Total garbage! Anton has more talent in his finger nail! This band is a commercial joke! It is a shame that the true artists always suffer while the charlatans continue to spread weak messages to the masses!
400 000 dollars spent on that video it's like flushing money in the toilets. David Lachapelle is an interesting photographer but this video is super shit, it's supposed to be ironic and retro but it's just wrong and it's got nothing to do with the band. That's what a major company make you do, go indie!
It's amazing how things can grow with you. Here is a song I didn't like at all when I first heard it in 1998. Now, ten years later, I love it and the melody really speaks to me. On the other hand, though I get the point of the video, I don't like it very much; guess I've just heard this song stand-alone in my head for too long.
Zia McCabe, the chick shaking her tits whilst playing the Korg brand keyboard to the left of the stage, is the bands bass player; (the Korg pulls double duty by acting as a secondary source for lead and rhythm (melody) and in addition bass, much like Ray Manzarek's organ did in/for The Doors .)
umm.... to mr it's-not-actually-anti-drugs dude, if you pay attention it is anti drugs - it says how there are much better things to do than drugs (getting piercings and becoming gay being one of them).
I only discovered this song a few weeks ago after seeing part of the "Dig" documentary on TV and "Googling" a line from the song. I can't believe it's 10 years old!
Since then I've listened to it ad nauseum and have it swirling around in my brain day and night!
I've never tried drugs of any description, but boy, this song is sooooooooooo addictive!
Here's an early Christmas present for you: At 00:38, if you hold the left-hand mouse pointer down on the circular "counter" thing that goes along the red time line, the video will "jump" continually, so you can see Zia's assets jiggle in fast motion to your heart's content. Doubtless you'll need a box of tissues on hand for that one...
Heart-warming to see an enlightened intellectual such as yourself making informed and thoughtful contributions on YouTube. Your family must be so proud...
You know, what really sucks about this is that the song really only got picked up because people thought it was an anti-drug song. The thing is, the song wasn't nearly as deep as that. The song is actually more "heroin isn't trendy these days" than "heroin is actually bad for you". But hey... whatever gets you on the radio, I guess. Great song, decent album.
The keyboardist would take off her shirt during gigs and just flop around with them. She needs some kind of special medal or award for that.

Did it ever occur to this guy that drug addiction is actually a serious problem? Brian Jonestown Massacre piss all over dandy warhols.

THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST VIDEOS EVER!!! It's one that makes me go I wish I had thought of that.
P.S. That guy @ 1:20 reminds me of Joey Tribbiani.
P.P.S. I don't think that chick in black is supposed to represent anyone.
BiancaEstrella303 2 years ago 2
Okay, cuz that was kinda bugging me since he brought that up.
TweekMorgan4dictator 2 years ago
Man I've always wondered , considering the decade, if the woman at the end in black was supposed to represent courtney love.
duckmonsterX 2 years ago
Man, I never thought of it before, but I think there's a possibility.

have to disagree video rocks! Taking the piss about losers who do drugs and think they are cool because of it is funny too!
hididdlyho82 3 years ago
When I first heard the song, I fucking hated it because I had just lost a friend to heroin and had literally no sense of humor on the topic at all.
With a decade passed since, it really was a pretty awesome song, and my lack of humor at the time was not the songs fault, merely mine.
Heroin fucking sucks.

depends where you get them.....
but yeah, i shoulda put them as some of the things that are better than drugs, rather than one of the things. sorry.

No worries. I was just playing.
But I do like drugs better than piercings.
