In the first seconds after his intro he gets the birth of Christ wrong in the location. He grew up in nazareth but was born in bethlehem. Also a lot of the biblical stories were based about real historical events at the time. Such as Noah and the flood. Almost every ancient culture has a flood story which is probably due to the rising seas of glaciers melting then receding. The things that happened to Moses coincided with the eruption of santorini. The authors of the old testament are not the a
@sk8r4lyf6969 "a lot of the biblical stories were based about real historical events at the time. Such as Noah and the flood."
How can it be historical when everyone was dead? Who's left to record the flood and where did they get tablets from when everything is underwater? That's the funniest thing I've read in a while thanks. Made my morning.
@JeremiahCrow The cliff didn't disappear. Even if the landscape might have slightly change we can get perspectives from many writings. I already cited here a detailed perspective from early the last century when the German Archaeological society was excavating Meggido. It gave very detailed descriptions of cliffs and hills. Randi is overstating and appealing to ignorance.
@MayonR Okay, so put aside the idea that Randi is wrong about everything here (which he may or may not be). It all simply goes back to a faith issue. I could care less if Nazareth is exactly as it is in the bible. I could care less if Jesus was a real man who walked the earth. Anything you tell me about it simply doesn't matter because there is no way to prove Jesus was divine. So really, who cares? Lots of prophets running around those days... even before Jesus' alleged birth.
@JeremiahCrow [[It all simply goes back to a faith issue.]] You probably have a false idea of what faith is.If you look at the etymology, faith is akin to certainty and veracity. If I had faith my girlfriend would make a good wife, I made that deduction after i met her, not before. Faith has a prior track record to go by. It is not some kind of arbitrary faith.
@MayonR The difference is that you do in fact have a prior track record for thinking your girlfriend would be a good wife. You have absolutely no idea if Jesus even existed. If I showed you a 2,000 year old, anonymously written manuscript which contained stories of virgin births and various other miraculous events and presented it as fact with absolutely no other evidence, you'd hardly take me seriously.
@JeremiahCrow [[You have absolutely no idea if Jesus even existed.]] There is mountains of evidence for Jesus. The Biblical testimonies count as historically credible. and there is also extra biblical evidence. [[contained stories of virgin births and various other miraculous events ...you'd hardly take me seriously]] The miracles such as the virgin birth were prophesied before the actual event.Further the only way to corroborate a miracle is through the legal historical method.
"Hinted in the Bible" Are you serious? He dogmatically stated!!! When you use the phrase, "GOD SAID", you are prophesying. Camping said over & over that the Word of God says or points to a specific date. Camping is a false prophet. He has led thousands of people astray. He is a false teacher also & he is now admitting it. From what I hear he can no longer teach at family radio. I don't know if that is true, but I heard that statement. He is certainly a false prophet.
I wonder how many Christians dare even click on videos like this; and I wonder how many Christians ever actually question the bible? Personally, that answer is 0% based on Christians I personally know (100+ family alone) anyone know of any?
@gr8vibes2 I am a Christian and yes, I agree mny "christians"dont question, I do. I have and that is why I trust it. I read it, and when I have a question of archology I have a Dr friend who has studied biblical archeology for 40 years. he knows 7 ancient languages and so on his scores of degrees. but if I have a different question I go to the people who have the education and I do question their education. I read the bible, have questions and seek answers.
@2Corinthians10five cool 1 in 1,000000000 hey it's a start; as george carlin says, question everything .. in your case, keep questioning scripture, especially in the nt; good luck
@gr8vibes2 [[I wonder how many Christians dare even click on videos like this; and I wonder how many Christians ever actually question the bible? ]] Every single one of Randi's points here are debunked. He does great against psychics and astrologers but he hardly touches the Bible truths. Most have noticed how terrible of a job he did here.
@gr8vibes2 [[I doubt too many FACTS ever get debunked]] The problem is that Randi gets so much wrong here, it has nothing to do with facts. Right off he blunders because nowhere does it say in the Bible Jesus was born in Nazareth. I actually went through each of the specific points in these comments. These claims are very easy to debunk. Pose any point you would like. Even little things like calling the Biblical archaeological society which is not religious group, he gets wrong.
@MayonR That's a clever way to try and weasel out of the precision of what Randi is saying. Does the bible say Jesus was born in Nazareth? No..not literally..but supposed "Christian scholars" sure do! And the bible claimed it was Jesus' hometown and that, by law, he was forced to relocate there early in his life. And they've been saying it since the 4th century in a feverish attempt to somehow ret-con Jesus' origins to fit the myth better.
@SoCalledSpaceAge [[Does the bible say Jesus was born in Nazareth? No..not literally..but supposed "Christian scholars" sure do!]] What? Christians source the Biblical account to ascertain the birthplace of Jesus. The Bible says He was born in Bethlehem not Nazareth. Randi said his contention was one of the Biblical accounts which are never questioned. He is either right or wrong and since this claim is not found in the Bible, he is wrong,
@MayonR Glad you gave ONE example IF you are are right, but that's just it, how do you "KNOW" you are right and Randi is wrong? Also let's say Randi was wrong 99% of the time. This leaves 1% accuracy and since EVERYTHING Randi speaks of goes against scripture, that 1% alone debunks scripture. That's all that's needed. One fact can decloak the myth and trump Christian ignorance/lies. Truth is ubiquitous (universal).
@gr8vibes2 The problem is that he didn't get any points right. The major contention was that Nazareth didn't exist at the time of Jesus. If you look at a few comments a go I listed how it is outdated since indeed artifacts were discovered from the time of Jesus. I actually went through all the points. Give me the point Randi is right about that will decloak Christianity as you say. It's survived all scrutiny and stood strong to this point.
@MayonR [[how do you "KNOW" you are right and Randi is wrong?]] Because I am not using my opinion on the matter. All you have to do is look in the bible. Matthew and Luke are the only birth accounts and they both say He was born in Bethlehem. I can give you a detailed geography of Nazareth and furthermore present day Nazareth does have hills. I can give you a detailed perspective of Nazareth from Mount Moreh.
