Inheritance, the fourth book, was a disappointment because of the idiotic manner in which the villains were disposed of, but I loved this series for two reasons:

Brom and Murtagh. Such profound characters.

Even when he died, he died while flinging himself in Eragon's way. Moral: You can't kill Brom.

Sniff great work brom was my favorite character well hell at least it is said he might come back in a way we dont expect in book 4 coming insanely soon my guess its something to do with the the vault of souls

A character with such depth and reality to him. He suffered so much, yet look at what he accomplished; evaded Galbatorix, killed Morzan and 2 other Forsworn personally whilst arranging the deaths of seven others, captured Saphira's egg and Zar'roc, founded the Varden etc. Seriously, you couldnt have a more amazing past. And his death by the Ra'zac was only because he jumped to take the dagger mean for Eragon.

@loopstagirl yes, in the book he mutters Brisingr [fire] to light a fire, Eragon thinks he is cursing but really Brom just used magic.

@loopstagirl he does. he uses brisingr to light a fire. that's how eragon learns the spell. he uses it on instinct to kill the urgals earning the name firesword.

He uses 'Brisingr' to light a fire, before Eragon finds out the truth about him. Eragon assumes he is just cursing and then manages to light the fire but Brom later reveals that it wa magic (I'm almost certain).

AND just for a little nugget of info,If a rider dies the Dragon still lifes on, MOST of them commit suicide because of how upset they become, Or they hunt down the person that killed the rider and kill them, A dragons rath can not be avaided. Just saying for thoughs who dont know (FANGURL HERE)

yeah, brom is awesome. hate how they made him die in the movie. there it was eragon's fault cuz he just HAD to save arya but in the book, it just sorta happened and brom died saving eragon, but at least it wasn't cuz of something stupid. lol. nice vid.

its sad eragon never was able to tell him, 'dad i love you' are anything like that. and i cried when saphira's memory of brom was over.
