dude.. I have the same guitar..and i cant seem to fit in the whammy bar on the SAT pro bridge..any suggestions?? And is the guitar durable.. can it stand drops?
@oyeboy94 The color was discontinued a year or two ago I believe, and the SA line seems to have shrunk from 4 (if I remember correctly) to 2. I have seen the Flamed Maple Amber Burst finish on other models recently though, just not in the SA line. Looks like you'll have to go the route I went - used or NOS.
@wleblancjr I bought an Amber Burst SA260FM a couple of weeks ago... Might be different in different counties. I think mine actually looks more orange now I think about it and has white binding
@oyeboy94 the new 2011 Ibanez range includes the Ibanez SA260FM in Flamed Maple Amber burst now, also comes in Transparent Lavender burst aswell. The Ambur burst is better looking in my opinion. As far as I know the 2011 models will be released late February. Hope this helps. (I am going by the Australian models, I would assume US models and other countries would be the same, or similar.
Im thinking about buying this guitar. The red one looks orgasmic. Is the SAT pro bridge any good though? Ive tried the floating bridge in a cheaper model and it was absolutely awful.
@101andytoll101 The SAT Pro was surprisingly stable for the first year or so, returning to pitch after pretty heavy use beyond my expectations, but after a while the knife edges became dull. It has been a battle since to bring them back to a proper point. I've read that the metals used for the bridge and the pivot posts were on the soft side which would cause the dullness. My inexperience in filing and nut shaping probably explains the ongoing battle. I've got it back to almost perfect now.
It's an Ibanez SA 260FM - stock. There is that and more info that you may be interested in under the "more info" at the top right. Glad you enjoyed it!
Your dogs are clearly digging it... adopting the classic pose of genuine enraptured Eagles fans (and performers, for that matter). But nice playing, all the same.
How did you get such high quality audio? I realize that with many camcorders the on board audio microphone is so-so. DId you use an external mic for this video? If so could you give me some information on what mic you use.
The info for this clip at the top right of the page goes into a little more detail, but basically, the guitar was simultaneously tracked using Native Instruments Guitar Rig 3. I then merged the audio recorded in GR3 with the video using Sony Vegas 9. There was originally audio captured from the camera mic from the live audio playing through the PC speakers, but I edited that out, as the quality was useless. Hope that makes sense!
Nice Bro! That sounded pretty damn good to me!! I am glad to see you are still playing. Now we just need to get you out of the livingroom and onto a stage!!
i really love bright sounding guitars (: and i use the neck pickup a lot, because of the hendrix licks that i use. they only sound good when you use the neck P.U. thanks again. cheers (:
Yes - but don't be fooled. It is primarily Guitar Rig that is creating that tone. I had the selector set to the bridge humbucker, as the GR preset I chose favored it more, but in reality - through a real amp, the neck single-coil has a better sound to my ears. If I have time, I'll put together a clip showcasing this guitar through my Peavey Classic 30 in the various pickup positions.
hey, thanks a lot for answering in such short notice (: ok, really look forward to see the showcasing (: but before you make the clip about the guitar, can you tell me a few words about the guitar? i plan on buying it. overall sound? bright or fat and muddy? does it stay in tune with some notmal tremolo using? it would mean a lot to me (:
At first, I didn't care for the slight bright tone. That changed over time, and I much prefer the sound and feel of this guitar over my previous favorite (Ibanez Roadstar II). Especially since I've discovered the neck pickup - nice and full without sounding muddy - excellent articulation even with moderate distortion. I rarely use any of the others (other than the middle combined with neck when I want a more acoustic tone). This guitar changed me from being a bridge humbucker only player.
The bridge humbucker is decent, though not as powerful as my Roadstar. It picks up pinched harmonics pretty well. I haven't messed around much with it set to single-coil mode, so I can't comment much there. I haven't had any problem keeping in tune with moderate use of the trem - though I do recommend lubing the nut :P I've installed a Tremel-No for when I want to lock the floating bridge or set it to dive only. Works great! Hope that helps.
I love how your pets are just all chill in the background ^_^ lol but sweet cover bro!

On the Ibanez website, they don't have an option for the sunburst color option, only cherryburst. Do you know why?
oyeboy94 1 year ago
@oyeboy94
Sorry, blackberry sunburst. Not cherryburst.

A little bit to slow but just a little bit! Good solo!

You are probably right. The backing track I used does sound a tad slow, but I never compared it to the original. Thanks for the comment though!

I see, okay so you needed to capture audio without clipping. The onboard mic would have not picked up the sound of you guitar very well.