@MayonR Forget randi altogether if you like, afterall randi does get a lot of things wrong. Let's talk man to man using logic. If Jesus existed performing astonishing, mind-blowing miracles, think about it, no one would dare kill him. Next he'd draw thousands of eye witnesses including artists. Everyone would know where his birthmarks were let alone be unsure of hair and eye color and yet what do we find, not a shred of a picture of artists from around the world, blond Jesus' with blue eyes CONT
@gr8vibes2 depictions all over the place, and drum roll no one is sure when he was born WHEN FRIGGEN MAGI were onsight to record the birth. These guys were skilled with the timing of events and births. That was their sole mission in life! The dude was made up. Get over it.
@gr8vibes2 We do know within 4 years of when He was born. And clarify the magi point since they weren't historians but used their knowledge for their own purposes.[[The dude was made up.]] Quick way to lose credibility since, although this might be common perception it is not a scholarly deduction. Say the story was a legend. You would find mountains of contradictions with all the external evidence coupled with all the claims. Instead we find harmonization with the events recorded.
@MayonR So you just blow by astrologers who base everything around time as idiots because they weren't historians? And what's your excuse for historians for having dropped the biggest ball in his-story? Dude do you ever think? for yourself? THINK! The dude was super human, everyone today flocks to see a urine stain on a tree thinking it's an image of some holy figure. Everyone and their dog would know what underwear Jesus wore ffs. THINK!
@gr8vibes2 [[you just blow by astrologers who base everything around time ]] Give me the source of the Magi's recording the birth of Christ and it contradicting the Gospel account. Again most who would record irrelevant details such as His appearance were likely His enemies which would not be likely to memorialize Him."He has no stately form or majesty that we should look upon Him, nor appearance that we should be attracted to Him." (Isaiah 53:2)
@MayonR You think a guy who performs miracles at whim would have enemies? Again put some (Fore)thought into your non-thinking. And quoting mere words from a book that I've been beating down with logic isn't lending you further credence.
@gr8vibes2 [[and by descending into biblical dribble, you've forfeited]] And here you descend into ad hominems which have no weight on truth value. That is why your appeal to emotion are baseless. They are just arbitrary reasoning with no ground point. I see that a few are conceding Randi's point. That's why I even commented here so I would say i was successful in my endeavor.
@MayonR [[and by descending into biblical dribble,]] Did you even read the verse? It points out exactly how details such as appearance were irrelevant. Do you see how closed minded you are? You completely blew off the Bible verse because you have a bias against it from the onset. You completely ignored the relevant point it was making in our very discussion. Therefore it is not the evidence leading away or illogicality of Christianity but a deeply rooted resentment. You need Jesus.
@gr8vibes2 [[You think a guy who performs miracles at whim would have enemies?]] He didn't perform the miracles to gain notoriety. Just to demonstrate His deity. In fact He told His disciples not to reveal His true person hood.[[been beating down with logic]] Appealing to emotion is not logic my friend.
@MayonR He didn't perform the miracles to gain notoriety.
Wt? So that makes Jesus miracles that much more unbe"lie"vable? Get some logic happening. That's just your problem .. as I keep telling you to put down the books and think. No appeal to emotion; but to just to think, logically. Maybe you need more time before you can think. Again scripture doesn't answer anything. It's your faith that it can, but faith is internal and cannot convince through repeating scripture, emphasis on repeating.
@gr8vibes2 [[Forget randi altogether if you like, ]]You keep making red herrings. I already debunked all of Randi's points here. I respect his work but he is no historic scholar. [[If Jesus existed performing astonishing, mind-blowing miracles, think about it, no one would dare kill him. ]] This is just appeal to emotion so it doesn't prove or disprove anything. You have to deal with the evidence.
@gr8vibes2 [[not a shred of a picture of artists from around the world, blond Jesus]] The Bible writers rarely touch on someones appearance, unless there is some sort of relevance. Such as how Esau is described as hairy. in fact his name meant hairy. Yet we don't know if Samson was an ordinary looking joe or if he had muscles and veins popping even out of his eyes since the Bible doesn't describe this. And He wasn't likely to be memorialized by His enemies.
I do. Believe me. I'm healthy skeptic. I read stuff from their original sources, and determine if it's trustworthy.
Google Origen's "Against Celsus, book 1." Read ch 28. Origen is answering Celsus' slander against Jesus, which Celsus is getting from Jews. Read about how Celsus is saying the Jews talking about Jesus' miracles being sorcery.
I have contacted the James Randi Foundation over the egregious error James Randi made in claiming that the Bible says that Jesus was born in Nazareth. As you may know, the Bible makes no such claim; rather stating that he was born in Bethlehem.
If anyone cares, the Foundation didn't think it necessary to respond and correct this error OR pull down this mistaken video. I actually think they should leave it up as it just goes to prove the kind of poor scholarship some will stoop to.
@PVEnsemble Yes, pretty much every claim made in this video is fallacious. I actually addressed every claim he made in earlier comments. And the statements that say there is no Nazareth archaeology from the time of Jesus is also outdated information since there is findings that prove it did exist.
James has renounced truth, in that he practices Creator-forbidden homosexuality, and openly says so. He of course wants no part of the Bible, knowing full well it forbids his personal choices of sexual perversion. So, he reads biased, distorted views about the Bible, and not the Bible. Makes sense?
"Nazareth...the town where the Bible has Jesus Christ being born." I'm sure someone else has pointed this out, but just in case. I'll add this: The Bible doesn't state that Jesus was born in Nazareth. Rather, it states he was born in Bethlehem. You're normally so on top things, Randi, I'm actually surprised you missed this obvious fact. It makes little sense to disprove a claim the Bible never makes.
Don't waste your time debating a Christian.I don't, for the same reason I don't debate someone who thinks the Moon is made of cheese. It's like trying to stop a dog that's humping your leg. It's funny at first but the more you try to push it off the harder it humps. In the end the dog runs off and licks it's own ass and you got the dogs Jizz on you. Moral is- don't wrestle a pig cuz you'll get covered in shit and the pig is still a pig.
@paramattic70 [[Don't waste your time debating a Christian.I don't,]] Well if this video is indication then it is because a knowledgeable, rational Christian can debunk these historical criticisms. Every claim Randi makes in this video is severely debunked. I could probably provide sources for most all the specific claims. So if you were to debate these facts the sources providing proof would be all that matters. This would be a lost debate for Randi at the onset.
