  • This woman was related to my grandma on my dad's side. It's fun to hear someone I'm related to that I never met. She's really great!!

  • Another of Hempel's rarely heard Edison disks, giving a wonderful reproduction of her extraordinary voice. She was a supreme lyric singer.

And what a pleasure to hear the lovely tone and legato of America's great violinist, Albert Spalding (of the same family that makes the famous baseballs!) A treasurable memento of two great artists.

  • @AulicExclusiva The best coloratura sopranos, such as Hempel, have a solid and warm middle register and are great lyrical singers. Thanks for sending, Aulic, and thanks to mabuo for posting!

  • What I hear is violin solo with a soprano obligato!

  • Absolutely stunning. If only the performers on the operatic stage would realize that it is not how 'loud' they sing but that 'artistry' can only be acquired with extensive vocalizzi. NO ONE can do this today.

  • you are so right.

  • Appreciated. It is always satisfying to find a knowledgeable fellow traveler.
