Siege weaponry can fire on the same turn as it sets up... It just can't move, set up and fire all on the same turn. If can move and setup, or setup and fire within 1 turn.

I went to reinstall my Civ5 game, thinking I'd try out some of your strategies. I dug my jewel case out of storage and punched in the CD key only to be told that because someone has apparently hacked my CD key with a keygen or something, my copy of the game is essentially a coaster now. Words cannot express how infuriated I am over that. And yet I was warned before I bought it. Massive negative reviews of the Steam dependency should have convinced me not to bother. Uhg.

Really? I found it rather easy to make other Civs make peace after war in Civ 4. I was playing a game the other day when I was fighting Sitting Bull. After taking two of his cities, he offered peace for some of his luxury resources.

it doenst take a hole turn to set up for a siege weopon it just take one movement point but if you first move to the place where you want to set up you already have your units moved 1 space so the catapult can set up but dont fire because he is out of moves sow you can set up and fire in same turn

thats weird alot of reviewers are saying that diplomacy sucks but from what ive seen its great.

@jamesalmightyness In Civ IV, diplomacy was completely transparent and reliable. You knew exactly what you'd done to deserve the hate/friendship of a leader, and if someone was truly friendly with you, they would never declare war. Success at the higher levels relied greatly on picking your friends carefully and making sure they were friendly with each other.

In Civ 5, the system is more opaque and the AI appears to be untrustworthy despite being "friendly" only moments before.

Yay! You're making friends with the Danes, that's awesome. It's kind of a shame they aren't a full on Civilization though, it seemed like they had their own little bit in the intro movie what with the viking ship and stuff... Hard to tell though with all of Scandinavia split up into 3 or 4 city states.

WOW! This is awesome! When you take a city, you take the borders it has grown over time. In Civ 4, when I captured a city, it became tiny :'(

I once had an empire give me all cities but their capitol in exchange for peace. That wound up being 10 cities. I think it was the Arabs and was hitting him pretty hard with Infantry, Bombers, and Artillery while he barely had gunpowder.

Yeah keeping an eye on what your puppets build and getting control of them early can really help you for late game. My last game I took over a 2 civ continent and left them all as puppets and all the stupid crap they built really hurt me in maintenance.
