Gotta contradict here. Bugliosi is a terrific attorney, put away something like 26 murderers in his career. Yes, he has gotten rich off books. Not just the Manson case book but others too. He has defended people before, not just prosecuted. He didn't just profit off the Tate murder, he put Tate, Sebring, Frykowski, Folger, Parent, The Labiancas and many others killers away for life, and rightly so. Charlie is a hell of a performance artist and I like his interviews, but he's a convicted killer.

I am not making excuses but many of the things that Charlie speaks are the truth. Just like he tells people "I am a reflection of you,what you have made me". No way could one spend their childhood without ever having a stable home,in reform schools and correctional farms and it NOT have a dramatic change on how one would see life in general. That doesn't absolve him of being an accomplice to murder (and though he wasnt tried for it felony-murder). Emmons was a cell mate of Mansons,at least I think so,but I had that book as well and thought it was the real words of Manson. However,Manson has denied that the book is accurate and many former family members and even Bugliosi have said the book was just an attempt by Emmons to make money off the fact that he was a cell block mate of Mansons for a while.

Don't agree. If his job as prosecuting attorney was to see that justice was done: ie proved beyond doubt who the killers were and jailed them, then he did his job perfectly. If you argue that his motive of publishing a book damaged his conduct in prosecuting, I don't see evidence for it. He didn't put words in the defendants and witnesses mouths. If you claim he did, what is the evidence. Manson was simply a bizarre and sensational case. B wasn't the editor of Life magazine, and he wasn't Nixon.