@trident3b I'm not going to stoop to your level and belittle anyone's beliefs, including yours. Your ridicule does not change my belief in God, nor does the fact that the Bible is not a factual scientific or historical textbook.
@histrav oh come on, grow up. Of course you're entitled to your belief which I would rather refer to as faith, since faith is blind belief less any evidence. You'll be familiar with that argument. I actually don't have a belief until something is convincingly proved to me. Everyone to his own.
@trident3b There you go again belittling others, telling me to "grow up." I can't prove God scientifically to you. All I can say is that I believe because I choose to believe (not per any proof), and because of my own spiritual experience that I cannot convey to you. Call it what you want, because like I said, I'm not going to belittle your beliefs. (And yes, I call your assertions beliefs.). I agree with you in your statement, "Everyone to his own", or "To each his own" as I would say.
@digger629 I'd argue that the only prophecies your "true" religion has gotten right are the ones that are so vague and nonspecific that they don't actually require any supernatural prescience. Of course there is war and apostasy and famine and disease: there is literally no period in global history without those things.
I could give you enough prophecies to sink a ship & you would still say, "don't confuse me with the facts."
You are anti-Christ & anti-truth. No amount of proof will change your mind. You are just like the people who actually saw Jesus do miracles & still rejected Him.
You do not want to come to Him because your heart is evil. Only a fool would reject the FREE gift of Salvation. You still have the chance. After you die it is too late. Think about it.
@digger629 Only a fool believes the superstition of primitive people who lived before the joyous growth and prosperity of science cast darkness into light. My only lament is that there will be nothing to tell you that you were wrong when you die.
@mechanixis [[I'd argue that the only prophecies your "true" religion has gotten right are the ones that are so vague and nonspecific ]] The prophecies of Tyre were specific in hindsight since we can see the real data. The prophecies of Jesus were also specific. In fact I have read Isa 53 to people who all say it was Jesus. They are shocked to know it is in the Old testament since they usually will guess the New testament. It's more specific than you are implying.
@jadecadence Except he made that promise AFTER he was resurrected. Jesus' second coming was going to be the end of the world, and if my facts are right, that hasn't happened yet.
You said. "Jesus' second coming was going to be the end of the world," The word world should have been translated AGE. The world will never end according to Scripture.
Jesus promised he would return both before his death & after his resurrection, yes, but he said certain events had to happen before He did.
You also said, no evidence Jesus was resurrected. Over 500 people testified they saw Jesus alive. All that was necessary was to produce His dead body. NOBODY COULD!
@digger629 What about that thing Jesus said, what was that? Hmmm ... oh yeah! That whole thing where he promised his Apostles that he would return within their lifetime? Did that happen? NO! That proves your religion is false, right? That wasn't even from other prophets, that was from Jesus himself. Seems like Jesus is a terrible procrastinator. He can walk on water, but he's terrible at meeting deadlines.
You nay-sayers make Jesus Words false by leaving important portions out. For example: Jesus said that the generation that saw certain signs would not pass away, just like you quoted He said. Some of those signs were: Matt 24:29 the sun to be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light". That has not happened yet. So it is not a false prophecy. The generation that sees "ALL" those signs happen is the one Jesus was referring to.. Not just some.
Nazareth: the largest city in the North District of Israel. Nazareth is known as "the Arab capital of Israel"; the population is made up predominantly of Arab citizens of Israel.
In the New Testament, the city is described as the childhood home of Jesus, and as such is a center of Christian pilgrimage, with many shrines commemorating biblical events.
Nazareth ( /ˈnæzərəθ/; Hebrew: נָצְרַת, Natzrat or Natzeret; Arabic: الناصرة al-Nāṣira or al-Naseriyye) is the largest city in the North District of Israel. Nazareth is known as "the Arab capital of Israel"; the population is made up predominantly of Arab citizens of Israel.[2][3][4] In the New Testament, the city is described as the childhood home of Jesus, and as such is a center of Christian pilgrimage, with many shrines commemorating biblical events.
After you leave this earth in death which may be today, when you stand in front of God to be judged for your sins & not believing His Word, ask Him to take you back in time & show you just exactly where Nazareth was. The Bible has proven Itself to be 100% accurate on every other subject, & it mentions Nazareth 29 times by various different people, just because you or others can't find it or know where it was located does in no way mean it did not exist.
@digger629 The key phrase in that sentence is "what I believe". Sorry ... I personally don't give a shit about what superstitious mythological bullshit you happen to believe without any logical reason. Demonstrate that any of that bullshit is remotely true, then you might have an argument. Until then, you're no different than people talking about bigfoot, the Loch Ness monster, the illuminati, or any other sort of unfounded bullshit.
I accept your challenge. I will demonstrate my belief that the Bible gives me more proof to believe in God than your belief in no-God.
There are 100s of prophecies (predictions) in the Bible written 100s & 1000s of years in advance that most of them have been fulfilled to a T. The ones that have not been fulfilled yet are happening in our very day. (see Mat.24, Luke 13 & 17 & 21)
Reading those chapters is like reading the morning newspaper.
@digger629 Seeing as you just gave the chapters and not the verses, please list some of these so called prophecies for me. And also please tell me why you disregard the prophecies of every other religion, Islam in particular, whom it's followers have just as many "prophecies" that they point to in saying that Mohammad is the prophet of God.
You are mistaken when you think that any other religions other than Christianity have ever made a true prophecy. They have not. Christianity is of God & therefore true. Other religions are of the devil & therefore false.
God knows all including the future & therefore can predict it accurately.
The devil is a created being & therefore does not know all or the future.
I have many false prophecies of other religions proving their source.
People believe in the Bible because, let's face it, Jesus was quite a wise dude. His message of love and forgiveness rings true for people. Many folks refuse to consider that the Bible might be largely bullshit, because it feels like they would be rejecting Jesus. The way out of this mess is to seperate Jesus' message from the religion/Bible. Seems crazy perhaps, but not to me. jesus is awesome, but The Bible (in total) sucks! Lol
