I never drove a Cortina, but I bet it was a neat car. Ford in Dearborn needs to see this ad and start offering the items from this ad in its cars for the U.S. market, instead of worrying so much about trucks and SUVs.
arrhhh good old Ford i am only 21 and i own a 1981 Ford Cortina and it still drives like it was new yesterday and keeps up with everyday traffic little things like heated windscreens go along away just glad mines fitted with them my dad has a ford my mum has a ford and all are great cars.
Why couldn't we have some of these features like the 4wd and heated windshields (Insta-clear) here in the U.S.? People want that stuff here, too. Ford needs to make that stuff available here, too.
ive had every ford under the sun and the moon....they are cheap to fix fairly cheap to run pretty well built and drive ok too but god help you if you hit anything in one.
What ford was he talking about? Iv two, on 22 years old a capri and a 18 year old cosworth. Both never gave much hassel yet and both have been used everyday
I agree, even though I work for a competitor; I still drive a Ford, and it's the best car I've ever owned! It's a shame that Ford won't bring the 4WD systems and its "insta-clear" windshields back!

Secondly, You must be a prick because me calling you it has annoyed you that you had to retaliate. I guess that you get called a prick day in, day out (while you drive that German piece of shit) so I just repeated what everyone else say's & thinks about you.
Just so you understand - You are a prick. Regardless of if you are in or out of the BMW, you prick.
cuntcakeflake, funniest thing i have heard all day. Some people just like to provoke a responce, just ignore the morons and they will give up.I remember the add well.I cant believe it is 23years old.
I remember this one as it was in one of the advert breaks of a James Bond film that I had taped on ITV. How times have changed though, can you imagine any company producing a 2 minute advert and running it on network TV these days? I remeber wanting my Mum to buy an XR2i.....she got a Metro.
I would have foregone all of the innovations in the ad for decent rustproofing. I bet every one of the cars featured were scrapped by 1995. Such a pity, as they were all really great cars.
the last line is immortal.."driving a car with a future".....just like the escort cosworth in the uk that was in production for about 10 months -production ceased due to it being uninsurable.Sme old same ol-stick a blue oval on the front of a car and the die-hards will buy anything!!

how does an 'electrically heated windscreen' help you when there is fog??????? so, it will clear the windscreen - but that wont make the fog disappear.....you still wont be able to see though it....
Well, here in the north of Spain we have a REALLY cold and foggy weather. When the fog it´s dense your windscreen will be always getting wet from the outside, but not enough for the wippers can clean it nice.
In these cases, a heated windscreen will keep the exterior dry and help a little. The same like if you turn the heater on at max temperature.
But... yeah, the fog will still there. Don´t forget that at the beginning of the 80´s that type of "extras" were not very common.
You think they would say something like we offer foglamps to help you see better and drive safer. I don't get how a heated windshield/screen would help either
pfffft, most modern cars are just as reliable as each other - if it constantly breaks down its quite often due to a case of serious operator failure - my family has had many fords and a couple of rovers (one of which is currently in my ownership) and they've all been exellent
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Fords and Vauxhalls were all rubbish in the 80's and 90's, cheap, crude nasty and tacky. With exception of the Lotus Carlton. Before anyone pipes up about the "Cossie" that was fun but fundamentally -- rubbish.
The both have had to really pull their fingers out to say in business with huge losses as customers go for superior German products.
Because it's new! It's the poor sod who owns it in 5 years time who'll have the all the problems, Vauxhall would have went bust long ago if GM hadn't used the money it made from Saab and it's american division.
Kia and Proton are just state subsidised conpanies who sell cheap cars, but they're not trying to be high volume sellers in the UK.
I'll tell you one thing, if I wanted cheap reliable transport, I'd pick a 10 year old Proton over a 5 year old Corsa any day of the week!
lol beautiful - i love the way the beginoning of the advert - the future cars actually look insanely retro lol - originally the ad was designed to make the car it was advertising be appealing as a second best thing to the intro yet nowadays it looks better than the original thing! Plus its ford so its beautiful anyway - who the heck would want one of those crappy looking things on the intro of the ad!
lol are you jokin?? ford are unreliable cheap crap rubbish cars. vauxhalls are solid and trouble free. ive got n reg corsa 1.2 done 124000 miles no probs.
You've got to be joking, Vauxhalls are rubbish, all they ever do is stick the same old engines and gearboxes in new bodies. All the Vectra has going for it is looks, it's not half the car the Mondeo is. As for the Corsa, you don't want to know..........
so how come the new corsa is the best supermini according to whatcar? and tell me whats the diffrence between a fusion and fiesta? fords are just the same as kia, proton and suzuki. i put money on it that ford will run out of money.
Nice one. I've owned two Fiesta XR2s, great fun and reliable but with one major problem and that's rust. I wonder if ford have changed now and sorted their rotting cars out. I changed to Vauxhalls as they were reliable and seemed to be stronger.
Seems funny seeing this advert again after all these years... It was my brothers and I in the back seat asleep... While filming one of them done the worst smelling fart, true story.....
You should edit that bit where the blonde almost hits the cyclist, with subtitles at the moment she leans over to talk to him sayin "You fuckin wanka" just for realism :P
I like the part at the begining when they showed the Alien concept. I've got two Hot Wheels versions of that car which I bought off Ebay a few months back.
Does anyone have the Ford Transit commercial from about year ago? It featured the song "Disseminated" by Soul Coughing. I just thought it was a brilliant advert. When I heard it on the telly, i'd run from the kitchen to see the people dancing in the streets. SOMEONE must have recorded it.
Squidlover1000 owns a Toyota Yaris, thanks very much for asking Grahamek86. And by looking at Toyota's current profits, and Ford's current losses, Squidlover1000 thinks that Toyota are a car with a future becasue they actually have money to put into advancement.
The woman that opens the door and nearly nails the cyclist is (I think) Rodney's girlfriend from Only Fools and Horses. This advert just gets better and better...
They may have been easy to get into without a key but the guy who pinched my radio from my fiesta broke one of the windows. Maybe out of spite. A friend of mine had the rear windscreen stolen from her fiesta!
The locks on the cars don't matter, cause the thieves use equipment similar to a slim jim. When in the car, they take a screwdriver, break the columm, and starts the car, easy. And in Europe, Ford's where favorite for thieves.
Fords always have been and always will be long behind all other manufacturers. It makes me laugh that people refer to the old clapped out crap like the XR3i and RS Turbo as 'classics', it really is laughable...look....I'm laughing now....lololol. Get a real car and a life!
I heard that in England, mostly back in the days, the thieves where stealing Fords more then anything, the Sierra's, the Fiesta's, the Escort's and so on.
