  • Hickok45, show more videos about CZ rifles, please! Everyone who collect good hunting rifles knows this line of rifles. But unfortunatelly there are not to many videos about this weapon. Please make it happend!!!! What about CZ 550, whenever you have a chance check the bolt action of this model. Thank you and have a good day!!!

  • i have seen almost all of your videos. this is one of the best.

  • I'd love to see one with an AK mag modification. Those 10 round AK mags would look incredible on that.

  • is this bolts lika ak 47 bolts ?

  • he must smoke a lot of cigars to have all those boxs

  • @stoneflanakinwow you can buy those boxes

  • Hickok, have you ever fired the CZ-750 sniper rifle, it's a great rig in 7.62x51.

You'll be able to tear up some good targets long range.

  • i swear if you pause it at 4:20 it looks like the barrel engraving reads 29 instead of 39

  • @mklietsch21 It sure looked like a 2 to me.

  • where did you bought this gun?

  • Couldn't fine that rare lament wood. hahahahahaha...

  • @hickok45 Fricken awesome retort. With attitude like that sir, you are fastly becoming my favorite gun dude.

  • Can you load rounds directly from the top like a Mauser or Mosin? Or do you need to eject the mag each time?

  • Hi hickok45. Please test some handgun in 7,62 mm,penetration of this ammo, etc.

You tested many calibers, but I have not seen 7.62 mm.

For example serbian zastava M57 handgun. I heard that the penetration of this

    ammo better than 9 mm,even from 40 S&W,45 ACP.

Compare this caliber with a few other calibers.

Awesome caliber, developed for military.I expect your reply soon.

  • I have a CZ-527 in 7.62x39 and really enjoy shooting it. Really light handy rifle for deep brush hunting. Mounting Scopes is allot easier with the optional Pi-canny Rail. I mounted a Sightron 3x9 mildot Scope on it and use the factory sights that I with I could modify with a peep sight setup.

  • You don't shoot enough bolt guns.

  • very good mr hickok45 so glad you featured the CZ carbine m57 in 7.62x39 it added value and worth to me when you give good review about it because I chose this rifle for my teen daughter for her all around hunting target shooting etc. top quality and very accurate she shoots 3in clay tartgets at 200yards with high precision 4 out of 5 average with inexpensive surplus bulk ammo.. thanks for the great review

  • can it mount optics?

  • as a Czech I am proud to see how much are these guns liked all over the world, it's great gun, if you want better more accurate and sturdy version of AK47 check out vz. 58

  • @jakubjochec wish I could buy one of these ;). Cool rifle for sure.

  • i've been mulling over one of these for about a year. does anyone know if you can load a 7.62x39 with standard 308 bullets or do they have to be .310 in diameter??

  • @davery25 it depends on the rifle you have. I don't know if CZ USA uses a .308 barrel or not. Even if they don't you can still load .308 projectiles they just won't be as accurate. An easy way to check if .308s will be effective is to take a .308 bullet and place it on the muzzle of the barrel, if it doesn't disappear then it will use a standard .30 cal bullet. I did the same with my russian Mosin-Nagant and I enjoy superb accuracy with .308 bullets :)

  • gorgeous gun

  • That reminds me of the Winchester M70 compact classic i had in 7-08 except for the magazine. Winchester also uses the mauser type claw action and is a lot less than the $700 stated earlier. After putting the wood stock through hell i upgraded to a Remington 700 with a synthetic stock in .308 which was also under $600 from Cabelas. Much nicer.

  • Hey Hickok, when you're wearing the Impact earmuffs are you wearing earplugs underneath as well?

  • Ya know, after over two years of watching these vids, I can't recall ever seeing a bird, or opossum, or coon, or deer tracks anywhere on the compound. Just an occasional hound wandering obliviously about. I wonder why? Perhaps they're hanging out with the would be prowlers?

  • i like it , but a bit pricey tho

  • I believe all CZs with walnut stocks have are Turkish Walnut. At the very least all the rimfires are.

  • Would be a great partner to an AK-47.

  • I want one now

  • "Maybe someone makes one that holds 50 rounds...you can rest it on your big toe!" Hickok, your hilarious...