@howedelamitri The four gospels make up a small portion of the Bible. Maybe less than one tenth. And the information in them of Jesus actual sayings would fill but a few pages. The rest of the New Testament is people trying to figure it all out and spread the message. And the Old Testament, comprising the majority of the Bible, is a blood bath. So there is very little Jesus in the Bible!
Also check out the gnostic gospels, such as Thomas and Mary.
That I honestly do not know. What can clarify some things would be Isaiah 40: 4-5 "Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken." to me..what came to be..came to be to prove this prophesy. I honestly don't know geologically but I do know God made it so for a reason.
@DelightfulTyrant Religion is about only 12,000 years old and whoever "gave" humanity religion, science, math, reading, writing, the "Gods" that the ancient civilizations all over the world talk about, is what part of the major part of religious stories come from. I've been researching religion, religious history, etc... for over 7 years now. I can tell you , you are right. Unless you can decipher what the text says 12k years ago, no one knows shit, but its not totally mistranslated.
Randi is relevant only to baby boomers that read the same 25 cent pseudo-scientific book club paperbacks of the 60's. Too bad Bill Bryson doesn't webcast... until then, *yawn* back to tube surfing
Pick a point, any point. Randi failed at virtually all the points he made.Usually very good at debunks but Christianity is a very different animals than he has tackled.
@MayonR This video concentrated on the fact that the current village of nazareth did not exist at the time of jesus. This means that jesus did not live there.IF the events of the bible actually happened, they happened somewhere else. There was no hill for him to escape from, no synagogue, and the house of mary could not have been there, as there are tombs right under it.
@dangerouslytalented [[This video concentrated on the fact that the current village of nazareth did not exist at the time of jesus. ]] Actually there has been proof of it's existence during Jesus discovered in the 50's by Bellarmino Bagatti which the unqualified Salm criticized. In 2009 Yardena Alexandre discovered a 1st century settlement exactly where Salm said there wasn't one. So Randi is using severely outdated information.
@dangerouslytalented In fairness on that specific point is that he made the video in 2009 the year it was discovered. But Randi does make very outlandish points throughout. I noticed him stating deceitful points and half truths. One of these misleading statements is that he groups the religious community with a secular archaeological society. If I say I am an expert in Biblical scholar, I could be secular or theist.
@MayonR Lets say that the house in nazareth was part of a "small hamlet of no more than 50", as the study (released around christmas for maximum publicity) implies. The discovery still does NOT (a) prove jesus existed (b) prove that he lived there (c) prove that it was anything more than one house or (c) even show that, at the time, the village was even called Nazareth. One house was all that was found. Near tombs (and it's forbidden to have tombs inside the town).
@dangerouslytalented a. b. and c.are irrelevant to the contention. You don't have to prove that He lived there since the testimony stands on it's own merit. So you would have to disprove that He lived there. As for the second (c) We know it has been called Nazareth since it is mentioned by name as far as 400 or 700 b.c. but I believe the latter is the accurate. And Nazareth was very insignificant and was not a large settlement as the Bible even implied it's insignificance.
@MayonR How on earth does the testimony stand on its own merit? All the relevent text (from the bible) was written at least 30 to 100 years after he died, which leaves a LOT of time for word of mouth and exaggerated legends to multiply, and for those building those legends to work old testament prophecy into the stories about him, a census (which never happened at the times mentioned in the bible) taking him to Bethlehem, for example.
@dangerouslytalented [[stand on its own merit?]] It stands on the merit of the witness. 30 years after is well within the lifetime of eye witnesses who could refute inconsistent statements. And legends take longer time to develop built upon former versions. Any eye witnesses could still have refuted it if so. In Luke 2:1 Greek scholars have said "prote" can be translated prior as in a prior census to correlate with the 7 year intervals.
@dangerouslytalented Dictionary of New Testament Background [Craig Evans and Stanley Porter, eds., InterVarsity, 2000] states: "Evidence indicates that Egyptian censuses were taken at 7-year intervals during the reign of Augustus and can be established with indirect and direct evidence for the years of 11-10 B.C., 4-3 B.C., A.D. 4 and 5, and A.D. 11 and 12."
@MayonR Except that the different books of the bible say that the census was during the reigns of two different officials,Quirinius and Herod, whose reigns do not overlap. Furthermore, the census in question was in Syria (the province Jesus lived in) not in Egypt.Furthermore, the massacre of all children under the age of 2 would have been written down somewhere, being a huge atrocity, and not even in Josephus is it mentioned.
@dangerouslytalented [[ensus was during the reigns of two different officials,Quirinius and Herod,]] The word "proto" that I provided before would indicate it was prior to the cenus of Quirinius. Quirinius would do these censuses under Augustus who also reigned in Egypt during this time. Josephus wrote with a Jewish slant so he might not be inclined to write an account hinting at divine protection of Jesus. And furthermore it was recorded. In the Bible.
@MayonR Josephus writing with a jewish slant would make him MORE likely to mention the massacre of all Jewish children between the ages of 0 and 2, not LESS.
@dangerouslytalented [[Josephus writing with a jewish slant would make him MORE likely to mention the massacre of all Jewish children between the ages of 0 and 2, not LESS.]] If you want to hold to that, it is still not proof against. It's a simple concept, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. When an event is not included in any given document, it proves nothing. Thats why most of Randi's argument is not an issue though we may entertain them.
@dangerouslytalented >>After the Jewish war with the Romans from AD 66-70 it was necessary to re-settle Jewish priests and their families. Such groups would only settle in unmixed towns, that is towns without Gentile inhabitants. According to an inscription discovered in 1962 in Caesarea Maritima the priests of the order of Elkalir made their home in Nazareth. (cont)
@dangerouslytalented >>This, by the way, is the sole known reference to Nazareth in antiquity, apart from written Christian sources...Some scholars had even believed that Nazareth was a fictitious invention of the early Christians; the inscription from Caesarea Maritima proves otherwise."

