I hated this cutscene. Apart from the fact that Bentusi mothership being pwned was ridiculous, it also had the most ridiculous music out of all Homeworld games. It just looks like some bad parody of the real cutscene...
Talking about this kind of stuff i don't understand the lack of weapons on the mothership. It is the mothership for goodness sake, can't they fit in an Uber Ion cannon and a few torpedo launchers? This is what i dont understand, it is huge and yet they can't even built Uber Ion cannons, can someone help me to understand please?
Well according to the manual -and parts of the game- the Mothership wasn't complete when launched, its big guns were not installed...and for some reason, they never built them themselves in the long trip, electing instead to put those resources into warships.
In HW2, the Mothership still didn't have guns, but that was a design choice, they went with the platform defenses instead.
if ya want teh truth im glad they didnt put "uber" weps on the MS can u imagine how much time it would take up getting an ion cannon in range of something that just flew round the back of it :S
A HW2 mod, the Complex mod, gives you the option to upgrade your Mothership with heavy weaponry. You will then get some ion cannons, normal cannons, anti-fighter weaponry and a nuclear bomb launcher.
They mention that when the Mothership intitiated its hyperdrive test, many Mothership systems were incomplete. They say in the cutscene after Mission 02 that they were to return to the Scaffold for repairs as well as installing new weaponry on the Mothership. They obviously couldn't do that because when they returned to Kharak, the Scaffold was destroyed along with everything else save for the cryo trays.
the bentusi ion cannons were suppose to take out something the size of the mothership in like 30 seconds, i still dont believe that they cant take out a couple cruisers and frigets even if its hurt
did you all know that the same voice actor for the bentusi is the actual actor of the hybrid & hybrid voice in battlestar galactica Razor? for some reason I think Ron Moore had an encounter with homeworld. There are a few. similarities. Hyperspace jumps, bentusi voice actor, theyre looking for a homeworld.their planet was destroyed. they way the fighters & scouts maneuver and fire bullets is similar to the vipers. dont know, just some loose thoughts ....
I think it's possible the Taiidani fleet was much larger when it first took on the trade station and accepted severe losses in order to cripple it, and just when they think they have the trade station beat, the mothership hyperspaces in...
....and you have to kick the remaining fleets butt! I know...i got the game a while ago and i'm fighting at this mission!! The first homeworld is way harder than the second or Cataclysm!!
I felt the music in this scene was too peaceful. Made it sound like they were about to die and that this was their last moment.....then you come in with your Salvage Corvettes, steal all the Taiidan ships, and then it's like, "hey you're not dead after all!"
Why the bentusi tradship is so weak in this cutscreen？ In fact, the bentusi tradship is powerful enough to due with this easily! (I have simulate this situation in the player vs CPU mode)

This was a time before the Bentusi were ever so uber.
For all we know, we could of probably just arrive after like thousand waves of attacks or something.

This is script bullshit!! The bentusi tradestation had enough firepower to scramble out of trouble for a long time and defeat that fleet!!!!

Thatss probably because there were too mant destroyers. And we arrived just when he destroyed most of them, but they weaken her shieds too.