  • @hickok45 What brand ammunition are you using? Each round looks like a work of art, with the perfect copper jacket and the OD case.

  • @RealWoodsmen Looks like brown bear to me, cheap stuff like wolf ammo, steel cased and non-corrosive. I have lots of 7.62x39 I have 2 semi automatic rifles that fire it.

  • @DystruktoBoi1 Cool, thank you very much.

  • @ hickok45, you're a great teacher and a lot of fun. Thanks for this instructive and very enjoyable post.

  • I am semi new to the firearm world and wanting to start getting into hunting deer. I have heard alot of people using a .243 win.chambered rifle for this. Would this particular chamber (7.62x39 be overkill for hunting deer? This may be a stupid question but take it easy on me, I said I am a novice.

  • @AluminumAllPro

A .243 is a bit stronger than the 7.62x39. Either round will serve you well, but if you want a fun range gun, go with the 7.62x39. If you want to hunt, go with the .243, because it's goes about 50-100% faster. Another round you may consider is .308 win. It's tronger than the other two, but a bit more expensive. You can get affordable tulammo for all of these rounds for range fun.

  • @AluminumAllPro 7,62x39 is about perfect for adult deer. At muzzle standart loads have 1500+ lb/ft of energy. Sub-sonic loads have about same power as .45 acp, but can be sound suppressed much easier and have flatter trajectory.

Just keep it in mind, that this particular cartridge was never designed for marksmanship. It is shortened version of 7,62x54 meant for assault rifles. So dont expect wonders from it. 300 metres/320 yards should be your maximum.

  • Could it be that the bolt is a little loud?

  • white out with fix a sight like that.

  • i want this gun, but for $700 from CZ USA thats a bit of a leap

  • @OnlyInhuman666 Don't worry, soon enough the Zastava made mini-mausers in 7.62x39 5.56 and others will be coming into the country through KVAR! And heres the kicker...MSRP=350

  • @OnlyInhuman666 I have hunted and target shot with several models of cz, and they are a gem! Worth every buck, and if looked after, retain value.

  • @OnlyInhuman666 dealer cost is only 576 on these

  • if you had to choose between the 300 blackout and the 7.62 x 39 which one would you go with?

  • ever a misfire with surplus ammo? i bought a rossi break action in 7.62x39 then found out it not good for berdan primers. some work some dont. accurate gun though. maybe i sell it and buy a CZ.

  • can you do video abou cz samopal vzor 58.that would be good

  • @TheRomanbellic Its done.

  • after this video I am determined to get me one of these! Thank you Mr. Hickok :)

oh one question, Can you top load these also without taking out the magazine?

  • nice slippery looking bolt

  • l96! l96!

  • Mooi geweer

  • quick question hickok, do you fire with one eye open when you shoot or both? i watch your vids all the time, but have always wondered...:)

  • Ah, I forgot Australian Arms International in 7,62x39 ;)

    repeating rifle ! =D

  • No plastic at all. This is what i call a real gun. I own one - superbly accurate .

  • Isn't shooting at steel with a rifle dangerous?

  • @inkbot2000 is it?

  • Hickok45, are you going to do a chapter 2 on this gun? Im sure lots of us would really like to see it

  • i think single action hingein pre accurate

  • "Sort of like a Baby Scout Rifle"..Hickok you took the words right out of my mouth...... Hmmm.. Since the 6.5 Grendel is based off the 7.62x39 case i would buy one in a heartbeat if CZ chambered this in the Grendel.. The 762x39 is the commie version of our 30-30 and shares many of that cartridges attributes... Handloaded with 150gr softpoint 30 cal bullets this lightweight and compact little bolt gun would compete well with the Winchester M94 for its ideal balance of carryability and firepower.

  • wow, great video hickok! you are an inspiration to us all!

  • Can anyone tell me how fucking easy it is, to get like ANY weapon in America? O.o

  • @xXCREEKSTARXx It depends on the state. In some states the process is long and involved and a major pain in the ass. In others it's as easy as pie.