Jesus was born in Bethlehem, moved to a "town" called Nazareth. Where in Mathew 2:23, "through the prophets he will be called a Nazarene". Nazareth from the root word netser which means, "root" or "sprout". So in a sense, being a nazarene would mean metaphorically that he is the "root". Romans 11:6 where it states that "If the part of the dough offered as firstfruits is holy, then the whole batch is holy; if the root is holy, so are the branches." We are the branches he is the holy root.
@SushiRollinUp2eat Where John 14:6 "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." With the death of Christ, we...as humans see the significant sacrifice of our Lord for us..thus we must sacrifice ourselves for him. We must LOVE him. If we love him, we obey him, thus we will go against sin and not live in sin. Where in Ezekiel 17:22-24 (all the towns, bethlehem, nazareth..ect..are all in Israel fyi) God planted this "tree" so that it..
@SushiRollinUp2eat will bare fruit. In a sense WE..the gentiles..the "LOST" are the fruit and Jesus is our Holy tree/root, foundation. In the old testament YES Jesus is prophesied as a nazarene, for he IS the root, the foundation where God sent us. John 15:2 "Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and
every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring
forth more fruit." We can say we believe, but if we do nothing to change ourselves he will take away.
@SushiRollinUp2eat For James Randi to only look at the "what is there" or "not there" aspect and to completely miss the connection of the Old testament and New testament is very ignorant of him. God wrote the bible to show, explain, test, and confuse. He does this for a reason. For he speaks in parables so that seeing they do not perceive, and hearing they do not listen, nor do they understand.
James Randi is awesome !! I met him a while ago and he's an amazing man, with great stories and wisdom to share. @SushiRollinUp2eat ; god did not write the bible. To believe that with so much evidence to the contrary is very ignorant of you.
@tenatopps But who's words are they? Its like this..Martin Luther King's bibliography wasn't written by Martin Luther King himself was it?..no..someone researched, interviewed and spent time into understanding him. Same as all the books within the bible. And back to Randi's augments about the temples..hills..ect. remember that when Jesus died a large earth quake happened. Well..connect earth quake..with buildings..hills..ect..and what do you find? Yep..
@SushiRollinUp2eat You find rubble, geologic fissures, the remnants of destroyed hills, etc. Watch the video again, he says specifically that there was no place where a hill might have been. None. Earthquakes leave evidence. As, I might add, do global floods.
@GmanNetworks To me personally..I don't know..it'll be more helpful if Randi would state where he got his geological evidence where there was no "hill" for the past 100k years..that's a bit far fetched cause geologically the northern part of Israel where Nazareth is located is around "northern hill" region. Geologically its pretty bumpy there. I honestly don't know where Randi is stating his geological fact from..that's all.
@SushiRollinUp2eat They were the words of a bunch of different men thinking they were inspired by their god. And no, I do not remember the earthquake that happened when Jesus died. I was not alive then. But an earthquake wouldn't cause all of that stuff to disappear; there would be a lot of evidence where it happened, if it actually did happen. More likely, none of that occurred and the Jesus story is alll myth.
@tenatopps Lol, I asked it as a rhetorical question...when Jesus died in Jerusalem there was a massive earth quake that happened and was felt around the whole continent. As the part of the bible being written by many DIFFERENT people..YET, all the books connects. If you'll take some actual time to understand the bible then you'll understand the CHARACTER of God never changes...does it? no. Like my previous post down below, it takes effort to know God.
@SushiRollinUp2eat I know it was meant to be rhetorical, but I seriously mistrust that story. I don't see how the bible connects with all it's contradictions, I guess I read it as a skeptic and you read it as a believer, so we'd have different viewpoints. I used to be a Christian and felt that I "knew god", but since I've grown up, matured, read some more holy books from different religions and all, I think it's total bullshit. To each his own, right ?
@tenatopps I can see it completely from your view as well LOL. I wasn't a believer, honestly I've scolded God and hated him. Like you..I've had my doubts and was hard for me to even WANT to know God, but God worked in my life somehow...John 6:44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them, and I will raise them up at the last day." My brother, I'll pray for you. John 3:16...remember that at least...maybe someday you'll give God another chance. God Bless.
@SushiRollinUp2eat Aw that's ok, no need to pray for me, but thanks for the sentiment I suppose (: Really I don't hate your god, any more than I hate Zeus or Horus, because I don't believe in any gods, and I haven't seen any evidence to support a belief in any of them. IF there was evidence I probably would, but from where I stand there's none. Nice talking to you (:
@SushiRollinUp2eat The point of the video is that the "holy places" are not, in fact, places where he even lived, and church dogma says he lived there.
@dangerouslytalented Umm let me correct you...its plural..its only one place..and that is Nazareth where he was raised..and "church dogma" didn't state where Jesus lived..his apostle did..the churches only decided where what town was named what..and where it was located. You still have to take this into account, the jews didn't believe Jesus was the son of God..why would they make up a town? Even Jesus' own brother James didn't believe, until Jesus rouse up from the dead.
@SushiRollinUp2eat If it was not church dogma, then they would not be having literal turf wars at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and other so called holy sites. These people DO believe that THESE were the ACTUAL places that jesus was born, preached to the rabbis and died.THIS is what this particular video was addressing,if we were going to get into all the other ways church dogma is incorrect,we would be here forever.
@dangerouslytalented That I honestly do not know.
@dangerouslytalented Well I already stated it..Isaiah 40: 4-5 "Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken."
It is amusing to read people's reactive comments. If only others that do not endorse religious gobbledygook had reacted with even a fraction of anger, I wonder what might have happened to the mythologies and their endorsers. There is little excuse nowadays, for people to reject evidence contrary to the mythologies they were raised to believe as fact!
Santa long ago laid off all his elves, in favor of outsourcing. He uses dirty factories and sweat shops like everyone else. In other cases he brokers deals with companies to get stuff at bulk for cheap. :P
@JamesRandi Cursed be the hypocrites that rebuild a town in Jesus Name for filty lucre sake. Jesus own words to doubting Thomas should be enough for the true believer in Christ. John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, "Thomas , because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed, Blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed". Peace2Ya
A wish- Why can't we have a James Randi type in a muslim-dominated country? I would love to see the youtube videos of his soap-box stands and debates against the muslim clergy.......Oh, that's right....he would be killed swiftly. Ok then, bad idea. Just a thought....how many "muslim" James Randis would we be hearing from now, had they not been killed? Or withhold their thoughts for that reason?......hmmmm
I consider myself a Christian, and the people Randi are mentioning are clearly heretics and sheer profit makers. I'm also going to take a "leap of faith" and say said heretics have not actually read the first four books of the New Testament, the "Gospels". Jesus, according to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, was born in Bethlehem and allegedly fled to Egypt until Herod "The Great" died.
GUYS GUYS!! James Randi is Santa Look White beard, red shirt owh come on its so obvious he is just misleading us with these video but in truth he just made a big mistake :)
im a christian but i dont believe all the thing the people teach now because they are money hungry and they make things up that would benefit them i only believe the things that could be proven in the bible not the things that people make up like the purgatory. purgatory was made up so that they could raise money for the church the bible dosnt mention purgatory at all
Harry Houdini, who led the greatest campaign against spiritualists, was a believer in the God of Abraham and Isaac- he also kept an open mind that there maybe a true psychic, though he debunked all that he came across. If the grandmaster of illusion could believe, why not Randi?
The ending left me confused. I'd expect Randi to question the Bible, but his reasoning says in order to question the Bible we should believe hoaxers who claim some random place is Nazareth (which evidence shows it's not). Then he winked. What's up with that.
Just incase some die-hard Randi fan gets offended, I suppose rethoric isn't his strong point (where as good showmanship is)
the exact site of beit lahm is located north of palestine a small village called beit lahm of galil which at that time was part of south lebanon now .archeologist and lebanese priests investigations.even kana galil where jesus performed his 1st miracle was in the north of galil where jews used to live at that time next to the cannaanite phoenicians where the palestine tribes lived in the lower palestine. history was rewritten for tourism and business benefit of jerusalem and the jews.
SANTA CLAUS IS REAL!!! He placed presents under my Christmas tree. How could they just appear there overnight when everyone in my house was sleeping. Moronic fucking people.
I think that Bible is a folklore book as any other, like stories that families had told to the next generation. I just have to wonder why so many believe in it. Maybe people needed some guidance in life yes, but they could've stayed believing in their nature gods and spirits.
@Kazuite6 For that one, you have to understand the history of christianity. In the name of christianity, people stole conquered and destroyed, not least to mention plagiarizing other religions. People cling to religion out of ignorance. They don't know anything better. That doesn't mean that there won't be brilliant minded people who are believers, there have been many,it just means that that when people give education a chance, they'll be more likely to be more skeptical of religion.
The fact that no archaeological evidence can corroborate St. Luke's descriptions of a "hill" in the bible means nothing, since Luke was writing late in the 1st century in Greece, far away from Nazareth. And why does Randi continuously appeal to motive in order to dismiss opposing claims? The fact that some people are profiting in Nazareth is irrelevant. In every video this guy manipulates his audience with shrewd wit and sarcasm, giving the impression that he is always right. Bombastic clod.
@kickmeout1 Why exactly am I a nutjob? You're quick to read into my comment, even though I said nothing about my own personal beliefs. You have nothing intelligent to say, so you have to attack me? You are clearly a moron.
@dannytibi lolol im training to become a comedian! no sense of humor my ass, what im saying is people need to stop making god out to look like a human guy with a big white beard and white cloak sitting on a throne listening to people praying, and thats arrogance to say he looks human, if hes even real he could look like anything, i understand what your saying tho lol
@tokesalot42069 It's not arrogance if it's a joke, which is obviously what it was. So to clarify again, I don't actually think James Randi looks like God. =P
Isn't it all too obvious? God made the synagogue, the cliff and everything else disappear to... test our faith?
JeremiahCrow 1 week ago
@JeremiahCrow The cliff didn't disappear. Even if the landscape might have slightly change we can get perspectives from many writings. I already cited here a detailed perspective from early the last century when the German Archaeological society was excavating Meggido. It gave very detailed descriptions of cliffs and hills. Randi is overstating and appealing to ignorance.
MayonR 4 days ago
@MayonR Okay, so put aside the idea that Randi is wrong about everything here (which he may or may not be). It all simply goes back to a faith issue. I could care less if Nazareth is exactly as it is in the bible. I could care less if Jesus was a real man who walked the earth. Anything you tell me about it simply doesn't matter because there is no way to prove Jesus was divine. So really, who cares? Lots of prophets running around those days... even before Jesus' alleged birth.
JeremiahCrow 1 day ago
@JeremiahCrow [[It all simply goes back to a faith issue.]] You probably have a false idea of what faith is.If you look at the etymology, faith is akin to certainty and veracity. If I had faith my girlfriend would make a good wife, I made that deduction after i met her, not before. Faith has a prior track record to go by. It is not some kind of arbitrary faith.
MayonR 1 day ago
@MayonR The difference is that you do in fact have a prior track record for thinking your girlfriend would be a good wife. You have absolutely no idea if Jesus even existed. If I showed you a 2,000 year old, anonymously written manuscript which contained stories of virgin births and various other miraculous events and presented it as fact with absolutely no other evidence, you'd hardly take me seriously.
JeremiahCrow 1 day ago
@JeremiahCrow [[You have absolutely no idea if Jesus even existed.]] There is mountains of evidence for Jesus. The Biblical testimonies count as historically credible. and there is also extra biblical evidence. [[contained stories of virgin births and various other miraculous events ...you'd hardly take me seriously]] The miracles such as the virgin birth were prophesied before the actual event.Further the only way to corroborate a miracle is through the legal historical method.

