having a torque converter would greatly help the G8 in off the line launches against an AWD car like the STI. didnt even sound like this G8 revved to launch in the first place.
i just got a pontiac g8 and my buddy just got an sti so wen we race in a week ill record it nd u can see whose faster then, plus it will be on an empty street so it will be heads up
This race is just like the one where the G8 GT races a 350z. The G8 GT BOTH times got the outside lane with NO CAR in its lane. The G8 driver didn't have to worry about rear ending anyone. The STI did just as the 350Z did in the other video. I'm not saying the G8 GT isn't faster or didn't win, but both races weren't fair IMO. Make the G8 GT race in the inside lane with a car in its lane and see what happens.
An AWD car can mess up the launch if you bog it. I see it happen so many times (especially in STIs), it's crazy. If you don't launch at the right rpms, you'll bog the launch and launch worse than RWD or FWD IMO.
I have raced 2 stis....and beat both by a car and half at the sac raceway....stis are easy to mod..true...so is the G8....
i found that most drivers ..cant really drive the STI to its full potential like 9 out of 10 drivers miss a gear...of fuc up the lauch...im not saying i could drive it well either.G8 is sooo easy to drive fast....the stock tranny sucks...but my buddy had the tune and tranny fix..done by vector...and it dropped like 4 tenths lower than miine for around 350 bucks..
actually g8 GTs are awesome. for the money u cant beat it. the interior is much improved over what pontiacs are known for and it is relatively easy to run into the 12s with just bolt-ons and a tune. my opinion they should of left all the logos and any hints of pontiac out of the car just how hyundai did with the genesis. with that said that it is THE BEST IN CLASS AND VALUE SPORT SEDAN TO BEAT, PERIOD.

Don't be such a moron import fanboy. The G8 GT traps 102-105 in the quarter. The STi traps 99-103. If the G8 had AWD it would easily beat a STi. Before you call domestic cars junk keep in mind that my freakin Oldsmobile was one of the quickest sedans for 1996 and was the first car ever to have a LCD GPS navigation system in the WORLD.
yeah but which is lighter? the STi. with 2-3k in mods would get the sti to about 450HP, by looking at this it didnt have any mods. Just face it, the STi is a real car, the G8 needs to be Stick, and lighter then maybe it'll have a chance
ok,so with 1k the g8 has the same power cuz stock for stock the g8 puts out more hp,by a good 60.off the line the sti should be good,but on top end the g8 is back!

The STI got beat... Of course it would take off faster but the G8 would catch up & pass him up on top.
This was the 1st race i Didn't get to tape the other race where the STI got Beat Sorry.