  • hi hickok, just woundering if this would be a very good ranch rifle of farm rifle, i was also considering the ruger mini 14 but for the price id rather have a nice bolt gun. ruger mini 14 is around 800 and the 527 in around 779. in canada of course! thanks!!

  • @snowsniper8 get a marlin levergun. or a m44 nagant and a boatload of ammo :P

  • wood and steel at its finest...favourite action...favourite cartridge. Lovelovelove

  • Hey hickok, i'm looking for a plinking gun for the range and i've decided on the 7.62x39 but i don't really want to spend $700+ on a CZ lol, do you know any other guns besides an AK for a cheaper price?

  • @PikaJew95 get an sks, should be cheaper

  • @PikaJew95 x2 on the sks. i just bought one and its great for playing with. not the most accurate rifle, but they generally do between 2.5 and 4 MOA (apparently)

  • @kylecallbeck1990 alright, thanks for the reply kyle, i'll have to look into one of those :)

  • @PikaJew95 The SKS is a great choice. Or a Ruger Mini-30. Not a lot of choices when it comes to 7.62x39 unfortunately.

  • @PikaJew95 The only one I can think of that is below the $600 mark is the SKS. Once you get into v58 (858 whatever) AK's and CZ 527 your talking bigger bucks.

  • CZ makes some fine weapons from what I know though I don't own any. I'm a throwback Remington 700 purist myself because they're made here, sold here and the money stays here. But that's just me. Fine little CZ gun there. It does have a wicked looking bit of muzzle flash which I believe is the result of that short barrel. Thanks for the upload, I pleasure to watch as always!

  • You'd like the Mosin M38 carbine if you like that stock just FYI. It does kick, if that's an issue the rubber butt pad makes a big difference. I haven't seen all of your videos yet so I could be preaching to the crowd, but if you havent shot one, don't write it off just because you had a field day with the 91/30.

  • what a great gun to learn with for those kids who are to old or big for a .22 and not quite ready for a full size rifle. kinda reminds me of ruger's 77/357.

  • that's a very good looking cz bolt action rifle, makes me want to buy one.

  • I have this rifle. What a wonderful gun! I had it properly bedded and put Leupold 2-8X scope on it. The mags are expensive. But is has a set trigger and is just a neat little gun!

  • @avalonmed11 how much do the mags cost?

  • @burnsboysaresoldiers

I ordered 2 extra from MidwayUSA. They run over $50 apiece

  • Ah Romeo Y Julieta, very nice cigars.

  • he has shot the 500

  • Do you shoot the rifle plate with steel cored ammo?

  • I love your style nice video and a very nice little rifle will have to pick one up thanks for the video.

  • do you know of any more bolt-action rifles like this? maybe a little cheaper haha

  • @Grizzy2011 Ruger makes a 7.62x39 bolt action

  • Very nice looking rifle! Thanks to your friend for the loan of the rifle so you could make this way cool video. The CZ sure looks like it would a lot of fun shoot. Great video

  • Does anyone know how much one of these will set you back?

  • nice rifle, just not for hunting, in my opinion. ive heard some horror stories about deer hunting with one of these. great target rifle though. not bad lookin' either

  • I have one in .223 and it's a very accurate gun with an excellent trigger. I mounted a Leupold Vari-X II 3-9X on mine. All blued steel and Walnut.

  • That would make an excellent deer rifle.

  • tht thing is beautiful, i need to get one

  • I bought one of these a year ago or so. They call it a mini-mauser in Europe. Other than heating up quickly, it is so accurate! It is a great medium sized hunting rifle. A lot of kick. Wood is top notch and the set trigger is less than a pound. Just touch it and it shoots. The best trigger I have shot including Accutrigger on my savage. If you are hunting at 200 yards or less, this is a great firearm About 600 dollars. You get top grade firearm.

  • What neat little rifle! I'd love to test drive one of these! Terrific video! Thanks for posting!

  • I would love to do what you do

  • I went looking for it after saw the video. A bit too pricy. six to seven hundred.

  • what year is that gun?