He is a false teacher also & he is now admitting it. From what I hear he can no longer teach at family radio. I don't know if that is true, but I heard that statement. He is certainly a false prophet.

MayonR 4 days ago
@MayonR I doubt too many FACTS ever get debunked, only conclusions and lies can; if he lied then let us know about it, don't just blanket statement
gr8vibes2 4 days ago
@gr8vibes2 [[I doubt too many FACTS ever get debunked]] The problem is that Randi gets so much wrong here, it has nothing to do with facts. Right off he blunders because nowhere does it say in the Bible Jesus was born in Nazareth. I actually went through each of the specific points in these comments. These claims are very easy to debunk. Pose any point you would like. Even little things like calling the Biblical archaeological society which is not religious group, he gets wrong.
MayonR 4 days ago
@MayonR That's a clever way to try and weasel out of the precision of what Randi is saying. Does the bible say Jesus was born in Nazareth? No..not literally..but supposed "Christian scholars" sure do! And the bible claimed it was Jesus' hometown and that, by law, he was forced to relocate there early in his life. And they've been saying it since the 4th century in a feverish attempt to somehow ret-con Jesus' origins to fit the myth better.
SoCalledSpaceAge 4 days ago
@SoCalledSpaceAge [[Does the bible say Jesus was born in Nazareth? No..not literally..but supposed "Christian scholars" sure do!]] What? Christians source the Biblical account to ascertain the birthplace of Jesus. The Bible says He was born in Bethlehem not Nazareth. Randi said his contention was one of the Biblical accounts which are never questioned. He is either right or wrong and since this claim is not found in the Bible, he is wrong,
MayonR 4 days ago
@MayonR Glad you gave ONE example IF you are are right, but that's just it, how do you "KNOW" you are right and Randi is wrong? Also let's say Randi was wrong 99% of the time. This leaves 1% accuracy and since EVERYTHING Randi speaks of goes against scripture, that 1% alone debunks scripture. That's all that's needed. One fact can decloak the myth and trump Christian ignorance/lies. Truth is ubiquitous (universal).
gr8vibes2 3 days ago
@gr8vibes2 The problem is that he didn't get any points right. The major contention was that Nazareth didn't exist at the time of Jesus. If you look at a few comments a go I listed how it is outdated since indeed artifacts were discovered from the time of Jesus. I actually went through all the points. Give me the point Randi is right about that will decloak Christianity as you say. It's survived all scrutiny and stood strong to this point.
MayonR 3 days ago
@MayonR [[how do you "KNOW" you are right and Randi is wrong?]] Because I am not using my opinion on the matter. All you have to do is look in the bible. Matthew and Luke are the only birth accounts and they both say He was born in Bethlehem. I can give you a detailed geography of Nazareth and furthermore present day Nazareth does have hills. I can give you a detailed perspective of Nazareth from Mount Moreh.

