Usually when a musky gets close to the boat it'll take off again scared. This is when the unsuspecting amature will lose the fish. Fight the fish until it is too tired to fight. If you're gonna release it no need to even net it just get it's head out of the water until it calms down and grab the treble or the hook with your pliers, twist and shake a little and the fish will be released safely without ever touching it. If you must get a picture carefully slide your hand under it's bottom jaw flap

Net is way too small. Put the camera down and net properly. Your doing disservice to your fishing partner. Also keep the net out of the water until you actually move to net it.
