I hate it when people call Borderlands Cel Shaded, because it isn't. Cel Shading (Yes, only one L) means having no gradient shadings. Borderlands did have gradient shadings and lightings, if you want to know what Cel Shading looks like, take a look at LOZ: Wind Waker. Borderlands is just cartoony graphics and outlined models. Looks pretty cool nonetheless, just wanted to make that clear.
This trailer is a million times more serious than the game itself. I wish the trailer captured the comedic side of this game... When I actually played it, I was surprised and disappointed for a sec. Not because of the game, it was great. But because it was completely different than what I was prepared to play. Its like having your mouth "ready" for a great steak, and getting a great pizza instead.

@TubePirate1001 if you have friends that play it and you like shooters definitely but if you go in alone its still a fun a game but it doesn't feel like you are getting the "full experience" there also some light RPG elements because you level up and such
look look look ok we get that cell shaded has unique qualities and then we have what every other game has... but todays gamers have been stuck in hd land for awhile and that is why borderlands is shunned for its difference. so had they kept with todays interest i believe the game would of been a bigger hit than what it is now. i do in fact have the game and logged in more than 100 hours but i feel that my 64 has better graphics than this game. just sayin

Guns, just about infinite, and despite the poor graphics, it adds the the overall epicness of this game... theres sumtin satisfying about shooting sum1 in the head and their entire body goes "pop" and bits and peices go flying a 100 meters straight up

@ShITYouWannaKNO I don't think the actual game is cell shaded. It is just the textures are made to look like they are hand drawn. I think cell shading is when you turn the shaders down on 3D models making the shading turn from gradiants of colour into block flat coloured shapes. Which makes the shading on a persons face or environment look as if it was inked in. This game does not have that but it is close to the same effect which is that flat comic book look!
The trailer right here was great. I would've taken it either way. As long as the weapons and gameplay stayed the same. I modded a Siren on there that was nothing short of fuckin' unbelievable. I still have guns people would kill untold amounts of foes for too. My screenname on here is actually the same as it is on xbox live. Really dissapointed with current one even it is well-received. I'm in favor of dark- themed like this than the real version.. too bad waiting for this kind of borderland for 2 years until they scrapped it..
This game was planned to be so much more badass than it is now...I would have loved to see randomized terrain, equipment, clothing/armor, guns...everything would have been randomly generated except for major cities/towns...but they switched directors and he dumbed it down to guns and equipment only and made it cell shaded....
That's the proof that they could made this game with insane graphics. It will just suck alot. Not because it's too realistic it's good ( not always ). I don't like CoD 6 even if it's the game with best graphics ( until Halo Reach comes out ).

@MasterCoin007 I'm unable to find any servers within the game itself, but I use GameRanger and there are always at least 30 games running. Most of them are private, though ; and take note that you won't be able to join some games if you don't have the add-ons. But you can always usually find one that allows you to join.
the scene with the "vault", the slap glowing yellow, seems like it was showing their prototype verions of the siren, soldier, and merdecci. mybe they later deicided on a new siren class model, and made their current general steele, and the soldier just improved upon.
yes, borderlands had a sci fi look until 11 hours after the game was realesed to the public and the xbox 360. but gearbox and 2K were smart and didnt want it to be like mass effect or bethesdas fallout three or the upcoming fallout new vegas (OMG!) so they did something called an eleventh hour change, and comepleteley changed the look of the game and the opinion of the public. some liked it some didnt. its your opinion i sure as hell liked it. (they might make a new game in fall,but for now,no.)

this artwork is sooo cliche, the final end result is far more original. And give Gearbox a break, its the first of its kind. I am more than willing to bet that Borderlands 2 will blow the first one out of the water. This is only the beginning...
@Tarasepp guns ARE the backbones of this game. I'm, myself, a story driven gamer too. Even though the story isn't engaging and quite disappointing, the guns made it up for it, somehow.
people found in the game some echo that have never been used in the final game, aand these echo we're part of the story line and was giving it a bit of what was missing.

Great game. But this trailer is a bit misleading. graphics for one thing, and also the feeling of the game. The feeling that's emited from this trailer is more of a, screwed-up-planet feeling, when the game gives off a, plain-out-fucked-up-planet-that-I-wouldn't-leave-an-ant-on feling. Well, the Graphics change in Borderlands was a relatively late decision, and this was a trailer preceding that decision. One thing I wish is that we could have got both games when we got Borderlands. A plot-heavy, more mature game, and the loose loot-em-up we ended up with. It would have been yet another awesome replayability incentive.
@coin409 At first Gearbox was working towards a normal art style game.... But probably found out by Cell shading the game it would give it more market appeal.... by being different to other FPS's.
if ur making your decision based on this trailer... ur gonna get the wrong idea about graphics... i'd recommend to watch the 2nd trailer and make ur decision based on that...
There's always a reason; they don't do it and not know why. If a company can build hype around a game, they will have better chances finding a publisher if they get dropped, or if they haven't found one to begin with. If more people are excited, their budget might go up. This is one of the best ways to do that.
the game have tons of story in it.. but we havent heard about it.. only the vault which we still didnt get to see the inside off. and Pandora is a big planet which probley have more secret to unlock. this game is 112% kickass.

@MasterCoin007 I'm unable to find any servers within the game itself, but I use GameRanger and there are always at least 30 games running. Most of them are private, though ; and take note that you won't be able to join some games if you don't have the add-ons. But you can always usually find one that allows you to join.

the scene with the "vault", the slap glowing yellow, seems like it was showing their prototype verions of the siren, soldier, and merdecci. mybe they later deicided on a new siren class model, and made their current general steele, and the soldier just improved upon.

yes, borderlands had a sci fi look until 11 hours after the game was realesed to the public and the xbox 360. but gearbox and 2K were smart and didnt want it to be like mass effect or bethesdas fallout three or the upcoming fallout new vegas (OMG!) so they did something called an eleventh hour change, and comepleteley changed the look of the game and the opinion of the public. some liked it some didnt. its your opinion i sure as hell liked it. (they might make a new game in fall,but for now,no.)

Yea, Borderlands now is amazing some people think why would yuo want cartoon graphics? Well i couldnt imagine this game without them. Normal graphics woulddnt fit this game, humor and style. It is an awesome game 5/5 and i dont NOT think why will be realeasing another, the DLC they have out is prob making enough money, if they do make another you bet your ass ill get it

people found in the game some echo that have never been used in the final game, aand these echo we're part of the story line and was giving it a bit of what was missing.

Great game. But this trailer is a bit misleading. graphics for one thing, and also the feeling of the game. The feeling that's emited from this trailer is more of a, screwed-up-planet feeling, when the game gives off a, plain-out-fucked-up-planet-that-I-wouldn't-leave-an-ant-on feling. The trailer makes it look less leniant in the way of waywardness(lol). MUY OPINION

Well, the Graphics change in Borderlands was a relatively late decision, and this was a trailer preceding that decision. One thing I wish is that we could have got both games when we got Borderlands. A plot-heavy, more mature game, and the loose loot-em-up we ended up with. It would have been yet another awesome replayability incentive.

There's always a reason; they don't do it and not know why. If a company can build hype around a game, they will have better chances finding a publisher if they get dropped, or if they haven't found one to begin with. If more people are excited, their budget might go up. This is one of the best ways to do that.

the game have tons of story in it.. but we havent heard about it.. only the vault which we still didnt get to see the inside off. and Pandora is a big planet which probley have more secret to unlock. this game is 112% kickass.