Friends,
I have contacted the James Randi Foundation over the egregious error James Randi made in claiming that the Bible says that Jesus was born in Nazareth.
PVEnsemble 1 week ago
@PVEnsemble Yes, pretty much every claim made in this video is fallacious. I actually addressed every claim he made in earlier comments. And the statements that say there is no Nazareth archaeology from the time of Jesus is also outdated information since there is findings that prove it did exist.
MayonR 1 week ago
James has renounced truth, in that he practices Creator-forbidden homosexuality, and openly says so. He of course wants no part of the Bible, knowing full well it forbids his personal choices of sexual perversion. So, he reads biased, distorted views about the Bible, and not the Bible. Makes sense?

@auroraman56
NOBODY COULD!
digger629 1 week ago
@jadecadence And there's no evidence that Jesus was resurrected as well, so that kind of shoots some holes in your bullshit fairy tales.
auroraman56 1 week ago
@digger629 What about that thing Jesus said, what was that? Hmmm ... oh yeah! That whole thing where he promised his Apostles that he would return within their lifetime? Did that happen? NO! That proves your religion is false, right? That wasn't even from other prophets, that was from Jesus himself. Seems like Jesus is a terrible procrastinator. He can walk on water, but he's terrible at meeting deadlines.
auroraman56 2 weeks ago
@auroraman56

