAF!

  • Beautiful!!! Bravo!!!!!! 10 stars? Naw, 20 stars!!!! Have it subtitled so I can upload it on my Facebook to reach hearing people if you grant the permission. Again, bravo!!!!
