  • @1stboner if you have a 240 that normally had a single cam in it you'll have to replace your gauge cluster with a dual cam 240. I've done the swap twice but it's been a couple of years but I'll help if I can

Well I've done the swap twice now, with a red top into a old beat up hatch and a blacktop(not type-x) into a better looking hatch (240sx se) both had single cams to start with and for some reason the speedometer is effected by the swap. You'll have to visit your neighborhood junkyard for the best deal on a dual overhead cam 240 gauge cluster. Both times required me to cut the connecters off and splice the wires together right near the use box. Als

    Thanks! I haven't gotten it tuned yet. Things keep coming up that take money away from the project, lol. The new motor is done and almost all the way installed. Then I have to raise the funds for the tune to FINALLY get it all ready.

    Not even close. CA is the worst state in the nation for modified cars that are driven on public roads (one of the main reasons why I moved from there). I was born and raised in CA and loved it until I started getting into cars and guns...

    The motor lasted just fine. I put in a different one that I built seperately, got a new tune for it from emance because I ran out of money, and the ring lands went out within 600 miles due to the tune. I DO NOT recommend emance whatsoever! The new motor is going in soon, with an AEM EMS, so stay tuned, lol.

  • @TwoLiterTurbo Good to know lol!, Yea after countless hours researching i decided to run Nistune i got my motor last friday tore it down to bare block for a complete rebuild its at the machineshop now getting the block resurfaces and the head completly rebuilt. then all i gotta do is assemble it and drop it in! turbonetics t28 550cc injectors nistune should be a pretty bad ass lil car when its done! ill have vids up after i break the motor in on stock ecu then get it tuned!!

  • Built motor is almost finished. Over the next 2 or 3 weeks I'll be putting it in the car. Then I'll have an appt to get it tuned. Then engine break in, followed by a retune. THEN I'll be able to see what it's capable of, lol.

    I work in Portland, I live near it. lol. This dyno was taken when I lived in southern OR. Car is getting tuned at PSI this summer with my new motor. 370Zs are sweet cars, wish I had the cash to pick one up, lol. Maybe if I didn't blow it all on a $500 car... ha ha

    The Silvia and 180SX have a rear wheel drive SR20DET, where as the Sunny, Pulsar, Bluebird have a front wheel drive SR20DET. Almost the same motor (minor differences), but different drive train layout.

    I was actually referring to the fact the pulsar had a FWD style (transversely) mounted motor, and bolts up to the FWD transmissions. I know the Pulsar GTI-R is awd, lol. I've worked on the motors.

    I'm working on the built motor now. When it's done and tuned, there will be a video. Things have gotten in the way, that's why it's taking so long, lol.

    The usual stuff, rods, pistons, etc. I have tomei 260duration/12mm lift cams with solid lifters as well. Same exact turbo setup pushing more pressure (going to about 27psi or so, basically whatever the injectors can handle). Yes, I have an AEM EMS.

I could care less how popular or rare a motor is. That's just rice boy talk... I care about the performance of a motor. I wanted a light, strong motor that gave the car good weight balance/power band for road racing. A CA18DET is an older 80's era technology cast iron motor that is fairly inefficient, heavy, and hard to find parts for...

  • @240sxGuy3 i dont own a 240 im not a fanboy i own a 200sx the og s12 chassis that is original it started the option for tuning. ca will take a beating way more than the sr, the sr breaks rocker arms, plus not to mention sr was developed because it was a "cheaper" more powerful by literal 2% than the ca and was cheaper to manufacture from mass production. no shit a stock sr would beat a stock ca, .2 liters bigger so obviously it would win. its like saying a bigger engine will beat a smaller one

  • @thejdmaddict Well get all your bolt ons, then you will have somemore power!! Get an injen intake(my buddy just got one for his SOHC 240 and loves it), get a header, test pipe, and a 2.5 or 3 inch catback exhaust!! If your SOHC is rebuilt, means its got its full 140hp stock! Add these bolt ons i mentioned, your looking at 170hp, and it will sound amazing!!! Then do a lightweight crank pully, stage 1 clutch, aluminum flywheel, and you got like 190hp! Thats pretty good numbers for a SOHC 240sx!!!!

    My 240 is an S13 Coupe model. Most S13's (the body style with the pop-up headlights) are fastbacks (or sometimes called hatch's by young kids).

    The bov is Not routed back into the intake actually. It is releasing to the atmosphere. This is a good buddy of mine, The bov just isnt super loud like a typical hks or rfl bov would be.

  • Yes, that's the BOV. Theoretically, it is better to have it on the intake side than the hot, but in reality it really doesn't make much difference, lol.

  • @chrislsarac The standard setup has the BOV in the middle, bolted to the intercooler. It doesn't matter too much, as long as it's between the output of the turbo and the throttle butterfly.

    come on you stupied or you just not watch the hole vid? it turbo, there are some cars out there that spool up and you really cant hear it unless you have a traned ear!! and you dont have that.....

  • Did you see the engine? Do you know what a turbo-configured looks like? There are so many turbo cars that you will not hear, (volvo, acura mdx turbo, saab). Just because the car is turbo doesnt mean you'll hear the spool AT ALL.

    This guys set-up routes the BOV air back into the intake NOT to the atmosphere, so you wont hear the blow off. Do your homework dude, this isnt the fast and the furious..

    I was also wondering what kind of supension do you have, are you running a spring and strut, or coilovers?

  • Goal is about 500whp, but we'll see, lol. Just running springs and struts right now, but will go to coilovers soon, lol.

  • Yeah I was wondering about the suspension because about a week ago I got Tokico blues with eibach sportline springs, but the dude I bought them from just got coilovers all around and it looks nice as hell. Mine just looks like a stock to moderate drop, btw what spring/strut are you using?
