Citizen has always intrigued me for its watches....When i was 13 years old and digital quarts watches were something new he owned one given present from his grandparents in China. It was absolutely something to envy...still looking out for it today. Can't find it on internet, do not know any type/model numbers. It had two round touch buttons on the front...thats al I can describe.

You must fix a Timezone where there is a RADIO CONTROLED Emitter like

"PAR" For Paris, "LON" for London, "ROM" for Rome These fuctionnal on FRANCKFURT Emitter

For other emiter in the world (Japan or USA) follow the workbook of the watches...

@lawmankung i would say citizen, i have only owned two citizen watches one wen i was a small boy i took it off one day at the beach then it disappeared silly me, the second time was just afew years ago i wore my skyhawk watch in the surf unfortatly i left the crown open as i was surfing when i finished my epic surf that day there was water inside the watch mind you the surf was 8 foot and pressure in the waves make your ears pop, so now i have learnt my lesson do not were these in hectic surf,

if you want to show the glow in the feature,make sure to put it under a strong light for about a minute and than turn off the lights and the glow in dark is brighter and more visible.

My father in law is a Citizen whore he has 26 citizen eco-drives and he recently added the JY0010-50E to his collection,titanium. He insisted that I get one. Which I did, stainless steel. I was pretty impressed. I to have an extensive watch collection varying from breitling all the way to seiko, but this watch stands out.I wore it to work one day, my co-workers were so impressed 3 of them purchased skyhawks. Also one of my college buddy's is on his way to get one....This watch is badass...

US version has the same orange glow. It's bright and very nice. The Japanese version is only different cosmetically, not in function. The dial is slightly different and the Japanese version has sapphire crystal which is more scratch resistant. If I were you, I'd go to any jewelry store and check it out in person. I felt no picture really did this watch justice. US version is great but does sapphire crystal warrant a $400 price difference? That's really the only differences I can see.

I'm glad you like it. I got the stainless steel for around $450 a little over a year ago. Good call on the sapphire crystal. That was really one of my only gripes. I'm glad citizen was able to take care of that for you. All and all I have been very pleased with this watch. I rock the mode dial in calendar mode most of the time.....

There really isn't a watch that I've found that would be a step-up from this one. And this one is only $500. I love mine. Syncs every night and always has full charge. Has a ton of features. Changing settings and time zones on this watch isn't that difficult, but it takes some getting used to. A hefty manual is there to help. It just might be above and beyond any watch out there that I've come across.

Does this USA version have the same orange light in the LCD part? I seen a $800-$900 version on eBay with the orange glow on the LCD window.

If the USA version lacks the orange glow is there other differences between the USA and JAPAN versions?

Would I be better off just spending $800 getting the Japan version over the cheaper USA version?

I loved the features of this watch. I have a big wrist (8"), and this watch was TOO FREAKING BIG! Even the titanium version is over 100g (READ: HEAVY), and the sheer size of it. I'd bump things with it all the time. Too big... just TOO BIG...

It's a good size at 45mm, but I've seen case sizes of 50 and above that offer less in terms of features and as well as a thicker case. i.e. the Subaqua Noma III. Though probably my only serious gripe about this watch is that you have to be a little careful bumping into things as this version only is mineral crystal. The perfect watch to address that, as rcaruso10 said, is the japanese version. Don't know why citizen couldn't include sapphire in the top of the line US model.

I think these flight computer watches are completely useless for flying purposes. I think there is no shortage of pen, paper, a Timex, and a cheap calculator all for $50. Throw in a real E6B and you are on a roll. I have mine just for collection purposes only.