Hey Jim
After you leave this earth in death which may be today, when you stand in front of God to be judged for your sins & not believing His Word, ask Him to take you back in time & show you just exactly where Nazareth was. The Bible has proven Itself to be 100% accurate on every other subject, & it mentions Nazareth 29 times by various different people, just because you or others can't find it or know where it was located does in no way mean it did not exist.

No human can do that.

@digger629 Seeing as you just gave the chapters and not the verses, please list some of these so called prophecies for me. @auroraman56
Harold Camping is one of them.

Lol
howedelamitri 2 weeks ago
@howedelamitri The four gospels make up a small portion of the Bible. Maybe less than one tenth. And the information in them of Jesus actual sayings would fill but a few pages. The rest of the New Testament is people trying to figure it all out and spread the message. And the Old Testament, comprising the majority of the Bible, is a blood bath. So there is very little Jesus in the Bible!
Also check out the gnostic gospels, such as Thomas and Mary.

@MayonR This video concentrated on the fact that the current village of nazareth did not exist at the time of jesus. This means that jesus did not live there.IF the events of the bible actually happened, they happened somewhere else. There was no hill for him to escape from, no synagogue, and the house of mary could not have been there, as there are tombs right under it.
dangerouslytalented 3 weeks ago
@dangerouslytalented [[This video concentrated on the fact that the current village of nazareth did not exist at the time of jesus. ]] Actually there has been proof of it's existence during Jesus discovered in the 50's by Bellarmino Bagatti which the unqualified Salm criticized. In 2009 Yardena Alexandre discovered a 1st century settlement exactly where Salm said there wasn't one. So Randi is using severely outdated information.
MayonR 1 week ago
@dangerouslytalented In fairness on that specific point is that he made the video in 2009 the year it was discovered. But Randi does make very outlandish points throughout. I noticed him stating deceitful points and half truths. One of these misleading statements is that he groups the religious community with a secular archaeological society. If I say I am an expert in Biblical scholar, I could be secular or theist.
MayonR 1 week ago
@MayonR Lets say that the house in nazareth was part of a "small hamlet of no more than 50", as the study (released around christmas for maximum publicity) implies. The discovery still does NOT (a) prove jesus existed (b) prove that he lived there (c) prove that it was anything more than one house or (c) even show that, at the time, the village was even called Nazareth. One house was all that was found. Near tombs (and it's forbidden to have tombs inside the town).
dangerouslytalented 1 week ago
@dangerouslytalented a. b. and c.are irrelevant to the contention. You don't have to prove that He lived there since the testimony stands on it's own merit. So you would have to disprove that He lived there. As for the second (c) We know it has been called Nazareth since it is mentioned by name as far as 400 or 700 b.c. but I believe the latter is the accurate. And Nazareth was very insignificant and was not a large settlement as the Bible even implied it's insignificance.
MayonR 1 week ago
@MayonR How on earth does the testimony stand on its own merit? All the relevent text (from the bible) was written at least 30 to 100 years after he died, which leaves a LOT of time for word of mouth and exaggerated legends to multiply, and for those building those legends to work old testament prophecy into the stories about him, a census (which never happened at the times mentioned in the bible) taking him to Bethlehem, for example.
dangerouslytalented 1 week ago
@dangerouslytalented [[stand on its own merit?]] It stands on the merit of the witness. 30 years after is well within the lifetime of eye witnesses who could refute inconsistent statements. And legends take longer time to develop built upon former versions. Any eye witnesses could still have refuted it if so. In Luke 2:1 Greek scholars have said "prote" can be translated prior as in a prior census to correlate with the 7 year intervals.
MayonR 1 week ago
@dangerouslytalented Dictionary of New Testament Background [Craig Evans and Stanley Porter, eds., InterVarsity, 2000] states: "Evidence indicates that Egyptian censuses were taken at 7-year intervals during the reign of Augustus and can be established with indirect and direct evidence for the years of 11-10 B.C., 4-3 B.C., A.D. 4 and 5, and A.D. 11 and 12."
MayonR 1 week ago
@MayonR Except that the different books of the bible say that the census was during the reigns of two different officials,Quirinius and Herod, whose reigns do not overlap. Furthermore, the census in question was in Syria (the province Jesus lived in) not in Egypt.Furthermore, the massacre of all children under the age of 2 would have been written down somewhere, being a huge atrocity, and not even in Josephus is it mentioned.
dangerouslytalented 1 week ago
@dangerouslytalented [[ensus was during the reigns of two different officials,Quirinius and Herod,]] The word "proto" that I provided before would indicate it was prior to the cenus of Quirinius. Quirinius would do these censuses under Augustus who also reigned in Egypt during this time. Josephus wrote with a Jewish slant so he might not be inclined to write an account hinting at divine protection of Jesus. And furthermore it was recorded. In the Bible.
MayonR 1 week ago

Where in Ezekiel 17:22-24 (all the towns, bethlehem, nazareth..ect..are all in Israel fyi) God planted this "tree" so that it..

every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring
forth more fruit." We can say we believe, but if we do nothing to change ourselves he will take away.

Yep..
SushiRollinUp2eat 4 weeks ago
@SushiRollinUp2eat You find rubble, geologic fissures, the remnants of destroyed hills, etc. Watch the video again, he says specifically that there was no place where a hill might have been. None. Earthquakes leave evidence. As, I might add, do global floods.
GmanNetworks 3 weeks ago
@GmanNetworks To me personally..I don't know..it'll be more helpful if Randi would state where he got his geological evidence where there was no "hill" for the past 100k years..that's a bit far fetched cause geologically the northern part of Israel where Nazareth is located is around "northern hill" region. Geologically its pretty bumpy there. I honestly don't know where Randi is stating his geological fact from..that's all.
SushiRollinUp2eat 3 weeks ago
@SushiRollinUp2eat They were the words of a bunch of different men thinking they were inspired by their god. And no, I do not remember the earthquake that happened when Jesus died. I was not alive then. But an earthquake wouldn't cause all of that stuff to disappear; there would be a lot of evidence where it happened, if it actually did happen. More likely, none of that occurred and the Jesus story is alll myth.
tenatopps 3 weeks ago
@tenatopps Lol, I asked it as a rhetorical question...when Jesus died in Jerusalem there was a massive earth quake that happened and was felt around the whole continent. As the part of the bible being written by many DIFFERENT people..YET, all the books connects. SushiRollinUp2eat 3 weeks ago
@SushiRollinUp2eat I know it was meant to be rhetorical, but I seriously mistrust that story.

BIBLE JUST A BOOK. what to Questioning ?????????
MentalCANCERsurvivor 1 month ago

@dannytibi lolol im training to become a comedian! no sense of humor my ass, what im saying is people need to stop making god out to look like a human guy with a big white beard and white cloak sitting on a throne listening to people praying, and thats arrogance to say he looks human, if hes even real he could look like anything, i understand what your saying tho lol
tokesalot42069 1 month ago
@tokesalot42069 It's not arrogance if it's a joke, which is obviously what it was. So to clarify again, I don't actually think James Randi looks like God. =P