  • I wonder if any gun company will ever make new guns that fire the 7.62x54mmR and the 7.92x57mm Mauser

  • @Ratkill9000 the steyr manlicher "classic" is still made in 7.92x57mm Mauser :)

  • @Ratkill9000 the only thing i think of is the SVD and PSL IZH-18MH zastava m91 and more but some of those are not exactly modern

  • @Ratkill9000 Already happened : Mauser 03 Extreme in 7,92x57

    and Izhmash Record 7,62x54R

  • @Sportschuetze84 i meant modern day like Savage arms, Remington or some company like that.

  • @Ratkill9000 I really don't understand why gun companies don't make guns chambered for those cartridges. 7.92x57mm is a cool round if for nothing else but to feel what the Germans were shooting in WW2. A cheap bolt gun chambered in 7.62x54R would sell very well IMO because the ammo is cheap. Its not like you would be taking customers away from the more expensive guns because people who would buy these guns probably can't afford a $1,000 bolt gun anyway.

  • @J3rEmY17 I would rather see semi-auto rifle for those calibers that is not AK/Dragunov clone.

8x57 is quite common in hunting rifles.

  • @kibicz Yeah but I don't think gun manufacturers here in the U.S would do that seeing as how thats just two more cartridge they will have to produce and they won't be able to compete with the surplus ammo prices. But not making a cheap bolt action in these caliber is inexcusable.

  • @Ratkill9000 They should. Good round that anyone can afford? Hell yeah they should

  • @TheEvilX338 well 7.92x57mm isn't that cheap anymore. Hornady is one of a few companies that makes it and i think its near $35.00 a box of 20.

  • @Ratkill9000 I'm sure you can find one with a little smaller chamber, and rebore it. It might payback after a while lol

  • ★★★★★

    Cool Rifle.

  • CZ makes some of the finest bolt-action rifles for the dollar that I've ever owned. My only beef with their guns is that the bolt handle smacks the scope or drags along the ocular bell (maybe the wrong phrase) unless you use unnecessarily high rings.

  • Carbine Bolt-Action, like the Karbiner 98K but fed by a mag.

  • Great review of a fine rifle.... Thanks for posting it.

  • anyone know where i can buy one for a reasonable price in canada? i live in BC.

  • Hey Hickok on the newer CZ-527 Carbines, they have a covered front sight, did the one you are shooting come with a cover and can you take it off?

  • Add a fixed 4 power scope and some ballistic tips and that would be a nice deer getter

  • I own one of these and in my opinion this is the best beginers rifle out there. Even good for experienced shooter too. Cheap ammo, accurate as hell as all cz seem to be. I cannot say enough good things about this rifle in this chambering. Luger

  • 556x45...762x39 we need something in between. 9mm....45 not so!

  • And the A's move to Austin Tx. The Austin A's,,, I like the sound of that.

  • Also Asics made in the U.S

  • What's next... the 6.5 or 7mmx45 Werewolf of London? Would be interesting.

  • Didn't they rename the 545x39 the Genghis? Oh Brother!

  • I would like one in 6.5 G. Grendel....How stupid. I wish I had the money to buy those shortchangers out and make that cartridge mainstream. 527 20 inch barrel. Great setup.

  • I have this exact rifle and it's wonderful. Great video!

  • As always nice video sir.

  • i dont see the point in getting that gun in THAT caliber. why get a low capacity bolt action when you can have a high capacity semi-automatic that shoots the same ammo? its like getting a single action revolver in 9mm. im not being a jerkoff either, just saying

  • @908LuX973 Well besides probably being a fun gun to shoot and a good conversation piece its more accurate then your run of the mill semi-auto. Most semi-autos in 7.62x39mm arn't known for precision. Thoes would be my reasons for owning one, still don't think I would actually buy it though.

  • @908LuX973 For hunting, magazine capacity has to be legally limited anyway. Bolt actions are lighter than semi-autos, so it means less weight to carry while tramping through the woods. 7.62x39 is ballistically very similar to .30-30, which has taken a lot of deer over the years. If you're in a state that allows rifles, the 527 is a great little icebox filler.

  • @ernunnos oohh ok, that makes sense

  • I havent seen any zombies on your compound in any of your vids lately Hickock.

Do you reckon you killed them all?

