@wes6ify No, we do know that, because he was never convicted (or even charged) of anything. You can't go around calling people criminals because they were accused of something.
by the way, the raiders always sucked. My only regret in life is mr cheap shot artist jack tatum never played rb and had to face the steel curtain....they made a cripple out of earl campbell of the oilers, they would have put tatum in a body bag...
swan #88 Stallworth #82 how the cowboys must have hated them, # 68 LC Greenwood was a big game pass rusher, wish there was more defense on here but still cool to see the offense and franco go..
What is even more amazing, is that Pittsburgh was in a league with many other great teams at the time such as Miami, Oakland, Dallas, Kansas City, and they still kept winning it all.
They were loaded, and were good everywhere from their management to the guys who took the tickets.
No one did it better than the Pittsburgh Steelers!
to bad you dont see football like this anymore in the nfl hard nose football thats what its about not scoring hard nose football they changed so many rules
My point was there was the same group of 22 players who won four titles; the Packers, to their credit restocked (eg-at RB).
GB won 5 in 7 years--('61, 62, '65 66, '67). but the first three where when the AFL or the other half of the NFL existed. So through no fault of their own, they didn't get a chance to play against all the best competition. Packers missed the playoffs two years running; Steelers went 8 straight years. Browns COMPETED for the title six times in six years
If there had been a Super Bowl in '61,'62 & 65 , they all would have been BLOW-OUTS in favor of Green Bay. The AFL was aweful until '68. The Pack played some awesome teams in the '60s .Unitas & Co. were AWESOME throughout the '60s along with Jim Brown, Paul Warefield and the Browns. Not to mention Big 'D' in the "Ice Bowl", also Y.A. Tittle and the N.Y. Giants...not TOO shabby! '70s Steelers benefited from the WFL snatching Csonka, Kiick & Warefield from the Dynastic Dolphins.
Well, I guess none of us will convince you that the Steelers were one of the greatest teams of all time.
BTW, in the '74 playoffs the Dolphins WITH Csonka, Warfield etc LOST to the Raiders that ended their dynasty. The '74 Steelers WON at Oak. the next week by 11.
I never said the Steelers were'nt one of the greatest teams of all-time...they definately were. My point was that it is false to claim they were the only team to win FOUR TITLES in SIX YEARS. BTW, Pitt. was the #3 seeded team in the '74 playoffs and should have played at Miami in the First round. Oakland and Miami had the best records in the AFC. Hall of Fame Miami Safety Dick Anderson was injured (ankle) early in the 1st qt. This opened up the secondary for Stabler.
Again good points. '74 was the last year before home field.
But they still are the only team to win 4 SBS in 6 years.
RE that Oak-Miami game.. John Madden's comment that "the two best teams had played..." ticked off a usual stoic Chuck Noll and he gave a speech which those Steeler players credit with starting their great run--NOT the Immaculate Reception.
1970s Pittsburgh Steelers, according to NFL Films, 1981 Documentary, 1989 Dream Bowl I,
1991 Dream Bowl II and 1999 Millenium Bowl and 1999 SI Dynansties edition, the best team in NFL history.
8 straight playoff appearances, 7 division titles, 6 division titles in a row, 4 Super Bowl Championships in six seasons and winners of Back to Back Super Bowls twice, 74,75, 78,79.
22 players with all four rings.
9 players, 4 Defense, 6 offense, and the Head coach in the Hall of Fame
I think GB's '65 NFL Title is the same achie- ment as their '66 & '67 Super Bowl Blow-Outs over K.C. and Oak. In 1965 the Packers would have played the Bills for a Super Bowl title. What's the difference whether they played it or not? Everyone knows Packers would have THREE Straight Super Bowls. I'm not saying they could beat the '70s Steeler teams(that's ridiculous) I'm just comparing achievements.
The screen name fits you well you idiot, your a biohazard all right, to the rest of us out here who are intelligent to know what real football is all about. Must be another Cryboys fans or even worse the do nothing Browns. Sounds like jeolousy to me. STEELERS KICK ASS!!

Best part about these '70s Steelers?
Bradshaw called ALL his own plays and still won 4 SB's on it.
Let's see where that bagpuss Brady would be if he had to call all his own plays (and no, audibles don't count).
That and Steel Curtain defense hitting so hard chances are it's illegal in 10 developing countries.
HERE WE GO!!!

Right on Hines, Don't forget they are the only team in the SB era to win back to back titles twice, and they did that in a 6 year period.
5 SB wins, tied for 1st
Playoff appearnaces 23, tied for first since the merger.
6 AFC titles, tied for first.
Under Cowher the winningest team for his 15 years.

And SIX of them went in on the first ballot. No team has more than four TEAMMATES who went in on the first ballot.
..Only team to repeat in the Super Bowl...twice.
13-2 playoff record (no team has won that many playoff games in that short a period (six years).

Oakland was gassed after their 2 pt. miracle
and thought they had already won the Super
Bowl.
'76 Steelers would have defeated '76 Raiders
if Franco and Rocky had not been side-lined
with injuries for the AFC Championship Game.
Injuries & loss of star players do make a
difference.
DRbiohazard 3 years ago
I don't claim they are the only team to win four titles in 6 years.
I have always been clear by saying the are the only team to win 4 Super Bowls in 6 years.
Or the only team to win 4 titles in 6 years since the Merger.

You can't compare Old NFL titles to SBs becasue of the full playoff system.
Pitt has the best SB run,4 in 6, back to back twice
SB winners play at least 3 post season games.
Old NFL Champs played 1.
GB did win the 1st 2 SBs so they played the SB game and the NFL title in 66/67 and twice had a tie breaker playoff game.
Still, Pitt had to play 12 post season games just to win 4 SBs and GB only played in 9 to win 5 titles.
The NFL separates SBs from Old Titles with their SB books and records.

It does'nt matter how many playoff games they
played; when you're champion, that's what
counts.
DRbiohazard 3 years ago
My point about the playoff games is that it made it more difficult to be champion and therefore those titles are held in higher regard.
That's why you don't see books and websites containing all the stats from every NFL title game ever, but you see them starting with the Super Bowl.
Even on the promtors during the SB they flash SB records, they don't flash all time NFL title game stats.
HinesXL 3 years ago
I just don't think there was any difference
between winning a Super Bowl in 1966 and
winning the NFL Championship in 1965.
Green Bay gets credit for the TWO SB wins for
'66 and '67, but '65 does'nt mean as much?
I can understand teams from '20s-mid-'50s
not being comparable to Super Bowl era, but
Three of Lomabardi's Five Titles were only
1, 4 and 5 years from the Super Bowl era.
DRbiohazard 3 years ago
Being Champ prior to the SB meant you were champ of a lesser amount of teams.
The AFL Cahmp of 65 was the Bills and many believe that had that Defense of Buffalo's met and aging GB they could have won.
The AFL was known mostly for the O but the Bills were they exception with a great O and dominating D.
Also, some don't even give GB the same credit for their two SBs because they were before the Merger.
Many refer to Modern NFL as post Merger, at least Miami got it under the wire lol.
