thank you so much for the book recommendation. I looked it up instantly after watching your video and ordered it right away. I'll get to organizing my life now. So, thanks a lot :)
@Shajarena Seems to be a common theme with people in smaller spaces. I know the author of the book wrote about her small apartment in New York, so it can definitely be done. Just requires more selective focus than it may require for someone in a larger space. Good luck!
I just did about 3 weeks ago. Looking at my closet made me so happy. To accomplish my task I bought an extra tall shoe caddy. It collapsed in the middle of the night a couple of days ago.. Now my closet looks like the Holocaust Museum. Oh well, back to the hardware store for an industrial strength shoe caddy.
Asking your husband what he does and doesn't like is actually a good idea because how awesome would it be knowing that whatever you put on, your husband thinks you look good in? Great idea and self-esteem booster!
I tackled my master bedroom closet yest after watching this video.... well, @ least MY side of the closet! It looks absolutely FANTASTIC & my husband now wants 2 shape-up HIS side of the closet too! Thanks SO much 4 this! I've been SO discouraged about my home since moving in 3 years ago (yes, THREE yrs...my home has NEVER been this disorganized/cluttered in the last 25 yrs!). I'm looking forward 2 getting things back 2 "normal" & am gonna watch the next video now! :)
@aromaathome This is the best news I've heard all day!!! I'm so thrilled for you and so honored I could play a small part in your feeling encouraged and organized again! Thank you for sharing your experience.
@happee1 I know! I'm so blessed to have a huge closet. I came from another home with a TINY closet so this feels massive to me and does allow me to have space to spread things out and feel organized. If I had a smaller closet I would get rid of clothes I wear less often, pack clothes away when they're not in season, and probably have a bigger dresser in my room to fold more things rather than have them hanging.
Ha. Not what I expecting. That closet appears to house enough crap for 15 adults. I need to declutter+organize what stuff I do have, but I don't have anywhere near this much closet items. This video shouldn't have the word unclutter in it, you just rearranged stuff with tons of plastic. Those of us who live in small green spaces would never hoard that much stuff, it is really excessive+part of the problem you start talking about in the beginning. You don't seem to really "get it."
Your closet "before" picture is not that disorganized.... which makes those of us who ARE disorganized feel even worse about ourselves. LOL. Also, why "unclutter" and not "declutter"? Not trying to be snarky, just curious.
@calisongbird I guess it's all a matter of perspective. I think I mention that in general I'm pretty much a neat freak so things don't usually get too crazy. Of course I wouldn't want you to feel worse about your position... there is always hope if you just start small with one room or section at a time. Enlist the help of a neat freak friend... we always feel a little weird about how fanatical we are and love the chance to tackle someone else's clutter. :)
There is a much simpler closet organizer system to install that can fufill the exact same purpose. All of the shelves and brackets are constructed with solid oak and they only require a level and screwdriver to install. Best of all they require no studs for installation so you can place your shelves anywhere upon your wall. Search 'Wooden You Shelving'
@Malitose79 I know! I love it. Our previous home had such a tiny closet it was a joke, but you learn to live with what you've got. Hang in there... I'm sure a bigger closet is in your future. :)
@drjaz696 I feel blessed with my closet here. My previous home was in Silicon Valley and it was SO tiny that my husband had to share our son's closet. Things are always bigger in the South and when it comes to closet size that makes me very happy.
That is how I fold t-shirts, too. I learned it many years ago when I worked softlines in a department store and have been doing it ever since. It keeps them nice and tidy! :0)

@Shajarena Good luck! Having a smaller room does make it more difficult, but allows for some creative solutions! :)
