  • very clever thanks for the inspiration

  • Very good. Thanks. I have a spare digital vernier and fancy a small project on the old Peatol. Regards. Food for thought.

  • @Bilbo107, I would suggest only one thing different, mount the readout on the right side of the slide instead of the left side because of the swarf, I will do that on mine in the near future.

  • do you think about coolant?

  • WD40 doe sthe job if needed and does not seem to hurt the readout, still have to make a air cooling system and want to move the readout to the other side of the carriage, but hey it's cheap and easy top replace if it fails after a few years.

  • @benabousa Definately not coolant proof, in fact any moisture it will pack up. Wrecked loads of Mitutoyo with a splash of coolant, now gone IP67.

All three scales went on small mill after a few months use, approx £230 plus 2 axis readout £150. Another £60 could have had real thing! False economy.

By the way i did have some brand new verniers 6 and 8" cost £1.50 each.

  • @jhareng - I made a cover from plexiglass a few months later to prevent any coolant getting in.

  • The song is from 'the police' called 'love is the seventh wave'

  • Cool!

  • Clever! I like it
