  • Some godlike animation going on up in HEA'.

  • lol did u guys notice the scientist using google earth to pinpoint the building and bridge XD

  • @ 3:10 "But...Lois....(you're a woman. And women can't do things independently. Everyone knows that! Gosh!)"

  • I have this on DVD. It's like a whole slew of old cartoons, it's awesome.

  • 8:33 "I don't believe it! He isn't human!". Well, of course he isn't! And you've JUST figured that out after you've seen the guy balance a skyscraper, fly, and push back your laser ray? Haha....WOW.

What in the world was Lios thinking!? Haha...as if the mad sciencist would just invite her in for a chat with tea.

  • Its a bird! its a plane! Its Superman! nope its chuck testa

  • The crow steals the show ;>

  • Wow i used to watch this in the 90s when i was a little kid. Didn't know it was a 1940s cartoon. Still love this stuff haha

  • Clarke Kent here looks like a cross between Gregory Peck and Rock Hudson. More like Gregory Peck actually.

  • @stylezofom Neither of those two were famous when this was made in 1940/41. Rock Hudson was a teenager and Gregory Peck was a small stage actor.

  • @therealCamoron oh.. hey your right. this was 1941. my bad.

  • the animation was flawless

  • I got the urge to watch this when i randomly hummed the intro, thank you for having this up

  • I WANT TO RATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • this 1940s made superman's "S" wrong

  • Hey guys now catch The man of steel- Superman only on STARPLAYER

  • I remember this when i was 3 holy s*it

  • I don't fell sorry for Lois Lane..That's what she gets for trying to prove she can do things on her own with out help. I hate people like that doing something they know is dangerious just to prove they can do it.

  • That eagle looks like a German eagle!

  • today it might look funny with the soundeffects and the cute bird...

but when i watched this as a kid the scientist scared the shit out of me,

    everytime i saw it!

  • I like the painted backgrounds and shadowns, so much more lively than what you see nowdays.

  • He couldn't fly in the old cartoons my ass

That bit with the building toppling was clearly flying

    HAX!

  • @adrixshadow in fact, the cartoons are the reason the character can fly at all! It was easier to animate than jumping so they decided to give him the ability and it eventually made its way into the comics :)

  • The music is just unbelievably great

  • Great stuff!

  • Lois Lane is really dumb here. "Yea ill fly a plane to this guy's lair in the middle of no where and knock on the front door! What could go wrong?"

  • take that stupid laser, bang zoom right in the kisser

  • So why was this animation so awesome, when the Spider-Man cartoon, which came 25 years later, so crap?

  • @AutoStigmata These were theatrical shorts. Spider-Man was for TV

  • The studio was willing to spend money.

  • Cartoon the way its meant to be. Nuf said.

  • I notice a few flaws here with the story. 1) Why didn't clark follow Lois as Superman since he knew where she was going to go? 2) Why would he turn the light on to change into superman when there was a room full of people outside? 3) why did he sneak out of the building rather than just superspeed run out the front doors and then take off into the sky? 4) Again, why not use superspeed to get lois out of there and grab the bad guy rather than just hopskotch your way out

    still love this though.

  • Great animation! Also, this must be where they got the inspiration for Dr. Evil's outfit.

  • Awesome cartoon, and i love the animation style, btw anyone sees a resemblance with George Reeves?

  • for an 1941 cartoon its style is amazing !

  • INDIE MAN!

    Defender of Indie developers!

  • this is so old but im go watch it

  • Truth justice and the american way or is that 60'ssuper man

  • u should tag Fleischer brothers

  • Oh lord, how I've missed that theme music. Awesome upload!

  • DAMN for 1941 this has quite a bit of detail and very well animated. unlike the new crap they dont even take there time anymore

  • I remember having a VHS tape of this as I child. Were there more episodes? I could swear there were several included on the tape I had.

  • I never stop being amazed at how beautiful the animation was back then. It's like every frame is mini masterpiece.

  • LOOK! Up in the sky!!!!

  • Man, Lois is a bitch.

  • Upload more plaese

  • Why is that in the 60's animation became so much lamer?

  • 1. Don't apologize for the credits--that's a classic theme song, I'm a 90s kid and I remember hearing that song before the 90s cartoon version or even the Reeve movie theme (ALL THREE ARE SO GREAT!) :D

    2. Wait--Superman was found by two folks and adopted to live in the Midwest as a baby, right? What's all this about an orhpanage?

    3. I wonder if Peter Parker and Clark Kent head a society called "Society For Superheroes Whose Main Disguise Is A Simple Pair Of Glasses!" ;)

    SUPERMAN FOREVER!

  • Nah, don't apologize for the credits; the theme song was what I wanted to hear!

  • didn't know he was a kangaroo back then :)

  • Why do all these mad scientists/criminals warn people BEFORE they commit the crime?

  • got a problem with a laser beam, just punch it hurr durr

  • when he comes out the closet i would to hear somebody say...hey clark! where you going

  • Man i used to have all of these old school Superman toons on VHS, takes me back

  • That was good. Thanks for the upload!

  • You'd think that in a room full of people, someone would have seen Clark go into the closet to change into superman.

  • The music and the graphic reminds me Popeye...in fact, the series were made both by Paramount.

  • Why didn't Walt Disney adopt Captain America into a theatrical cartoon as his answer to the Superman cartoons? that would have been a smart choice.

  • l was raised on these, good upload sir.

