Bono wishes he was half as talented...and "The Edge"...wishes he could actually play like Dave Sharp instead of hiding behind effects. Yeah, Boner has more $...and Lady Gaga has more money than Pat Benatar...$ doesn't = talent.
This band and this man are legends! Mike is still going with a new band line up of the Alarm and he gets better and better producing the most amazing stuff ever. Look out for a film called Vinyl, its based on Mikes story of how he fooled the record industry (oh, and I am in the crowd scene at the rock gig Rhuddlan Rocks)
I miss these guys! <3 They were a creation of their time, I think... today's entertainment scene has little room for bands this earnest. Old U2, Alarm, New Model Army, Stiff Little Fingers, all those fiery-raspy-and-sometimes-political bands who could really get you leaping out of your chair & wishing you weren't a teenager stuck in Reagan's America. They were part of a zeitgeist that isn't taken seriously anymore, which I think is something of a shame.
Mike Peters is an an amazing man. He has survived leukaemia twice and carries on doing loads of work for charity. I am so pleased to have met him. He's given me strength in difficult times. What a guy.
Had the privilege to hang with them in 1985 in Chicago, maybe it was 84 anyway it was probably their first tour, they opened for the Pretenders at the Aragon Ballroom, totally had the energy, Pretenders were good but it was clear to some of us this band was special . I might add I also saw U2 same venue in 1984, and met Bono like I did Mike Peters. Actually there is no comparsion, Bono was uncool, Mike was a regular guy..sorry but that was a fact, I was there, I gave Bono a gift, big mistake
Spoke to Mike (Peters) about this song a few years ago and mentioned the similarity to The Cult's "Rain"... He admitted they (The Alarm) had The Cult's (then) current Album on playback in the studio ! Still one of The Alarm's best !! I also mentioned the absence of cymbals on this track - Mike said "there's none on that album, if you LISTEN !"
The Alarm came to my hometown, Hamilton, Canada, the only Canadian stop on their American tour in the fall of 2010. It was magic!! Great performance, tons of energy! Fitting venue for a group of gritty, real, blue collar group of guys. Eat your heart out Toronto!!!
@walrusnation true..the PR machine tried hard to make the comparison to U2 but it was asking too much. That said they're brilliant live and I mean properly brilliant
I've loved this song for a long time now. I got to hear them when they opened for the Pretenders in Houston back in about 1985. Unfortunately, half of the original Pretenders band had already od'ed by that time. It was all a long time ago. Still, two bands I really loved back then...
After the release of Raw in 1991, despite their success and relative longevity, Peters announced on stage at the Brixton Academy that he was leaving the band. This came as much of a shock to his colleagues as to the audience. The other three tried out other singers but decided not to continue as it would be against the spirit of the band and what they stood for.
In 2000 The Alarm released a complete collection covering all recorded material by the band.
Mike Peters now does vocals for Big Country. Of course, he has some big shoes to fill there.

The Buffalo Bandits use this song for their warmup before home games. They are the most dominating team in the NLL.
