  • ha ha very funny

  • carburation is off a bit

  • Timing Retarded to far but Vaccuum advance makes up for it when warmer.

  • warm it up man

    the choke is still on

  • warm it up man

  • What a sound... gettin' chicken skin...

  • Maybe the poor little thing has a cold and is all tucker out and needs to go to Bed and get 12 new spark plugs a cap, rotor and point an condensor

  • if i pay that much for a boat, it better start right away.

  • Sounds like Queen Mary just sharted herself.

  • awsome boat!

  • What an AWESOME boat!! Great sounding 'ol gal! Wish I could get a peek at the engine and the rest!

  • holy CRAP what a great sound!

  • First time out in a while??

  • Needs a tune up,..stick it on a Rolling bath,...lol. Sweet sounding boat dood.

  • sweet

  • That boat needs a simple tune up

  • @dynodon427 No tune-up required. That motor wasn't designed to idle. It wanted to run, and run hard. I know that sound well, having built several that sound like that.

  • Wonderful sound "like ripping silk'.

  • lol it craped befor it farted

  • It had a full 50 gal. tank when it first started, but after idling a minute and a half it

    ran out of gas!

  • let her warm up a bit.

  • Nice tuning LOL. Get a professional to tune it for u.

  • facinating to watch, not

  • What would you call doing a 'burn out' on water?

  • I love the sound of this boat. Reading the comments about cleaning the carb, LOL. It idled just fine, needed a few mins to warm up. Can't goose an engine like this cold and expect it to take the gas just like that. It is one of the most beautiful engine sounds I have ever heard.

  • beautiful sound...

  • You guys are in Oregon right, I've seen you at a few shows out here if I remember right.

  • I wish it were my boat! This was at Renton, Wa, maybe 1998 or so?

  • This is M U S I C!!!!!!

  • Now that's the sound of true power. I would take this over a rice rocket any day!

  • carb cleaner???

  • What a beaut!!

  • Now that's a beast engine :)

  • that thing sounds MEAN!!

  • cool

  • Oh only to hear the old girl running happy. Dad had a 24' Hacker when I was a youngster, re-powered by my grandfather, a Packard dealer, with a Packard V-12. I only just remember the sound of it starting up and running, but this stands the hair on the back of my neck straight up. Great post. Would really love to see more of this boat.

  • Ohhhh, man!!! What a beautifully SICK sound! Dial in a little choke and let the old girl warm up. Love the exposed exhaust tips! Would love to see video of the engine in or out of it's bay!

  • absolutly beautifull

  • Just needs to warm up some..Beauty..

  • It sounds great, but maybe it could use a Choke.

  • I thing a beauty, a fantastic name and a symphony of sound...

  • Badass!!

  • nice woody!!

  • cold indeed

    + nice

nice when it finds its voice

  • cold

  • *drooling like a retarded person* this is just sick!

  • So many people posting so many comments about things they know nothing about :) Sweet boat!

  • Wonderful. Love it when they cough and splutter and then just growl

  • Nice sound, but let it warm up abit

  • Don't really care about the green.. but your right.. EFI would make it run much better... even a simple TBI setup would help alot..

  • I think NO

  • Amazing.. it sounds like a beast.

  • Oh baby.....

  • Sounds like the carbs needed cleaning.

  • Phacking Awesome! Just bloody marvelous! 5/5!

  • its bigger than it looks, about a 32 footer. it was a really impressive boat!

  • HA... there's "no replacement for displcement"... they used humongous engines for sheer speed.... ever want to see actual poetry in motion ? Watch one of these old beauties up on plane going across the water, I guarantee you won't be able to kep your eyes off her....

  • why not????

  • same reason they put big motors in cars that dont appear to be that big.

  • Lol, my boat is called: Queen Mary 2 :-P

But that is a 4,5 fiberglas fishingboat with a 4 HP 4 stroke Suzuki ;-)

  • dam dude let the thing warm up bfore you gas it its old it needs its geritol lol

  • In the skipper's defense, I am pretty sure it wasnt stone cold, it had been out on a run around the lake not too long before this. But I know what you mean!

  • Nice burble to the exhaust ,nothing like a V12 --she sounds a little lean on crank up ,work that choke ,lol Remember a V12 is sucking gas like a Sow pig feeding her litter, 12 cylinders like fuel !

  • Dumb shit - it is a flathead - give her 10 min idle time -and she will do fine - typical- money -no brains here-! old boats - Remember this is not a new fuel -injected piece of shit --! i have a boat with a packard 12- first we have oil prime pump - 25 second shot to build pressure - then have engine cover open (no fuel vapor) plus venting fan - and fire up -idle at 450 rpm -10 -15 min - when you bend a valve -or throw a rod you will learn to properly operate old engines!
  • yep, with them there new fuel -injected pieces of shit ya just start 'em and they run fine, and for a long time too.

  • Is this your boat????

  • In my dreams.....

  • mine too!

  • yeah, same!

  • the boat and sound are beautiful. almost sounds a little too hot for a cruiser.lol

  • what kind of engine is it really?

  • It really is a 1930s vintage 894 cubic inch flathead V-12. I have a picture of this engine somewhere in my computer, If I find it I iwll post it.

  • While the sound of this FABULOUS V12 is like sex out of a tailpipe, what frustrates me as I see this over and over is the operators over-expectations of old technology on an obviously chilly startup. For God's sake let it warm a little bit a least. WONDERFUL sound wish there was more available.

  • how much horsepower?

  • figure 350 hp @ 3000 rpm more or less

  • not too bad, would expect a bit more for almost 900 cubic inches but again not like you need more then that anyway I'm sure she moves along pretty good :)

  • remember also this is a flathead engine with 1930s technology, and relatively low rpm.

  • wow, very beautiful for its age

  • Its putting out about 650 ft/lb of torque, too.

i think the skipper was trying to rev it like a modern engine and the carb was just not up to the task, so thats why all the stall outs. fuel delivery and ignition are other reaons for relatively low output. Sweet engine, and great sounds, in any case!!

  • yeah but it's the torque that moves it :D and I was wondering about why it stalled out so much I thought it was due to age or watever. I myself will hopefully be getting a 2009 Cobalt 210 come June or July (depending on my finances) I found a good deal at a dealer near me that sells them

  • Thanks for sharing. How about the rest of the boat... Sounds great, too.

  • That boat engines sounds better than car engines I think has two reasons. One, the exhaust system is not the same, usually the exhaust pipe is shorter in a boat than in a car. And two, most boat engines has more piston displacement :)

  • No mufflers, plus of course the 894 cubic inches!!!!

  • Why is it that boat engines always sound better than car engines, this sounds phenomenally better than any automotive V12 I have ever heard before.

  • Wow! Simply wow!
