My 2003 Kaw. Vulcan Classic 1600 that I bought new. The starter gear broke the teeth with only 8000 miles on it. Unfortunately the warranty ran out two years ago and I argued with the company that in my mind this is a defect. They refuse to make good on it so it cost to me $837.00 to get repaired. I will never buy a Kawasaki, again. This damage should never have happened with such low mileage.
I believe they had a recall on the 2003 for a gas tank and maybe a plastic oil gear but that was it. Anybody selling a 2003 should have had those things fixed by a dealer on the recall.. Mine is an "05". I know from 04 to 08 everything is perfect. I did alot of research before ending up with this bike. I've test ridden Harleys, Hondas, Yamis, Victorys,Suzukis and this bike came out way ahead...Honda VTX 1800 would have been my second choice cause it's fuel injected & watercooled also.

Its just that this one thing confuses me is the year stuff is there a differnce between the vulcan 1600 classic 2005 and 2008 or the 2003? just want to clear that up as i am new to bikes nice ride by the way :D .
I just bought an '06 1600A and I had the hell confused out of me. Why does these bikes have a choke, when they are fuel injected?

Sounds good! Did you take out your idle solenoids? or the reed valves? Is that an air cleaner mod on the right side of the engine?

Yes... I put on the Caddman air kit and disconnected the solenoids and installed the Thunder map into my PCIII
