@DeathPrank0 "Mars" and "Marth" are both correct translations of his Japanese name. "Mars" was the actual intended name in the beginning, but over time, it was replaced with "Marth" in official material, presumably out of preference.

I really hate Shiida's voice in this. She squeaks when she laughs. This is proof that Japanese voices can be sub-par as well as English voices.

Although I think the main reason people watch Japanese versions instead of the english version is that most dubed Anime are heavily edited. (at least dialogue-wise)

So most people just watch the japanese version, regardless of how good the english VAs are.

But that fault lies with the editors and writers, not the voice actors themselves.

I love Hikaru Midorikawa's voice. This was the first time he ever voiced Marth, you know. He still voices him to this day.

That doesn't mean I hate Spike Spencer for voicing Marth in the English version of the OVA. It's not his fault that he didn't fit the character. He was just miscast, possibly due to the fact that FE had yet to reach western shores at this point.

I hate Shiida's voice in both versions.

Most English actors sound incredibly unnatural. Their tone and nuances of speech are very poor, they put stresses in very odd places that makes it very difficult to listen to for long periods. Rarely do I see good English voice acting at all.

As a matter of fact, in some parts of Japan where I've been (Okinawa, Kumajima, Zamami, Tokashiki), it is considered very intimate for a boy to go into a girl's room, while the opposite is not so. It's a bit like an unwritten rule. You probably won't see many boys walking into girl's rooms in anime series because of this cultural etiquette.

The reson why the call Marth "Mars" is because the people in charge of produceing the english version misstranslated and tought it ment mars in japanese, whean Marth is a real name. So thats why the english subtiles and voices call him "Mars"

p.s. The person who plays Marth/aka: Mars is the same person who played him in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Actually... Mars (or Marusu) is how it's written in Japanese and you can't write "Marth" in Japanese, Mars sounds like Marth though, so it could go either way.

If you look at the character's name during a battle in the Japanese SSB Brawl you'll see that it's name is romanized (written in "English" letters) and it's Marth, not Mars.

So it's not a misstranslation, Marth is his real name and it sounds just like Marth and almost everyone used no write his name as Mars before SSBM, but it's Marth.

This was the official translation until they decided to change it in SSBM. All most all the Fire Emblem characters come from Mythology, hence mars. I have not seen any mythical characters called marth.
