Can you add your own pdf files or have to buy from the store? And how do the files you add yourself from the internet fit on the pages compared to the ones you buy?
aaaack ! im so confused now !! ive been looking for a reader for about a month now ! and i have no idea which one is for me ! maybe someone can help?! This is me: I live in Europe, I want to be able to dl (or whatever u do) any book i want, i want to be able to read in bright sunlight AAAND while laying in bed at night (without the use of an extra reading light) some one PLEEEASE tell me which reader is right for me !!
any reader with the ink tecnology thing can do that. the kindel is expensive and the illiad and cybook average at 350. this one is 300(in vid) i think the cybook has a better design but this one has more book choice, longer battery as well as some other prominet features. if it were my choice i would go with the sony. Hope i helped!!!
The sound was slightly out of sync for me. Can the reader load ebooks from the SD card or is that just for MP3s? I've loked online but doesn't seem clear.
I think the SD card is for extra memory - incase you want to carry around more than 160 books on the device. I'm not sure if you can put mp3s on the card.
Yeah! u hav a point... but i seem to like the IREX ILIAD more than the sony... not that the sony is bad product, i like the touch screen feature in the iliad... but it costs twice as much! :-(
Ya. Same here. I am a student to takes a LOT of notes in class. I make PDF files out of the notes with a Bamboo Fun (I write with the tablet and convert it into text). I would suggest this for a high school or college student. I would suggest the Kindle for extensive readers like your prune of a librarian.

@Metropolis2112 This is an old review. Sony made a firmware update which allows PDF files to reflow when zoomed.

You can add your own pdf file. I haven't had to buy one yet so I don't know about those.

Original firmware used at the time of the review didn't allow it. newest firmware does allow it.

When you buy this for $299 does it already have a case or do you need to buy the case separately?
adeth8 3 years ago

The PRS 700 will have a backlight for poor lighting conditions; but I've read that it's very reflective.

if I have a book on my computer in pdf format, can I simply upload it into the reader or do I have to buy the book again from Sony ?
qubix2008 3 years ago
You can use a program called calibre and convert any pdf document into the ebook format sony uses...

i think it costs US$299... worth it... but if you hav an extra 100 bucks lying around, buy the amazon kindle...
nagarjun424 4 years ago
the kindle is a portable DRM bookstore, and nobody should ever support DRM, sony teamed with Borders, so the bookstore is getting better

Sony's reader supports PDF while the Kindle does not. I would rather have PDF support than cell phone internet access.
