They probably had a sequel in mind, and were setting up for one, but it's such a shame that this game wasn't pulled off very well. I actually never finished this game, as I got stuck on Earth. I haven't played it since I was about 11 though. Ten years later, it looks terrible, but I really enjoyed it at the time.
I remember playing this as a kid! For some reason, I absoultely HATED it. :P Looking back, it doesn't seem that bad, I guess I was just really sucky at it.
@svett89 Don't let the video fool you, the controls/camera can be really bad at times. True, it's not a bad game, but it's not all together good either.
I remember replaying the game so many times, thinking I got the wrong ending. Didn't have internet back then and no one I knew even heard of this game. Yet I feel this is one of the best games on the N64, minus the camera :)
@Speaktrap I didn't know about the PC version until after I got the N64 game. It's easier to play a console game than an old PC game anyway. I got the game and played through it in an exchange for a mystery game (ended up being Hercules: The Legendary Journeys). It's also easier to record consoles for me.
This was sadly the only ending. I'm pretty sure Infogrames were toying with making a sequel, but this got so many naff reviews, and I don't think it sold well, so they didn't bother. It's a shame.
I had this game and when i got to the tropical island with the dodo bird i was so confused...im 15 right now but last time i played that game i was 5-8...
@OmegaBowser123 Yeah, but what do you consider a good game? And compared to the games of its time, or current games, or NES games, or N64 games, or PC games? Maybe what I consider a good game, you consider a bad one, and then the comparison you're asking for has no value to you. You may still be interested in playing the game though because it does things other games don't. Consider what exactly it is you're asking for.
@BloKK187 Now that Youtube allows videos longer than an hour, they should really update their time code links. 16:57 should link to the correct spot now. I'm glad you liked the video.
@BloKK187 This should be easily be less than 2 hours in a final version of a run, and very close to 1.5 I'd say. The person I sent the game off to is in school though, and hasn't had a lot of time to speedrun lately.
I played it on PC. Twas and still is my most favourite game of all time. It was extremely hard, but I managed to finish it. First game I ever finished. I was 10. :D
@HesteBacon I never practiced it, but I did notice that a shot would change angles. I think someone mentioned already if you hold the shot button down you'll be able to control the shot.
@HesteBacon I woke up one morning and youtube said the 15 minute limit had been lifted from my account. As for recording, I used my DVD recorder, transferred the dubbed video to computer and encoded it using anri-chan.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Hopefully there's be a good run of it some day.
I remember I managed to get this working on an emulator...somewhat. The textures were all really frazzled. I remember, Earth was hard, because there was no sky, and all ground textures were near black. After nearly 4 hours of navigating through that labrynth, I was stopped when I was right outside where the human is, I couldn't find the exit to those tunnels.
I could never get past level 2 there some kind of stdium where you had to go but you couldnt use the rocket to get in there, it was at the weapon convention part
I really hated the game for not having any hints where to or what to go
@Rammyserbe The ending makes very little sense to me. I don't think there's more than one ending, so some how after beating the boss, you're suddenly captured off-screen and a clone takes your place. I guess they may have been setting up for a sequel, but it's hard to say. One of the writers/designers would have to answer this question.
I've beaten this game for 6 times trying to find alternative ending, but there isn't any. I guess they tried to make a sequel, too bad that never happened.
I'm ashamed to say this, but Starshot is my favourite game of all time. The dialogue is funny as shit, it has great music and characters and it's simply so original.
@xHEDGEHOGMAN1x I don't know, I didn't use an emulator. N64 emulation is pretty bad for any of the less popular games. I suggest getting your hands on a console and the game.
@Killer4741 You are a secret weapon, sold to a circus. The rival of your circus is VirtuaCircus. You need to collect "acts" from each planet to put on the best show and raise 3 million currency to pay off a bank bomb that will explode in a set time (not really timed). Once you collect everything, the bomb takes the money, but it was actually working for VirtuaCircus! So, off you go to get the money back. You defeat the last boss, but are captured in the process. The End?
This was the first game (Along with Mario Kart) that I got for the N64.
Only years later did I finally finish it, but the ending really killed it for me.
I thought that they were intending to make a sequel, or that I got the bad ending, because I couldn't believe how unaccomplished I felt after beating it. It was a major disappointment.
Oh, and I don't think you knew, but holding down the B button after shooting lets you control the shot, and the Virtua Circus doesn't need to be shot in Tensuns.
@IMMATOONLINK Wow! I didn't know that. I mean I noticed that I could kind of control the shot, but never really tried to figure out how. Thank you.
The ending was really a twist I didn't see coming. I figured there must be a different ending, but it didn't seem to matter which entrance I took to the boss, I got the same ending. I also thought maybe collecting all mega fuel would do it, but I never bothered to try.
What do you mean it doesn't need to be shot? How else do you end the level?
@ZenicReverie You can get the sharks to eat the legs.
Bouncing on the Virtua Circus soldiers on the water gets the sharks to eat them, and you sorta lead the sharks to the "legs" of the ship, and they eat those. This saves loads of shots.
It was opposite for me, I thought that the sharks were the only way to get the circus to launch.
Oh, and my theory on how to get the "second ending" is by trying to not get scanned. It hasn't been tested, so it may work.
@ZenicReverie I just tried out my theory, and in order to do so, I used Debug Mode. (Pause, when on "continue" press C-Up then C-Down, go down once, press C-Up then C-Down, go down again, press C-Right then A. Debug mode gets activated.)
So I fought Wolfgang a few times, and I made sure I didn't even touch the red platforms.
After loads of tries, I got to the end of the fight. I didn't even see a scanner... and he somehow got a copy of me.
@thekooldude215 Some accounts have been allowed to upload videos longer than 15 minutes. I'm not sure how they calculate it really, but this is the longest video that has successfully uploaded. I've tried uploading a video just below 6 hours and it was removed for being too long. There's no official word from YouTube regarding the limit increase.
Thank you so much for putting this up!! I can't believe that today, after looking at some other N64 game by chance I thought about how I never got to finish Starshot.
I remember back in the days I couldn't find ANY information on this game and I ended up thinking maybe it only came out in France/Belgium lol.
So thank you for putting this up! I really loved this game but it was too hard for me to finish as I got lost... I remember loving killer expo with the Blue/Red war (if I recall correctly)
@Solaar87 I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's actually up here to help a friend beat the game as fast as possible, but I'm happy to see it has other uses as well. It came out in Europe (PAL) first I believe, and fairly quietly released in the USA.
It actually took me a while to finish it on my own, as some of the puzzles stumped me for quite a bit. There are some cool ideas though, like the Blue/Red war where you need to help destroy one side in order for the other to help you.
i love you thx

Hi, I have some questions
1 - if the last level and go another way to vanquish Starshot Wolfwang may not be in jail at the end?
2 - and if that's not there another game that continued the story? because all the N64 games you can download with the Project64 ...
please respond
Tommy19 1 month ago
@Tommy19 1 - doesn't matter which entrance you use, you end up in jail either way.
2 - I don't know of any sequel that was released.
