I love Zenyatta too but she has never raced against males, and always races against the same mares. RA has beaten fillies and males in and out of her age group, on 7 or 8 different tracks.

That's exactly it. She's run on synthetic before and lost(Keenland I think) , so they already know she won't do well with that . And they made that mistake with Curlin, so it seems like a smart idea to keep her away from the breeders cup.=] I hope she runs in the Woodword at saratoga. that would prove she could beat the older boys and probebly win her horse of the year.
I think it's sad that fillies and mares have to run against colts to prove themselves. It's not like this 3 year old crop is super impressive. Zenyatta beat a high quality distaff field last year. Rachel and Zenyatta are better than a vast majority of colts, except maybe Sea the Stars ;)
I think it has more to do with the colt's strength and size "superiority" than anything else. What I love is people's insistance that a race - that hasn't been run yet, btw - is going to go a certain way. Can't they just be happy for a horse, instead of tearing them down? Unfortunately, no. I feel sorry for them, but we'll see how everything comes out in the end.

Rachel won on the Keeneland track at 6 F last year, And won by 4 lengths and done it easy . Jackson just won't budge on the synthetics tho.