  • i had a video tape of old superman cartoons i used to watch it all the time

there was alot of racism agiasnt japs

  • the song is cool

    i missed this cartoon!!!

i always used to watched it

  • What the @#$%? No gay characters? No anti religious messages? No condemnation of imperial America? You can tell this cartoon wasn't made recently.

  • @armandx10

    no xity art also

  • @armandx10

Yes. And no characters of African descent, or Asian (well, except for the ones condemning the Japanese as inbred monkeys), no Jews or any other groups of people. Just a white guy saving white America from the evil Japanese. -_-'

  • @TheThordir

Pffft.... Superman isn't White. He's an alien. Sheesh.

  • @armandx10 OMG You're right! Women back in the kitchen, slaves back in their quarters, gays on the chopping block. That's what Jesus would want!

    Please.

  • far too amazing awesome. wonder why not as many cartoons use rotorscoping like this when it gives u awesome animation

  • Wow this was one of my favorite cartoons when I was 4

  • o shit i used to have this on VHS....was this 89 cus this when i got it

  • @goonie50 Dude, it's from 1941

  • This is the Superman I remember!

  • He's punchin the crap outta that light!

  • i remember seeing one episode of this- or is it this one?

  • among the best hand drawn animation (the ONLY animation) ever. anywhere.

  • Anyone notice the censorship?

    "Chief, don't you think that's a dangerous mission f-"

Sounds like he was trying to say "for a girl".

It really shows how revoltingingly politically correct today's world is.

  • I thought that I wouldn' t see this episode ever again ^^

  • reminds me when i was young. brings back good memories <33333

    Thanks uploader !!

  • hahahaha i remember this

  • I can't believe this dude is apologizing about having the credits. Them and the music are a fundamental part of old cartoons. Never cut off the credits!

  • Used to watch this when I was a kid.

  • Oh my God, I remember watching this for the first time when I was 3 or 4 years old. AND IM 18!!! Thank you Grandma for holding on to these old cartoons for me to enjoy!!!

  • holy shit i used to watch this at my grandma's house all the time when i was real young. She had it on VHS.

  • @zachDPR ME TOO!!!!! as i just said in my comment lol

  • I used to watch these every morning. I forgot what channel played them, but I loved these cartoons so much, it was worth getting up in the morning!

  • Whats wrong with credits?

  • Back in the days, when Superman didn't take shit!

  • Holy Crap I watched these cartoons on VHS as a kid...O_O

Never thought I'd see it again 15 years later on Youtube!

  • Hehe you and me both :D It was a great time..

  • The only thing that matches this is the DC Animated Universe, that is, Superman TAS, Batman TAS, Both Justice League and Unlimited and Batman Forever.

  • Hahah this show is awesome.

But Y wuld da mad scientist give warning?? Datz weird, but haha w/e

  • holy fuuuuuuuuuck this shit is olddd i rememberrrrrr

  • very little sound effects

  • I got a flash BACK of my childhood !!!

  • i remember this when i was young my father used to do the intro when i was young (:

  • Now this is a cartoon. Does anyone know what year this from?

  • i haven seen this for fifteen years. when i was 7 lol. the human memory and psyche is amazing, when i started watching it i got all these different feelings rushing back i swear i was a kid again for 30 seconds.

  • clark's eyes are closed

  • Now THIS is Superman!

  • I use to have all of these.

  • Man there sure are some different standards for names than there used to be... Mad Scientist? That's his entire name, huh?

And how is he punching a ray of energy, anyway?

Still, EXTREMELY pretty for it's time.

  • I had all these on VHS as a child.

    this brings back MASSIVE memories!

  • lol at 8:25 on the vid superman is badassssss

  • Yeah, i got it in video long time ago !! Memories !

  • Thats remind me some souvenirs !

  • Epic!! :D

  • this isnt that bad

    i woudl watch this

  • Today cartoons are trash made by trash

  • @Incrue its not trash its that they don't market them properly anymore what happen is al teh ppl like us watching them grew up and now still watch them but the ppl are making them for us still not hte kids like when we are... basicly they are now shifted from early mornings to late at night

  • @Incrue whenever special effects and technology imrpoves, story lines seem to get shitter. It's as if they replaced the story

  • @shahrid1987 lol you are telling me this story line is awesome? this was lame, there were no twists or plot thickeners, all he did was fight a laser, super bust...

  • @Necronaut good point mate. however in general whenever animation improves, sometimes the story line suffers.

  • @shahrid1987 I have noticed that, not much though, maybe because i've steered away from those cartoons. I recently watched superman/batman apocalypse, good animation with a decent story, as well as the "hulk vs." series, they have some sweet battle scenes, for greater viewing experience I recommend smoking some weed b4 any super hero cartoon.

  • @Necronaut i'll check them out, and at the same time al give my dealer a ring loll

  • @Incrue the justice league pwned these old shits

  • @Necronaut this was from the 40's dude, no way the justice league is better. its equally as awesome, but this is extremely awesome for being from the 40's

  • @shakyed WAY the justice league is better, better animation which means when someone gets thrown through a mountain i can see all the destruction in DETAIL. 40s sucked

  • @shakyed yea, for the 40s this is pretty cool

  • Er...40's. Oops.

  • That is some damn solid animation for a cartoon from the 60's.

  • i second that

  • Yeah...but this is from the 40's...so that's even BETTER...And FAR better then what's on nowadays

  • HA! i owned these cartoons on VHS!

i think i still have them!
