  • You have a good setup to convert into a moving bed filter

  • Dang those two gourami's are HUGE.

  • can i make a filter for a pond 1/4 miles long?

  • What Media Do you use?? The Filter Seems Real Effective!!!

  • @chengaun (What media do you use??) I think highresvid has already made it clear that he is using cheap kitchen scrubbing pads (soft square sponge sandwiched to a layer of coarse plastic abrasive fibre) as the FILTER MEDIA and not for literally scrubbing the pond, as some people here seem to think.

  • @utubeKev1 i know. i just wanted to confirm what media he used. :-)

  • the green of the sides? let your fishes clean those up... fishes are vegetarians you know? they will clean those up in no time.. try not feeding them for a day or two.. ;)

  • how do you clean the green off the sides??

  • It wasnt a grand to set up, the Tetra Choice filter was 100.00 and the microlift for beneficial bacteria is 34.00. You mention scrubbing? What are you scrubbing? The sides?

  • over here the branded one like tetra, eheim is costly. I prefer to do DIY ones..

yeah, im only using kitchen scrubbing pads as my mech, chemical filtration media.

  • i dont know but im no seroius koi/fish/pond keeper. i try to be not to overspent my budget. Aquascape is a company which take away the guess work of pond mintenance. did i mention, 2-years plus my pond is green-free, maintenance is just a few minutes draining + every week, 10-20% water replacement.

  • We had green water problems even with a filter and a UV until we switched to Tetra Choice system with water filtered through two two coarse filter pads (which I have to rinse every 3 or 4 days to keep it clean- every day for 4 days in the beginning!!!!) and the media balls in the bottom. Addewd Microblift to get it going. Then and only then was I able to walk out each morning and see the bottom (I have 22-24 inches and 36 in other)I now am loving my pond now! Go see my videos at karenmac2

  • my pond dont use all those stuff, im kinda on a budget & dont want to spend a grand. im using plain kitchen scrubbing pads, a plastic trash can.. some plumbing works.. wwalla.. Green free since feb-06.

  • its still is crystal clear until now. what is it a year ago...

  • get a skimmer and itll be perfect!

  • what pump size do u have?

  • what pump size do u have?

  • Man, you didn't explain how you changed the filter to keep the water clear. Did you put some sort of mesh in the filter or something? I don't get how you did it.

  • pls search skippystuff at yahoo or other search engines if you still dont understand, ask away...

  • Yeah, I searched the skippystuff and it appears to work. How long did you have to wait for the water to go from green to clear? (once you got it all set up and everything)

  • well, it took me about 2-3 weeks to remove my green. but if you start from new (no green to start with) that took 2 months. but i have found ways to quicken the green-free process. (PM me if you want more info) my pond is coming 1-year old (this Sept-07) and its green-free.

  • i'll tell you why or how the water got from green to clear.....you gots to use UV filter.

  • Sorry to say. I dont use any UV filter for the pond setup. UV tube cost $, and every 6 mths or so, you'll have to replace your UV tubes. My pond is maintenance free, except for a few minutes of draining. ;o) 2-years plus now.. Green-Free.

  • Cool....not the prettiest setup but quite effective.

    Good Job!