  • Maybe I'm just noticing this, but I see you upgraded your hearing protection! I recently bought the same set at Cabela's and I absolutely love them. How do you like the Impacts? I like the slim style and being able to hear everything around you without worrying about going deaf from the gun fire.

  • @jayskibum09, I've had these for a couple of years, but I mainly use them when it's cold.

  • what is with all the pop abuse? if your not going to drink it mail it to me i love pop..... just sayin'

  • The CZ makes nice guns. I have a CZ 452 in 22LR.

  • i want one now

  • Comment removed

  • Great video as always.

  • is that old surpluss ammo? It looks like brown bear..

  • Ooo, pretty little rounds.

  • @wonderboy2402 , You sound about as sick as I am. I see a pile of cartridges as a beautiful thing, too. :-)

  • @hickok45 we all do lol we all do

  • Oh, and while we are on the subject of CZs, have you ever tested the standard CZ 75 in 9mm?

  • I have one in 223, with a Weaver 3X9 mounted on it, and it has outstanding accuracy at 200 yards, even with 55gr. milsurp ammo. The drawback of the 527 in 223 is that it has a relatively slow rate of twist so anything above 55 to 60 grain bullets won't work very well. CZ does however use a CIP European chamber spec, so 5.56 military ammo is perfectly safe to shoot in it.

  • that would be even more cool if it took AK mags

  • @HemiFreak94 , Then it would be a bolt action AK? -)

  • @hickok45 ya that would be pretty cool

  • @hickok45 A bolt-action rifle as sturdy as an AK, chambered in 7,62x39 and fed by 30-round magazines?

Ye gods, where do I have to sign

  • @hickok45 hey i see no issue with this

  • @hickok45 That would be very cool.

  • @hickok45 Mister Hickok.... I wonder if you sir have ever shot an 6.8 rifle.. if you did what were your impressions about it?

  • @hickok45 you should shoot the smith and wesson 500 magnum! :D

  • @hickok45 GLORIOUS!

  • @hickok45 idk how pratical a bolt gun would be with that size magazine as a typical AK mag. ive had a 30 round mag in my ar while in a deer stand it it really got in the way. i think the cz 527 is find just the way it is. maybe a 10round double stack mag would be kinda nice, maybe like the SMLE has.

  • You should make another Ruger 10/22 video! Almost everyone has one!

  • could you maibe do a video with a street sweeper or i think its called a striker 12.......i tryed looking but noone on youtube has a decent video with it

  • I don't have an ak either. We're only allowed sks. :|

  • Getting one!

  • How would you compare the recoil? Perhaps like a .30-30?

  • Finally a Ruger hat

  • Is that the NATO 7.62mm?

  • @MadnessOfMarmots 7.62x39 is a Russian round. 7.62x51 is the NATO round.

  • @MadnessOfMarmots no, the NATO 7.62 is, 7.62x51 aka the .308 not 7.62x39 that the gun in the video and the ak-47 fires

  • hell yeah! kcmo! born and raised

  • Definitely a cool little bolt action. Thanks for sharing...

  • do a review on a phoenix arms hp22a

  • Is it possible to fit a peep sight on that?

  • @Alex4757 CZ makes a peep sight that they can install in the rear ring of the receiver. They it pushes down out of the way so you can mount a scope.

  • @Alex4757 Fuck you

  • I must say i really enjoy your videos! Thanks for thorough info on the pieces and that you explain everything in an easy understandable way for novices like myself. Keep up the good work! Maybe you could get something of bigger calibers in the future :)

  • Speaking of handy bolt action carbines, do you have any experience with the Ruger 77/44 or 357, Hickok? I think they're really snazzy little rifles. I'd love to see you explode some 2 liters with one. :)

  • Could you please do a close up of the glock 29

  • Great change of pace Greg !!

  • dam it looks cold, 38c here in OZ at the moment were i live, over 40 c in other places, i love the cold, awesome little fun rifle, we can have them rifles here is oz, maz cap of 10rnds on all guns, we can have that cartridge too, wot a fun little gun it would have to have, i am going to look for an ozy price right now, cheers for now, dave in the land of OZ...

  • Cool little rifle... and it seems to be selling for around $600... not bad.
