You shouldn't be trotting on your first lesson! You should be focussing on posture and controlling the horse first! I have to say though, he did very well!
Thanks for this. My 6 year old son was really scared about his first riding lesson (he'd been watching International Velvet and thought he'd have to run and jump the adult horses) and now he's okay about it after watching this.
you did you sent a message on my hotmail saying that i was a liar of trotting on my 1st lesson even when i did! i think ur son is a great rider i wasnt insulting him! and please dont send anymore messages to my hotmail coz ma mum luks at ma emails
seriously, i have no idea what you are talking about. i wouldnt even know how to get your hotmail address. i only use youtube to post videos i never communicate with people outside the message thingy and video comment application on youtube. you are having a go at the wrong person, im too old to be hassling myself with comments and peoples oppions on my videos flower. if i had an issue with anything someone put id just remove the comment, simple!
you no wat for his first lesson daniel did AMAZINGLY, he's a brilliant little jockey and such a great help aroun the yard, so until you've got sumat nice to say don't say anythin at all ! ! !
hi sandra you know wot dat all4pharlap guy is a dick hed wen he shows da world how good he is then he can juged other people u shuld tell him to shut da fuck up coz u no wot daniel did well gd and hes only little and hes gettin loads betterx
who ever u are ur a tyght bastered and im at his yard and hes well gd so keep ur comments to urself until weve seen u riding then u cnt judge no one coz u culd be well shit ! so SHUT UP!!!!!!
Erm, this was his first time on a horse?! Yeah at 5 you may have been riding for a couple of years meaning you could jump, i'm sure you looked exactly like this on your first lesson because i sure know that i did. Actually, i could hardly sit properly on my first lesson. Everyone learns to do things at different times and at different speeds. There was no need what so ever for your comment, how rude do you want to be?
Anyway, he looks soo cute! Is he still into riding? :) xx
@misshorserider1995 hi, thanks for your comments. yes Daniel does still ride, but he's 9 now and prefers the tractor and labouring work at the yard lol
thanks, yeah it was his first lesson, he'd only ever sat on a donkey b4 this. hes with me most days at the stables but hes more into grooming and mucking out at the min, its probably cos its winter haha
in what way does a crupper seem painful? it has a sheepskin cover to prevent rubbing on the underside of the tail, its fitted correctly, and is required for that particular pony. i dont see the problem
theyre mainly used to prevent the saddle from slipping, if the horse/pony is particulary rounded. even the best fitted saddles will move about, the crupper is just an aid to secure it
Yeah, thanks. i wouldnt have it any other way, he's being brought up the way i was... the responsible way. he's the same with money, he wants sumit he saves up for it :-)
haha, im surprised you stuck with it, usually the screamers give up. lol. i remember my first time without a leader, i came back hanging from the underside of the ponys neck, and when it stopped i landed in a huge puddle of mud! lmao
He's done very well for his first lesson. Tell him well done from moi. :) That cat at the end, how tame. My old cat was fantastic, but touch its back or tail and she'd have you for it. :D
just told him, hes chuffed to bits. thankyou. that yard cat was following dan all over the place, even when he had his packed lunch it was sat with him! haha
Wow, he is very good. :) Better than my first ride (14 years ago). I still remember falling off when the horse stopped to eat grass. XD

He is brilliant! Isnt the girth a bit too loose??
Pinkelona1298 3 years ago
thanks. the girth wasnt loose, i'd never allow him on horseback if it was loose. its got a girth sleeve over it which makes it seem baggy
missy71 3 years ago

What are cruppers used for??I always see them but I have never learned what they are used for...

theyre mainly used to prevent the saddle from slipping, if the horse/pony is particulary rounded. even the best fitted saddles will move about, the crupper is just an aid to secure it
