We have three basses in our orchestra: one bass guitar ('chitarra basso'; 6 strings) , one bass (four strings) and a 'contrabbasso a plettro' (four strings, played standing). We are the only orchestra in Switzerland performing this instrument and it is a gift from Maestro Bruno Amaducci, conductor. Unfortunately we do not have any records of the instrument such as maker, year of construction. and so on. The strings were remade especially for it.

This is a very effective piece making use of the sonority of the mandola and the deep sound of the mandoloncello.
The chitaronne moderno is perfectly heard and it deepens out the sound of the guitar..
