@randomross0426 yes, it was. before they let us out, we were kept inside the train for about an hour. they organised the crew, stopped other trains, switched off power supply and put on some lights for us, so we could see the path. It felt like ages to be stuck there!
Take no mind of @gavalex - he's know-it-all little boy that thinks he knows more than the staff.
I wouldn't have had a problem with the guy filming - I believe some passengers can assess their own risks - but as it's dark, you have to watch your step on the track as the ballast can be uneven and it would be too easy to trip over a rail or a sleeper. We're trained to deal with these things in a calm fashion, because you always get the one passe
no, as soon as the train's front evacuation door is open, the computers cut the power either side of the train to the nearest station, also there are two wires running alongside the tunnel if they touch each other, they will cut the power
@endof2012 they do have it cut off - its law. At each station are switches between the track. These switches can be cut at anytime cutting off all power between 2 stations.
oh my god - the thought of these poor people jumping in front of trains happen so often. I will be destroyed if I was waiting on the platform and some sucker jumped in front of the train in front of me.
i work for london undergound unfortunatly this is almost an occurance every week just now with people jumping in front of trains. Altho we always try to avoid having to walk passengers thro the tunnels as this can be really scary for some passengers sometimes there is no option.
we are all highly trained in these instances and passenger safty is always top of our list
listen "gavelex" the reason 1 of the guys there told the man to put his phone away, was not because he was filming but because he was due next to walk down the steps and they are not very secure as they are held by 2 metal wires, so you see no one wanted him to fall and crack his skull on the negative rail......so for health and safety reasons he can say whatever he damn pleases ok mr know it all
was traction current off?

With wheelchair passengers, we have carry sheets.

what happened:( why did youu have to evacuate? i always get worried this will happen when i get the underground
natalia3966 1 year ago
the bad bit is not walking along the track, it's being stuck with no movement for more than half an hour!
it's ok on a sub surface line but on a small deep level line like the jubilee, being stuck in a tunnel even in winter is absolutley horrible!

they're very calm and professional. I'm impressed.

might sound a stupid question but was the current still on?!

lol
u serious
the computers cut power off either side??? that is sooo wrong.
the driver can either request traction current off
2. touch the tunnel telephone wires, but that only lasts 7 min
3. lay down short circuiting devices
4. staff use emergency plunger if equipped in the station
thats it
hope it helps

iwatchfunny 1 year ago
@iwatchfunny They are called 'section switches', and most LU operational staff can operate them.
angrygingerkidtech 1 year ago
@angrygingerkidtech thanks i diddnt know the name =P but it would be pretty stupied not to have them...
iwatchfunny 1 year ago
@endof2012 Generally the T-Op would simply radio network control for traction current to be discharged.
angrygingerkidtech 1 year ago
@oratoryboy No, that isn't true. LU Network control has to discharge traction current in whatever 'block' the train is in.
angrygingerkidtech 1 year ago
no they would have cut that life off to enable evacuation and rescue for H&S reasons.
